Love your house hunting series. One thing I wanted to mention, don't tell them how much you have to spend, just let them know you have a range. Also you're going to want upgrades, figure out what upgrades are more important to you and your husband. Some companies offer discounts, and sometimes they will negotiate prices, but not a lot. Right now prices are going up, and there's going to be a crash, and you can probably get lower prices. Only you and hubby knows what's best for the both of you and I wish you nothing but the best and blessings on getting your beautiful home!!!!!

Me and hubby will be house hunting next summer, we are in Frisco,tx and I really like it out here but yes prices are high so you gotta be prepared for the journey. But you guys got this. God is with you and will carry you through. I pray his Will be done.
Things to look out for as we are in our 3rd year of a new home - those high ceilings are beautiful, but heat rises and you spend more money heating/cooling the space. Those metal stair spindles are expensive - research how much it would cost to do later (you can compare the cost to how much the builder charges) - same for the patio. Also, the curved staircase is awesome until you have to get furniture up the stairs. We made a wish list of items we wanted to upgrade - then every year, we have done 3 or 4 things off the list - it gives us an opportunity to get it at the best price and research it.

Whew the prices in the DFW are definitely going up and it doesn’t look like they are going down. I put money down to hold my lot and floorplan back in October and my floorplan is now $12k more lol I thank God everyday I shopped early and secured the price before it went up. My house will be in Ft Worth
This was so much fun. I really like the geometric and horizontal shapes on stair railing. GIRL with TODAYS energy efficient homes your electric bill will not be bad. I work from home and I keep ac on 72 and in winter heater at 70 and the only time my bill went over $135-160 is when I had three extra folk in the house staying until their home was finished being built and when I saw electric bill it freaked me out! Other than that u shouldn't see an enormous utility bill...and my home was built in 2007. You're gonna have a very energy efficient home. I can't wait to see ur 7-10ft tall Christmas tree in your new home next year. Don't forget to vlog your pack up n move with us when ur otw to your new home. I can't wait!!!!!!

Its 4 BR & just over 2400 square ft so smaller than what you're looking at, but my power bill is reasonable just like the OP. Under $150/mth working from home full-time. I have plenty of windows and keep my blinds open so my plants get plenty of sun and despair the NC heat, even in summer these numbers are true.

Yassss hunny Frisco and plano is expensive. You are definitely paying for the area because of everything you are near. The smaller towns like denton,little elm, Aubrey, Forney, etc...are a bit cheaper. Try flowermound although expensive as well the school district is one of the best. 😉🥂
I don't know which staircase rails I love the most🤯. Just a little bit of info my realtor gave us. He said only ungraded for the most important stuff, but for the smaller things, they're less expensive if you do them yourself. For example doors, handles, kitchen knobs, chandeliers etc.
Omg. Didn't know you were in the DFW area too! We built out in Red Oak back in 2016. Just remember not to rush the decision. I'm not totally sure on prices now but you would be surprised what you get if you go more to the suburbs that are up and coming. We had a great experience with the First Texas builders
Was going to recommend the Frisco PGA area. The house you toured is across from my subdivision. If you decide to purchase in the area, you will be in the #1 school district and will always have substantial equity in your investment. Prematurely welcoming you to the area.

I like the first style of banister. I love all the windows, but the price of window treatments is outrageous! In the unfinished home (FP 1687), I love that neighbors cannot see into the backyard. TFS!
I recommend suburbs like Duncanville, cedar hill, desoto, rock wall, South lake, to find a nice home on the outskirts of Dallas. Specifically Duncanville and Desoto and parts of cedar hill very nice homes and less expensive as opposed to suburbs in Dallas. Maybe even Grand Prairie.

I know you were opposed to living in a more rural area, but please explore those options. You’ll get a much bigger house for less. You also have to think about the property taxes. Frisco and Allen are beautiful, but those prices are crazy. Just go a little further out and you’ll get more for less (example: Little Elm, Wylie, Forney, midlothian) husband and I are looking to build in Forney or Midlothian and Bloomfield is one builder we love for those areas...we have the same budget and desires that you all have.

You got me thinking abt relocating to Texas. This size house in Northern California would be over 1million dollars. It's kinda nice to put all your own designs into a new home, just don't change your mind. :0

From my knowledge,and research it's much cheaper to purchase land and build on it. Most of the time when buying pre built homes your paying double than what you would if building from ground up
Get the one door for the garage. The double doors are so tight makes getting in and out a bit difficult. Ride around and notice double doors more cars outside in driveway vs the one door garage. Wish I knew this when I purchased this home. I’ve always had one door but my model on this home came with separate doors. I didn’t think it would be a big deal but it is a huge deal for us for as long as we live here (this is my forever home) Absolute worse thing ever. I had to go measure the opening to confirm it was correct.
It’s beautiful but you may want to make a decision soon! Prices are only going up! Once you are locked in it’s a set price! We are currently building our dream home with a few hiccups! Please look at the reviews on the builder to ensure they are quality home no matter the price! We are home cost about 510k and I wish we would have looked at reviews. A lot of people are saying the builder cut corners and it’s poor quality! I wish you the very best!!💕

Yassss hunny Frisco and plano is expensive. You are definitely paying for the area because of everything you are near. The smaller towns like denton,little elm, Aubrey, Forney, etc...are a bit cheaper. Try flowermound although expensive as well the school district is one of the best. 😉🥂
Yes! We love those areas, but, they are pricey. So right now we are exploring the surrounding areas. ☺️
Wow those prices are high for no reason. We are building a home with 5 bedrooms dual master bed 4 1/2 baths 3998sqft for $354,319 in Forney, Tx.
I don't know which staircase rails I love the most🤯. Just a little bit of info my realtor gave us. He said only ungraded for the most important stuff, but for the smaller things, they're less expensive if you do them yourself. For example doors, handles, kitchen knobs, chandeliers etc.
That’s good advice. My realtor shared the same advice with us. And we will be doing just that ☺️

Omg. Didn't know you were in the DFW area too! We built out in Red Oak back in 2016. Just remember not to rush the decision. I'm not totally sure on prices now but you would be surprised what you get if you go more to the suburbs that are up and coming. We had a great experience with the First Texas builders
Was going to recommend the Frisco PGA area. The house you toured is across from my subdivision. If you decide to purchase in the area, you will be in the #1 school district and will always have substantial equity in your investment. Prematurely welcoming you to the area.

I like the first style of banister. I love all the windows, but the price of window treatments is outrageous! In the unfinished home (FP 1687), I love that neighbors cannot see into the backyard. TFS!
I recommend suburbs like Duncanville, cedar hill, desoto, rock wall, South lake, to find a nice home on the outskirts of Dallas. Specifically Duncanville and Desoto and parts of cedar hill very nice homes and less expensive as opposed to suburbs in Dallas. Maybe even Grand Prairie.

I know you were opposed to living in a more rural area, but please explore those options. You’ll get a much bigger house for less. You also have to think about the property taxes. Frisco and Allen are beautiful, but those prices are crazy. Just go a little further out and you’ll get more for less (example: Little Elm, Wylie, Forney, midlothian) husband and I are looking to build in Forney or Midlothian and Bloomfield is one builder we love for those areas...we have the same budget and desires that you all have.

You got me thinking abt relocating to Texas. This size house in Northern California would be over 1million dollars. It's kinda nice to put all your own designs into a new home, just don't change your mind. :0

From my knowledge,and research it's much cheaper to purchase land and build on it. Most of the time when buying pre built homes your paying double than what you would if building from ground up
Get the one door for the garage. The double doors are so tight makes getting in and out a bit difficult. Ride around and notice double doors more cars outside in driveway vs the one door garage. Wish I knew this when I purchased this home. I’ve always had one door but my model on this home came with separate doors. I didn’t think it would be a big deal but it is a huge deal for us for as long as we live here (this is my forever home) Absolute worse thing ever. I had to go measure the opening to confirm it was correct.
Thinking that same thing what will we do if they keep increasing?! Well I guess God has it under control and we just have to believe

It’s beautiful but you may want to make a decision soon! Prices are only going up! Once you are locked in it’s a set price! We are currently building our dream home with a few hiccups! Please look at the reviews on the builder to ensure they are quality home no matter the price! We are home cost about 510k and I wish we would have looked at reviews. A lot of people are saying the builder cut corners and it’s poor quality! I wish you the very best!!💕

Hi!! 🤗These homes were not in gated communities. Gated communities are more expensive. But, I can only imagine what the home prices are in New York. My husband used to work in New York. We knew that area wouldn’t work for us to raise a family because of the cost of living. I pray you have a smooth transition to Texas if that’s where you feel led 🤗🙏🏾❤️
