I bought mine at our local stationary store and the owner told me that BECK had been in. Beck himself had no familiarity with Hobonichi but I guess his bass player (I later learned the bass player is nicknamed "showboat") is a stan. Beck and Showboat were there the day the stock arrived and got to go in the back and see them come off the truck. Talk about a rock and roll lifestyle!

I am weirdly obsessed with the "Have a Nice Day" Covers. I got both of them this year. I wish they were as soft as last year's, but I still love them.

So fun to watch you open the same beat-up box from Japan that I got recently! Blue is historically my favorite color (still is, really) but I've been on a yellow kick lately so I had to grab the Love It weeks - I'm obsessed with that little panda. I also bought a couple of pencil boards, and blank grid A6 journal in the botanical cover because that print was too beautiful for me to miss.
The Love It Panda is so!!!!!!!!! I adore him. Kind of regretting not getting the blank journal, I hope you like it!

I got a similar haul both size and design-wise: A6 Hon in the Makino design, which is GORGEOUS and glad I took a chance on that style of book, and the Makino Weeks along with all 3 Makino pencil boards. Also got the coloring book and postcards in the botanical theme and they’re so high-quality and such a value since the dollar is strong v/s yen right now. It’s the smallest haul I’ve gotten since ordering direct for the last 5 years, but I love every piece and felt like it was still worth the shipping cost to save the markup stateside, and get a couple of things retailers usually don’t carry.
Definitely the fonts are different in the Weeks. I’m happy that the font size is bigger and the layout of the heading is simpler and easier to read at a glance. I ordered the Weeks (in English) for the first time to track all things health related for my dad and I. It’s getting harder to track his journey and I’m getting lax and behind on my health journey and I’m hoping this gives some clarity and peace on this front.
Thank you for your detailed explanations showcasing the Hobonichi and Sterling Ink planners! They have blessed me and have been very helpful in making my planner decisions (I decided on the Sterling Ink A5 for my all around planner in 2024 :).

The foam isn't supposed to be a phone, it's just an efficient way to insert the correct sized foam for protecting the case during shipping as well as the silica packet to prevent moisture build up. If the wallet case was made for the journal, the foam would just be a place-holder for the journal.

I stumbled over your channel by chance and enjoy watching most of your videos. I be never a planner or planning fan, I just do what I need to keep my head above the water. For that I use a hybrid approach. For notetaking and as a "Catch All" I use notebooks of all forms and shapes. They accumulate on a shelf near my desk. Most of them being gifts, or marketing stuff or some kind of goodie and I use them as they come. They range from A6 reporter style blocks to A4 books. At the end of the day, I go through the one I use and put everything relevant into my laptop aka Google Calender for dates and appointments, Logseq for data and Google Contacts for.....you guess it, contacts. I’m regretting not watching this video before making my order but everything you ordered looks so good! The botanical weeks is gorgeous, the wallet looks so good for going out with a phone and journal inside for having coffee alone etc! My wallet is probably happy for not having watched the video tho

Also, I’m pretty sure the band isn’t meant to be used like a hair tie. Place the rivet (the button) on the front, wrap the elastic around the book and loop over.

I got most of my Hobinichi stuff from a local seller in Toronto, but the Cat Weeks cover was already sold out when I got there, so.... Well, I had to go to Jet Pens, right? Waiting for that to be delivered, but the first order did come. So much joy! I've been complaining about how fast the year is moving and mourning the passing of summer, but there's nothing like a new planner to make you wish for next year so you can play with the new toy.

Nope, for the rivets you need to put the button like at the front then wrap around the two string at the back then make sure they meet at the front. Hope you get it. Basically the button like acts like a button. Oh boy it’s hard to explain, hahahaha

I want one. The cover and the story of Tomitaro Makino @6:15 looked interesting so I looked it up and he wasn't just an artist. He was the pioneer Japanese botanist and TIL his birthday is the Botany Day in Japan.

Been watching all of Hobonichi unboxing since August. I have pre-ordered wonderland222 weekly for work and B6 Sterling Ink Common Planner. I thought these are enough and wait until these arrived. I am sticking with Stalogy for brain dump-memory keeping. But really struggled with periodical planners for activity tracking. Debating if I need cousin.

I bought Kinbor this year. I have a two year old hobo dayfree I use for notes and quite like. Bought a hobo weeks this year and it’s not a good fit for me. I was able to buy three styles of kinbor for the price of your hobo weeks. I bought a page a day kinbor this year for journaling and do quite like the paper so I got another one of those, plus a dated weekly A5 and an undated weekly that seems to be a chinese R size between A5 & A6 to use for project management. I decided I like micron pigma pens best with the kinbor paper. I don’t like Moleskine paper, but I’m thinking of moving back to the A4-ish Moleskine horizontal weekly if these vertical weeklys don’t work for me. I may just prefer the larger size.
I have the same black wallet case. It has held up great for 2023. I used a cloth previously that got dirty easily. I keep my weeks in the wallet without either of the bookends inserted; she just floats inside. Works great.

Did you have issues with the inside zipper damaging your Weeks? I was really upset when I realized it was leaving a gnarly spot on the front of my Weeks and decided not to use it again after this year :(

I'm thinking of getting those same mini sticky notes for my weeks (they look so useful!), but I'm wondering if they are the kind that can only be written on with certain pens? If so do you have any pen recommendations, as I've never used those kind of sticky notes before.
My eternal pen is the uniball jetstream, which writes on most things pretty well! I've never had a problem with mini sticky notes requiring certain pens

Ah, the Coleto! My favorite custom multi barrel is one of theirs (it's just called "1000", I think it's the sleekest, nicest looking one on the market - desperately wish it came in a five refill version).
Just an FYI: you're totally not limited to Coleto refills in the coleto pen! You can use other multi pen refills if you don't like the Coleto tip/ink/ink colors etc.
Unfortunately, the standard Uni Jetstream refills are too short, BUT the Uni Style Fit Ballpoint refills use Jetstream ink and can be modified to fit. Or you could buy a Style Fit barrel instead, though I personally prefer the Coleto ones (the Style Fit has a neater pencil unit though).
Tokyo Pen Shop has a "Custom Multi Matrix" guide on their website, along with a TH-cam video of the same name that covers everything you need to know about custom multi pens. Their video titled "Coleto Style Fit Mod" might be helpful too!
I bought my first ever weeks! I couldn't resist the cat cover... I have no idea what I will use it for, I have a Sterling Ink for my main planner and never have been much of a multi-planner person. I want to get more serious about creating art his year, so wondering if I can use it for that somehow...

If it doesn't work for me, then I'll get a Cousin to replace it. I used my same A5 Motor leather cover, some one, every year - dusty pink pebble version.

The Weeks font is not as bold in 2024, vs 2023. I prefer the bolder font. I am 62 and bold print really helps as your eyes age.
Hi! I'm here for all written planner❤ loving Your content, full od ideas! And for some recommendations- I used to bullet journal, but got tired of drawing the monthlies and weeklies. Now I'm looking for a pre-printed planner, that would have the pages printed in order: monthly coverpage- monthly spread- vertical weekly- few free pages. Anyone can help me😅? No binders, I hate the position of hand while writing in it.
I haven't felt "worthy" of a planner because I'm a sahm atm. But the days blend together and I feel very disconnected and all over the place. Also it's cool that I think we have similar spirituality! It's exciting to hear that in an unrelated video 😂

Love this line up! But just as a heads up i don’t believe the A6 Botonical cover fits a cover on cover. It’s a different size I believe. I would just check before you grab one. Loved this video!

Yes that's correct! I loved the look of the HON but I just didn't need it. And I tried two weeks this year and it didn't work so I had to talk myself WAY out of buying two for 2024 lol
I don't know if someone already mentioned it but I don't think the hobonichi cover on covers fit the style of cover without the butterfly pen holders :)
Is the blue really like a sky blue? Or more of a cornflower? I love the former, would rather not go with the latter so as you can see I am at an impasse.
I just ordered this week and it’s my first time ordering from Japan. I chose the same weeks and an English Techo. I almost got the botanical A6 cover too. I thought about the wallet Weeks case, but I’m worried the zipper would bug me. Plus, I don’t have need to carry mine around much because of what I intend to use it for. I was also very tempted by the 5 year journal but gave it a pass.

@@RachelleinTheory yeah, me too! Especially after looking back at 2020 behavioral health goals/barriers/supports while putting together this year’s. I’m way past having huge leaps forward so looking farther back further and seeing how many of the barriers I’ve eliminated since then gave me the same motivational energy I used to get from the big leaps in progress. So I feel like a 5-year would help me to continue to see growth and progress.
Hobonichi does not recommend putting a plastic cover on the Tomitaro cover. I think the reason is the plastic will damage the image,

The botanical A6 will not fit correctly inside the coc, that ruins it for me, I thought Hobonichi would have made a cover that fits by this release.
This might be a silly question but how do you get hobonichi to deliver to North America addresses? I waited on the release date and once I got everything I wanted in my cart I got all the way to the end and on the hobonichi website it said it didn’t deliver to my address (Texas)😕 I’m still pleased with my jetpens order but if I can get the free pens for next year I’d sure like to know how😊.

I didn’t pay any additional fees (no shipping nor taxes). But if you don’t purchase the minimum to get free shipping, the shipping might be quite expensive.
Do you happen to know what you have to spend for free shipping?

The grid with a dot in the middle is a test to see if you have macular degeneration. You close one eye. Stare at the dot. If the lines look wavy go to your eye doctor immediately. Then test the other eye. Very important to keep your eyes healthy.

I hope you're paid by hobonichi for this video, because it's really demented to buy a planner with everything in japanese if you don't know the language.. a lot of space wasted.. and soooo many english planner .. ohhh but the look of the packaging is sooo cute .. oooohhhh but the feel of the paper is soooo nice ... yes, that's the feel of paper that EVERY planner has .. it also exists STONE PAPER that is MORE eco-friendly, water resistant and so on if you look for a real eco version ..

It’s not representing a phone, but interesting thought process 😂 it’s simply in there so the cover holds its shape while shipping and doesn’t get smushed together or anything (and the little pack in it absorbed moisture - it has its own lil cut out so that it all is one layer and doesn’t bend the cover outwards) hope that helps 🫶🏻🫱🏻🫲🏽😌
