Gonna rain all weekend in my country and our trees all across the country are currently in the peak yellow/red phase! Will be 2 days in heaven for me! I do mainly portraits and street for a living, so I'm new to landscape photography but this I can tell is going to be a great weekend! Especially since I'm going to the mountainside and uninhabited areas of my country! I can't wait, I have so many ideas!
You're videos are spectacular. I'm an amateur photographer in New York, USA and your videos remind me of myself when I go hiking with my gear. I'm learning a lot. Thanks!
In cases like these is when a smaller sensor works its best. Having enough light plus the fact that you can shoot with much faster apertures keeping all in focus and without loosing sharpness, and the result is that you don't have to push the ISO. As always, amazing video, Mads. By the way I have been exploring Iceland with your FANTASTIC map last week and it has been a truly life saver, mate. The best invested money of all the trip. THANKS A LOT for your fantastic work
I shoot outdoors at 640-800 ISO all the time with no noise issues on 5DSR. No noise till I'm close to 2000 or so. Nice video. Love how you go against the fads.
Mads, I regret to tell you that you are doing in my opinion one of the most interesting photography channels these days 😁 As I am located in the north of Germany, I am facing quite equal visuale circumstances as you do at least in Denmark and I really enjoy how systematic you´re going through your chapters and the motivation behind it. Very pure & enthusiastic - therfore enjoybale. Keep it like this !
Very inspiring video, as always, thanks! A small suggestion though: could you please even state the focal length you are applying, besides the camera settings? Keep up the great work!
Looked a fantastic find in the forest Mads and have a feeling this might not be the last we see of these old trees as the images were beautiful and can imagine they will be great subjects as the seasons change.
With how bad society has become, i have no more friends and instead turned to nature and photography. For now, i am still permitted to drive a car outside my city and take pictures, and so that is what i shall do. Great videos and advise!
Mads Peter tank you for a very inspiring video. A bit to late late for me where I live. Almost all the leafs has fallen to ground but there will most likely be a autumn in about 11 months 😉 Any how, thanks for this great video. Keep up the good work that you do. Best regards from Conny in Finland at the Åland Islands.
Amazing images again Mads, I loved the one with the walker and dog also the images at 4.0 and 11.10. Appreciate your tips on ISO and noise reduction. Thanks for sharing, now just have to wait for Autumn to return and get those maple leaves.
Nice vid Mads, I'm behind on watching them...sorry!😉 I've been using ISO 400 & 800 quite a bit recently to freeze leaves/branches. I can recommend DxOPure RAW and the ON1 Photoraw denoise AI programme/plugin too.
Great tips!! Thanks for sharing! New cameras manage noise much better than 5 years ago. By the way, It's amazing having such a nice autumn area 15 minutes away from home 👌
Great tips, Mads! I really love the first image in the video..so peaceful. I'll be shooting cypress swamps at daybreak from a kayak, handheld this week.... High ISO here I come.
Great Video, Mads. I enjoy your videos, but this one really struck a nerve. I was recently out shooting in the mist and developed a bunch of noise. I will try your tips and update my progress. Thanks, Tom
Mads, I have noticed you used Tamron 28-200 in this video, are you still using Sony 24-105 g lens? I have really mixed feeling about this lens and thinking about changing it...
Mads I photographed the Redwoods in Northern California I used a Rokinon 14mm mm 2.8 lens. The forest was so dark I had to bump my ISO up to 6500 far higher than I would have preferred as I was with a hiking group and had to photograph hand held a tri- pod was not a option. I am looking into noise reduction Program
This is where a smaller sensor helps actually. Compare "full frame" to Micro Four Thirds for example. To achieve equal depth of field at F11 for "full frame", MFT only needs to stop down to F5.6 at the identical ISO. If you've ever shot medium format or large format, you quickly realize that a larger sensor carries a huge shutter speed penalty for capturing a large field of depth. A smaller sensor also helps with less need to focus stack, which can give you cleaner, more natural results. The photograph is amazing by the way, Mads.
Great video Mads! Love that location. Autumn has finally arrived for us in mid Wales too. Loved the images during this video and really informative and helpful. I’ll have to try it out when I’m out next. I’ve only just finished my autumn photography vlog yesterday so I’ll have mine up later. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work. It’s really inspiring 👍
awesome image's Mads, have you ever tried define2 inside the NIK collection for removing noise if not try it in manual mode to plot the areas plot about 12 points making sure the noise inside the plot is consistent as possible then use a layer mask to reduce or even remove the effect from highly textured areas and shadows leaving either all or some of the noise in those areas looks good.
Good morning, Mads. Beautiful forest images...were they all taken with the Tamron 28-200? If so, I'm impressed with that lens' capability to capture sun stars.
Lovely video. The second image is really nice. Topaz (speeling!?) looks interesting, have missed that. So thank you for the tip. Event though I personally consider iso 800 as a low iso ;)
Lovely photos ! .... I just got DeNoise AI as well via your link (thankx) , it really does a great job .... Great video and looks like you often are at the right place at the right moment (the woman with the dog) , just like the video where the deers suddenly appear .... You've got to teach us how that works ;-) .....
What technique do you use for the photos with the sunstar? Exposure blending or just 1 photo with f/16 (or lower)? Shooting against the sun can be tricky...Thanks and enjoyed the video. Cheers.
Some cameras have dual gain, so check Photons to Photos, "Read Noise in DNs vs ISo Setting". For A7III, A7RIII there is second gain at 640 ISO which has noise of ISO 200
I did enjoy 😁 when I see trees like those at 9:30 it always makes me wonder just what caused them to twist and turn like that, reminded me of the seals we photographed yesterday, they got themselves into some mad shapes 😂
You should have taken that first picture with the guy and his dog just coming atop the little rise . Dog and owner in silhouette in that scene would have been nice.
Great video Mads! How do you like that Tamron lens? I’ve been considering it myself. Currently I carry 3 lenses around, and it would be great to cut one out! Cheers.
As a professional for all subjects, including birds, wildlife and landscapes, night-scapes, underwater etc, I rarely ever go above 400 iso, and more often stay at 100 or 50 iso. Even when I push to higher iso I rarely ever use 'de-noise' software. Noise is rarely noticed in photos and prints produced from high MP cameras...and even when a photo shows obvious 'noise' it can add grittiness and impact to a scene.
Great video as always Mads , but what I want to know is, how much RAM do u have in your machine? Ever since I upgraded to a camera with a 45MP sensor, my machine is SLOW !! I only have 16MB OF RAM, so I was wondering how much more I’m going to need!! Thanks for your amazing videos!
A question, Mads. I print large prints. (As large as 80" on the longest edge) using xPozer. I shoot with an a7r3 or a1. But of course there is always some cropping. So I am beginning to uses Adobe's Super Resolution capability in Lightroom. (I do everything in Lightroom CC except context-aware "deleting" where I use PS). Now my question. Should I do the Super Resolution enhancement before or after dealing with the noise and if I were to use Topaz where in the process should I use that? One more question, do you know if Topaz runs on the new Apple M1 chip architecture? (Not sure if you are a Mac person). Thanks! Great images. I need to focus some of my photography time on capturing images like this where the view moves from "dark-ish" to light through a tunnel of trees or down a trail like this. ;-)

Love love the first shot. The shot with the tree circling around the frame and sun beam is extra cool.
I LOVE how happy you are on your videos, you're a joy to watch!
What I like about the first image is the 3 tree trunks that anchor everything in place.

Thanks a lot and you are very welcome, Matthew! 🙏
I like the photo where the dog and the owner appear from the sunlight.
Great image! The lady and the little dog really set that photo off! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much, Moises! I am really happy to hear that about the map :)
Great find! Those beech trees are magnificent!
Thanks for sharing your experience with comments.... great video & location with great results... always enjoy your work... cheers from Australia 😀
WOW! This photo at 09:19 is really epic. Fantastic Work Mads!
I shoot outdoors at 640-800 ISO all the time with no noise issues on 5DSR. No noise till I'm close to 2000 or so. Nice video. Love how you go against the fads.
Fantastic golden glow , thank you Mads.
Loved the High Pass filter and overlay layer blend tip post-noise reduction, thank you! Had to try that myself right away, great results!
Love how you used the curve of the trunk to frame the picture on 3 sides.
I like the composition o the gnarly trees Mads. Especialy the one with the round bend of the branch (08:51). Thnx
Ooph, the image at 8:50 ! Genial composition.

All your video it’s like a big story . Thanks you so much for sharing your experience with us. Nice one ☝️
Love love that shot at 9:00 wow.
Amazing photos, Mads! You and Adam Gibbs are the masters of forest photography. Y’all should team up for a workshop or at least a video or two.
Thank you so much for such kind words, James! Maybe in the future, who knows :)
Wonderful location, screams Autumn!
I have Topaz DeNoise as well and it works incredibly well with high noises! As always Mads, stunning vlog!!!! Thank you!!!
Loved the beautiful warm tones of the early morning light through the deciduous forest.
Great images Mads.
Stay safe 🇦🇺
Beautiful photos and interesting. I do a bit of event photography, horse events so I use a higher shutter speed and ISO.
Looked a fantastic find in the forest Mads and have a feeling this might not be the last we see of these old trees as the images were beautiful and can imagine they will be great subjects as the seasons change.
I thought that...just imagining them covered in snow in a misty scene
Love the joy your expressing when finding the trees 🤣🤣
Would love to see a video on how you edited some of the pictures from this video.

Some amazing photos there, change of scenery brings great inspiration it seems?
Beautiful shots, I wish we had forests like that in Australia.
Thanks. I have just got Topax de Noise and it is excellent. Good to practice the High Pass again.
Very nice. I actually bought this product after watching this (and on your code). Thanks for going through this it was very helpful.

Great to hear, Ross. Autumn is also very different here this year. Seems very sporadic which trees are/have changed and which haven't.
I love the images and this video. Thank you so much, and also for the link to Topaz Denoise. You have moved to a very beautiful new location.
It's amazing ur soo lucky.and vedio z very helpfull to us .keep rocking.

Brilliant comps of the curvy tree, real class. I’m off to the forest now. Cheers MJ
Thanks! And good luck :D
Thanks for the noise and sharpening tip. I have Topaz but I've never used the low-pass filter. I'll try it!
Give it go, but remember to do it AFTER you use denoise, else you'll just sharpen the noise too ;)
Really really beautiful Mads 👍🍂🍁
The trees are fabulous, great video (nearly always) wiwa
I like your movies!....your passion for nature ooses through. but i try to keep the iso as low as possible because of the noise...
Great video and greeeeat shots! Very, very nice!
That 9:20 shot is epic!

Lately i started to use film filters, so i'm not concerned about noise. Today's cameras look great on phones with or without noise anyhow.
Great video! Beautiful photos, lord of the rings feelings!
Good morning, Mads. Beautiful forest images...were they all taken with the Tamron 28-200? If so, I'm impressed with that lens' capability to capture sun stars.
Very little noise at ISO 800 on most modern large sensors.

for my Nikon D700 and me, an ISO value of up to 800 is absolutely normal and nothing that is annoying in the later photo

The tree at 8:55 😮
Don't over worry on noise. If your photo has great visual impact, you are gold.
AMAZING WORK
Awesome photos
What are your thoughts on the Sony A7IV? Looking to get one with the 28-70mm kit lens for my first full frame mirrorless camera.
I have so much to learn
Some cameras have dual gain, so check Photons to Photos, "Read Noise in DNs vs ISo Setting". For A7III, A7RIII there is second gain at 640 ISO which has noise of ISO 200

I did enjoy 😁 when I see trees like those at 9:30 it always makes me wonder just what caused them to twist and turn like that, reminded me of the seals we photographed yesterday, they got themselves into some mad shapes 😂
Hehe, those trees are actually a subcategory of beech trees. The gnarlyness is because of a mutation in the species :)
You should have taken that first picture with the guy and his dog just coming atop the little rise . Dog and owner in silhouette in that scene would have been nice.
Yeah, they just weren't there at the same time ;)

Stay tuned for next week and be sure to see my review from last winter too ;)
Haha! I should have looked before asking! Staying posted for next week regardless 😎 Cheers.
Have you ever tried the Fujifilm GFX system? I believe it would be excellent for landscape witch seems to be your main priority.
Nope, I am very happy with my Sony :)
I guess that, if a deer hadn't posed for you, a dog-walker would be almost as good. I'm a bird photographer, so my idea of high ISO is above 20,000.
Hehe, yeah, I wonder how Topaz Denoise works with such high noise? I don't even use that for night photography :P
