Hi Gary and Jerry. I read Black Stallion books with a flashlight at night. Dreams of being a jockey were dashed early. Outgrew my mother's high heels in grade school. Reached 6'1.5" by about 14. Back in early 1970, this was extremely unusual for a girl. Horses remain my first love. Thanks for your stories.
When I was young, for some reason that I can't recall, I didn't like Gary Stevens. Thirtysomething years later, I love the guy. He might be my all time favorite jockey. As far as his acting is concerned, he was pretty good in "Seabiscuit", but he was even better in the short lived HBO series, "Luck".
I’ll always remember Gary on Silver Charm in the1997 Kentucky Derby in the stretch...just classic!!!...it still inspires me to work hard!!!!...I was 18 years old... Thank you Gary!..
Silver Charm and Tiznow are my Favorite racehorses. I went into a funk when SC finished 2nd in the Belmont. But SC trained on and won many other important races!

I'm 60yrs old grew up in lynnfield and grew up with horses it's a long story true . Graduate of lynnfield high school. My mother brought me to the north Andover riding academy in the 1970s I went into horse show" s in Wilmington ma. Not western saddles. Equestrian it was in my blood . I started at a great racetrack when it was flourishing and did it all and became the greatest exercise rider and trainers and owners used me to work a full work out meaning in the morning in the summer at Suffolk Downs where their was my friend Stuart Elliott who I lost contact with him who missed so close on the triple crown but Gary the Belmont stakes with stuart Elliott on smarty Jones 2004 and in the Belmont which he lost because the track was so soaked with rain that's why he lost on smarty Jones. I have nothing to prove. Gary in 1984 in the winter I went to elleree south Carolina at Frank Smith's training center and worked out young colts before they go to racetracks and my jockey friend who in today's world Anthony gave it up. I was great doing up the race horses legs up after horse was cooled down. One summer morning it was raining I went in mess hall which the best breakfast ,and coffee and so many trainers and owners exercise riders I beautiful boots wing tips that were so comfortable when I was going out in the morning I played a low profile this when Suffolk Downs was flourishing like said .Gary 30yrs ago after I was done on the backside I went to get a coffee where kathy Ritvo was working in a the clubhouse on the first floor and asked me Barry I would to work with the horses on the backside and if I even work in the stable learning alot about the horses and 30yrs later I had gone to my other trade Gary I am a retired dental laboratory technician and worked in a crown and bridge laboratory with two other technicians and the owner of dental association ,was good at art and even went to college so kathy ritvo of read this long message will remember me. Gary I have enough to right a book and i came down with a rare autoimmune disease lymphoma. I called Suffolk downs and talked to a young woman who works in the office and told her when was working at Suffolk Downs when it was flourishing she said to me that is unbelievable I have nothing to prove. My great friend who is in Facebook so am I Vernon Bush had commpasion for me and he even said I have nothing to prove in Facebook April 10th on a Thursday I called him on messenger video call and he lives now in Alexandria, Kentucky and his faughther was a jockey it's a great craft .God bless you .Remember the greatest horse in the UK Frankel you must know he is retired for breeding, people who are in the racing business have not seen a horse like Frankel in 4 and half centuries. Frankel has two horses well his Senitor has been doing well God bless you .
I'll bet if you look back at your Point Given Derby you'll find that he had a guttural pouch infection I bet on him and when I seen him in the post parade warming up, I knew that I lost my money that's a common ailment in the state of Kentucky.... I believe Congaree might have had the same problem.... they don't have that problem in California....

Over a lifetime of watching horse racing Gary Stevens has always been one of my favorite jockeys...real guts, real skill!
He's raced despite being severely injured all the time and still WON! Such a genuine and talented man. Also loved him in Seabiscuit ❤
Awesome video! Gary Stevens and his blue eyes were the biggest reason I used to babysit for the track veterinarian at Les Bois Park in Boise, Idaho. 🤣
