So right. When I started reading my Bible, I was sure the text was changing as I was reading it. Parts of it seemed different every time I read it. After a while it started to come clear to me that the Bible wasn't changing. I was.

Our congregation is reading the Bible Chronologically this year. My wife and I will do this together for the 1st time after 44 years. We May need prayers 😂
When I was adult Sunday school teacher in my church we spent one year on the Old Testament and one year on the New Testament. I think it is a good timeline to go through the Bible in whole.
A good plan! We have added more courses on the Old Testament at Admirato.org if you'd like deeper study as you progress and questions arise. Our free, self-paced, online course "Christians and the Old Testament Law" has been helpful for a lot of people. www.admirato.org/courses/christians-old-testament-law We also offer N.T. Wright's course on Genesis, among others. Blessings to you as you read the Bible through Chronologically this year! --NTW Online Team
I tried to read through the Bible so many times and I just don't have the type of brain that wants to hop back and forth between Old and New testaments.. I found a chronological Bible and read the Bible through five or six years in a row. I was reading God's story.. His-story 😊 I started to say good luck but who needs luck when we have God? Enjoy your chronological Bible in a year!
Maybe being infallibly correct, within yourself, about the following question would help: In the first four paragraphs of the Bread of Life Discourse what had Jesus Christ, alone, infallibly instructed the Jews, including Apostles, about the substance of the Bread of Life up until this happened “The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” a) substance of bread b) substance of Jesus’ flesh c) substance of manna d) substance of bread and Jesus’ flesh e) Jesus had not, as yet, infallibly taught the Jews and Apostles anything definite regarding the substance of the Bread of Life so far.
Thank you, dear favourite teacher! With the Spirit's help, you are teaching us what we should have known long ago. God bless your ministry! It is an answered prayer by a little preacher's wife from a little congregation in little Switzerland.

I just started The Bible Recap program in the YouVersion Bible app, which is a One Year reading plan in chronological order. I’m enjoying it so far. I also bought their optional study guide, which I’m also enjoying for thought provoking questions after every day of reading. It helps me focus and get more out of my daily reading. Their One Year plan with daily recaps and additional commentary on its own is excellent and references The Bible Project video series, which is also excellent and ALL of that is available 100% for free. I love how accessible that is for everyone.
Amen. I have been blessed by Wright's teaching for quite some time. I Love this guy. We need a New Testament For Everyone with an OT. I know Paul and the NT is his forte but a complete canon with his commentary would be awesome! Maybe even a NRSV with some study notes based on Tom's most popular works. Blessings
Thank you N.T. for the encouragement to read the Bible. I’m 65 and have read through many parts of the Bible throughout my life. Lately I’ve been feeling called to go deeper in my faith and begin spending more time in the Bible. Coincidentally I’m looking at a “Jesus centered” bible at the moment to help explain how the Old Testament points to Jesus. I also appreciate your idea of using a plan to read through the Bible as opposed to beginning just reading from cover to cover. I tried that before and found it difficult and frustrating.
I love to here you talk about the richness and depth of the Bible. For years I've been noticing that Christians are not seeing the depth of it and the deeper message it brings. Thank you!

Excellent video. I love to read the Bible. Many places are so enthralling. There are point of study that I really believe the study is needed, but I do think just the reading is exciting. I found the Spirit often highlights parts that I need to focus on. And I do.

I love the recommendation to start with John and the Psalms. Any of the Gospels, read a chapter at a time with a psalm each day is a great way to begin. Set an every day practice. Have a beautiful translation. Fall in love with the beauty of it first, then follow your heart. Maybe you're called to the epistles next or Revelations, or Jonah or Exodus. Order doesn't matter because each book of the Bible is a book. Ester is wonderfully interesting. And proverbs is uplifting. One thing is, I'd always be reading a chapter of a Gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John) or Acts along side whatever book you're working your way through to keep you rooted in Jesus.
Thank you for this! God’s Word is Living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of the soul and spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart! Hebrews 4:12 🙏

Brother, can you plz give reference from bible where Jesus himself said that his followers be called as Christian and the faith that he preached as Christianity.
Dear BROTHER, I can understand the inner meaning and the concept of your question. In every human being, there is a small and small tiny part of goodness in their hearts. I call it as the character of the Christ.. is anywhere in the history. Some feelings should be felt by the heart, not by the logic . In the world, so many persons may not be accepted in the beliefs of Christians, but nobody opposes the inner characters of the Christ that are love, compassion and forgiveness. Hope you will understand everything. May God bless you.
Dear Professor Wright, Would it be okay if I asked you a question? I have a very special bible. It's a bible my grandmother gave to my father when you was young and I believe struggling with gambling and alcohol problems. My grandmother was very religious but my father not so much. But she thought it might help him. I don't think he ever read it, in fact I'm almost positive he didn't. When he died I received that bible. Even though I don't think he read it, it was important to him because of who gave it to him. As his only child he made sure I reviewed that bible in the event of his death. I love touching that bible and looking at it because I imagine my grandmother with love in her heart giving that to my dad. I do want to read that bible of course (No I haven't actually tried reading it yet) and I will but my question is this: I also have a bible that isn't standard or official I guess for lack of a better term. It is the bible but some of the words are different. It's a bible that translates I guess basically. It uses more common words to make it more understandable. I've just found you on TH-cam and just listening to you talk gives me comfort and lowers my anxiety. You help me feel less afraid as I'm going through a terrible time right now. And although you're new in my life I really respect your opinion. This other bible I have, the one that uses different words sometimes to make it easier to understand, do you think it's okay for me to read that? And aside from your opinion, do you think God would be angry with me for reading it?
The Lord sees your heart, @Germantuner. You can read the Bible in many translations. Bible Gateway has many good translations available for free, including N.T. Wright's New Testament for Everyone Translation here: www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=john%201&version=NTFE It's great if you find a translation that is easy to understand and that you enjoy reading. We hope all the best for you on your journey! --NTW Online Team

Question: In the first four paragraphs of the Bread of Life Discourse what had Jesus Christ, alone, infallibly instructed the Jews, including Apostles, about the substance of the Bread of Life up until this happened “The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” a) substance of bread b) substance of Jesus’ flesh c) substance of manna d) substance of bread and Jesus’ flesh e) Jesus had not, as yet, taught the Jews and Apostles anything regarding the substance of the Bread of Life.
My friend that is a very good question and don’t stop asking questions. Jesus welcomes questions. Jesus never rebuked Thomas when Thomas doubted and questioned but He showed him the evidence. Every time Isreal disobeyed God, the consequences were dire because God looks ahead and see what will happen as a result. Contextually I believe Deuteronomy 20:16 gives us the answer you ask, ESPECIALLY VS 18 of that Chapter. Always remember that during that time God chose these people to be a people set apart to be priests, a sort of light to the darkness in the world and He give them a set of rules to follow to execute that light bearing plan but they fail miserably. In 1 Samuel Chapter 15 and continuing into Chapter 16 contextually speaking again the answer might be shown in what happened to King Saul in the end and the conversation King Saul had with the prophet Samuel.
These are very important questions. We have just added Old Testament scholar Dr. Carmen Joy Imes to our Admirato faculty and we look forward to hearing her input on these verses. In the meantime, we can direct you to some helpful sources if you'd like to reach out to us at contact@admirato.org --NTW Online Team
The Bible is a compilation, not a traditional book. When you realize much of the New Testament is based on oral tradition and was written decades after the fact, you can approach the Bible on a more realistic level.
I argue that atheists need to read the Bible so as to have an informed opinion, rather than relying on strawmen and received prejudice as they usually do in my experience. People who like to pride themselves on being "rational" and "scientific" ought to do much more research than is typically the case, and not be afraid of catching a "brain virus" from an unfamiliar text. I also often think about the need for introductions to scripture for socialists, since Christians and scripture played such a large role in the foundation of socialist movements, parties and trades unions all over the world. There my argument would be that in any case, whether dialectical materialists or others think it's a bad thing or just irrelevant and unhelpful, there are always going to be Christians anyway, for a host of reasons that are easy enough to elaborate, and that therefore it is useful and necessary to have familiarity with scripture from the point of view of inspiring and recruiting people, and making sure they do not feel persecuted or marginalised. Whatever gets people reading scripture and tolerating the faith cannot be a bad thing. But also of course there is also a consistent class analysis and critique of class society throughout scripture which has moved people into anti-capitalist politics since before there was modern class politics, and recurrently inspires Churches to live out the kingdom of God on earth in community of goods and communal living, like the Hutterite colonies.
The Godhead Explained: There is only one thing God keeps from Jesus, and that is the hour and day of his return (Mark 13:32). Outside of this, Jesus has the full mind of God; likewise, the Holy Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God through the mind of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 2:10). This is why Jesus said, “all that the Father has is mine, therefore he, the Holy Spirit, will take what is mine and show it to you” (John 16:15). Everything comes from the mind of God, the Father, first and is revealed through Jesus by the Holy Spirit to us. This is the truth of the Godhead. Jesus said he can *_do nothing_* of himself, but what he sees the Father do, that is what he does likewise (John 5:19). For they are one in spirit and in truth.
When you read the Bible it’s embarrassing. It’s full of contradictions and conflicts. After the resurrection the gospel of Matthew has Jesus up in Galilee while Luke has Jesus in Jerusalem. In Matthew Jesus’s genealogy is different than Luke’s. In the nativity story Matthew has Jesus flee to Egypt while Luke has Jesus stay in Jerusalem then go to Nazareth. How can you actually believe this?
The Bible is Jesus. Jesus is the Father. Read the Bible and sing worship to spend quality time with God. Do that daily and read the Bible straight through from cover to cover. God is the teacher, He knows what He’s doing. Throw away all other books; God is the master.
What about the condoning and promoting of slavery? (Exodus 21 ). Jesus never said slavery was wrong. What about the rape, murder and genocide (Numbers 31:7-18). This is all evil and immoral. You definitely wouldn’t want children reading this.
So right. When I started reading my Bible, I was sure the text was changing as I was reading it. Parts of it seemed different every time I read it. After a while it started to come clear to me that the Bible wasn't changing. I was.
Well said, Frank.

Hello! N.T. Wright has worked on a New Testament translation called, "The New Testament For Everyone." You can read it free on Bible Gateway: www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%201&version=NTFE You can also order it from any bookseller.

If even in UK you have such a situation, how can we be a better country without any background of Christianity?

@NTWrightOnline thank you
Brother, can you plz give reference from bible where Jesus himself said that his followers be called as Christian and the faith that he preached as Christianity.
Dear Professor Wright,
Would it be okay if I asked you a question?

For me old testament is more difficult to understand. I think without the help of Holy spirit we can never understated the real truth from the word. I have been reading new testament but not consistently. I'm reading Proverbs these days.. because I need wisdom now more than anything else.
Hello! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We understand that the Old Testament can be more difficult to understand and we have developed courses that can help you navigate scriptures here: www.admirato.org/bundles/free. Question: In the first four paragraphs of the Bread of Life Discourse what had Jesus Christ, alone, infallibly instructed the Jews, including Apostles, about the substance of the Bread of Life up until this happened “The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
a) substance of bread b) substance of Jesus’ flesh c) substance of manna d) substance of bread and Jesus’ flesh e) Jesus had not, as yet, taught the Jews and Apostles anything regarding the substance of the Bread of Life.
i still don't get it , why did God command genocide in Deuteronomy 20:16-17 , 1 Samuel 15:2-3 ?
In the meantime, we can direct you to some helpful sources if you'd like to reach out to us at contact@admirato.org

Thank You professor but creating Images are denegerous because that mostly leads to image worship .
*received that bible
So you don't depend on clergy.
Why, because it's the very words of God🙏
The Godhead Explained:
There is only one thing God keeps from Jesus, and that is the hour and day of his return (Mark 13:32).
Jesus and apostles literally converted people instantly... they had not read the scriptures.
Id say read the Gospel.. as a start. It is Jesus.
Throw away all other books; God is the master.
oneness spotted
What about the condoning and promoting of slavery? (Exodus 21 ). Jesus never said slavery was wrong. What about the rape, murder and genocide (Numbers 31:7-18). This is all evil and immoral. You definitely wouldn’t want children reading this.
If you took the time to read the Bible.especially the old testament...you would become an atheist...
how do you came here
Actually, I think we do live in neutral space, and although the Holy Bible is a good read it can be dangerous in the hands of silly folk.
Which Bible? Catholic, Protestant or Orthodox? Christians do not even have one Bible canon.
