I’ve had abductor/inner thighs worked on by my massage therapist & it’s soo painful in the spots that haven’t been worked on in a while or have had an overuse &/or and over stretching injury. It makes me pop a sweat and eventually reach my pain tolerance level! I involuntarily crawl away and my massage therapist knows me pretty well after 1+years working together, so he knows that’s the cue to stop & work on another area. It’s super important to get this area cared for because it seriously has an impact on flexibility.
Adductor work can be pretty intense. A lot of people have weak glutes and overactive adductors so it's important to work this area when dealing with hip and back pain. Remember it's adductors. I confuse them sometimes as well. One way I remember is add brings things together. Which is what we do when we close our legs. Abduct means to take away. Like being abducted by aliens. When we abduct our hips we pull our legs apart. Anatomy gets confusing and their are lots of little tricks we use to remember the different terms.

He is concentrating on ignoring the pain. When these muscles are tight, they cause pain. I had excruciating knee pain due to tight thigh muscles, but thought it was just joint issues. Working out an irritated muscle really hurts but ultimately is worth the temporary pain because it releases the pull on other joints (hip , knee) and gives relief. Had the same with an elbow and could not fully straighten the arm. A friend worked on the spasmed muscle. The pain was very intense, but the next day I could straighten the arm witout pain and the spasm did not return. Muscle fibers can stick to each other and deep tissue massage is needed to break up the adhesions.
