Amira was only about 13 when she did that performance. She just keeps getting better. She's now 17, has produced 3 or 4 albums, one of which went gold in just a few day. She has a very bright future.

As someone who knows Amira personally I can state:
Amira is widely considered to be the best singer in the world. She has amassed over 1 billion fans worldwide. Miss Amira also recieved a 10,000 person standing ovation at just the age of only 9. She also won Holland's Got Talent at age 9 as well. Amira has had no lessons or voice training to date. Amira's voice and quality might only be achievable after 20+ years of nonstop hardcore training. She has sought out vocal teachers and lessons countless times only to be told "I'm sorry, there is have nothing more I can teach you." She is now 18 years old and her voice is only going to get better. She says she learned from watching TH-cam videos.

The year before she sang Nella Fantasia at Africans is groot. The camera held a close up when she hit the high final note. It's quite impressive. The most mind blowing performance was at age 11, singing Ave Maria, Gomez, at the Canisius church Christmas service. The breath control at such a young age is staggering.
Thank you, Jennifer, for this professional reaction! This concert took place in June 2017 when Amira was just 13 years old. She was born in the Netherlands on March 27, 2004 and has been living in Potchefstroom, South Africa, her mother's home country, since January 2018. She is an 11th grade student at Potchefstroom Gimnasium, a local public high school, and will graduate in late 2022.
Amira is totally amazing...I am Dutch and might be a little bias but no one can dispute that this young lady is a gift to mankind.

I followed Amira from the day she won Holland's Got Talent at 9yrs old ! That's a video you need to react to ! She was fantastic ! I have to say Jennifer you are most intelligent young vocal coach I have seen in You Tube ! I follow a lot of vocal coach reactions because they give you real insight into the voice techniques and nuances that help me learn and understand the voice instrument ! But you have a real feel for what the singer is doing and achieving as they sing ! You don't ever seen to get to overwhelmed by singers techniques with the exception of Dimash and Diana Ankudinova lol ! They're different breed ! Thank you for your insight it's really wonderful ! Can't believe you have not heard of her before, this song doesn't bring out all of her Operatic capabilities, she really is magnificent. Her audition for Holland has talent was a real mind-blower. I just watched that audition actually and I could not believe it was her voice
She was 9 years old
My son was born that year and so in October will be only 1 year younger than she was then and she had that incredible ability even then

The Pipes really can bring chills, all by themselves....Every professional musician/vocalist/voice coach I've seen reacting to Amira for the first time always smile a few seconds into the performance, sometimes with a raised eyebrow along with the smile. Great review.
I would also suggest watching her Audition for Holland's Got Talent.
Ceci, if you would like to see Amira's winning performance of Nessun Dorma at the Holland's Got Talent show in 2013 when she was 9 ... you'll get another stunning impression of her unique soprano prano voice that can reach the higest and low ranges so beautifully, so naturally! It's an honor to watch her perform complex opera pieces.
Bagpipes seem to have become mandatory in Amazing Grace. As a Nova Scotian I don't object. I literally get pipers practicing on my beach. And they take requests. No joke.

I very much appreciated your comments even though it still leans a bit more towards judgement of a performance rather than "reaction" to it. However, I do understand and recognize that you have far superior knowledge of operatic performances than I. When thinking of "reaction" videos I think more of my breath quickening, the swelling of my chest, the uncontrollable smile that comes to my face and the inevitable tears that freely flow down. That is the "reaction" I have.... not just the first time I hear this (and other) Amira performances, but every time. She is going to leave a mark on this world I am sure of it. Thanks for your "reaction", it was quite reasoned, positive and showed much grace! Well done.

Hi again Jennifer & thanks for your unbelievably informative reaction to this wonderful young Soprano. I think you would really enjoy her rendition of Nella Fantasia ( in concert ) at age 12., or a performance when singing Flower Duet with Corlea Botha at age 13.
One of my favourites is Ave Maria by Gomez at the Canisius Church when she was just 11. Her powerful,Angelic voice is complimented by an inward passionate, emotional performance. It is hard to believe she taught herself by watching uTube videos, although here she had had some vocal training, albeit very little.
Hope to hear more Amira reactions soon, as you’ve only just scratched the surface.

Jennifer, PLEASE react to Amira's audition video for Holland's Got Talent. It is where I first saw her. There is one video that says for English viewers. The funny thing is there is one judge from America so when he speaks English it has his subtitles in their Language instead of English. LOLOL

Nice reaction. I love this girls voice. I would suggest a piece, but I love everything she has done. I have to give shout outs to this orchestra and choir as we'll. I have bought the concerts from 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 ( due to Covid no 2020 ) from Amira's charity. They put on one heck of a show with a lot of great talent. To watch the concerts in the states needed a new multi region DVD player, we'll worth the cost

I am amazed other ability to sing in so many languages and to remember the words of each song....In short, she bring chills up my spine when I listen to her and often the tears flow.
Her brother Fincent gives her the pronunciation of the languages she does not speak.
She got her mouth copying Maria Callas for two years before Holland’s Got Talent.
She’s been careful not to ruin her voice as it matures,

Yes, these songs were sung at Classics- and Afrikaans is Great concerts, South Africa's annual gathering of almost all the Afrikaner singers, who draw in foreign guests each time. Quite fabulous.
She combined with Patrizio from Italy, here, too, of course, and he spoke a word or two in Afrikaans with her, on stage, before commending her singing to the audience as they sang. Amazing.
Amira is now also South African and fluent in all three languages, starting with Dutch, as happens.

also, i would like to draw your attention to a girl named ALMA DEUTSCHER. younger than amira, and maybe not as well developed as a singer..... but that's okay, singing is just a mere sidetrack for her (opera composer, pianist, violinist ect.). her mind is also on a level that cannot be comrpehanded by anyone that doesn't share that level (it's my job to work with children like her :) )

Re "Dutch and Italian" singers, one thing both places have in common is generating loads of versatile sopranos who seem to dominate musical forms that will stretch their skills, like symphonic metal. A good example of two Italians who front symphonic metal bands doing a beautiful job on a more traditional piece is this, "Vivo Per Lei" by Laura Macri and Chiara Tricarico.

Hi again, sorry to be a pain, but I need to comment further. Although you couldn’t see a close up of her face during those higher notes, I can assume, by watching other performances, that her mouth would be relaxed & wide open & without effort or straining. Nella Fantasia is a good example. Her last note (top C I think ) lasting for about 8 seconds is a close up which shows her technique perfectly.
As to current performances, unfortunately, Covid 19 has gotten in the way, but I suggest you react to Amira singing a medley from Sound of Music at age 15. She sings about one octave above the original by Julie Andrews and nails it.

Amira willighagen is good frends with Alma Deutscher the child prodigy composer. She started playing piano at age 2 violin at 3 composing at 4 .this is the third movement of her violin concerto composed, orchestrated and performed by her at age 9

She's a vocal coach and makes her living on analysing. Natural gifted singers don't analyse, in absurdum, how to sing, it just comes naturally adding to their natural unique style. In musicals/opera/classical music you can hear all roles are trained to the last note and no one of them shines. If a vocalist get sick they just, at instant, replace them with another clone trained one and few will notice.
