As you mentioned the girl could be annoying as most of the time Japanese male writers fail to bring out the best in female characters but there could be many good ones too. About if you are planning to watch an other. I would suggest 'Full Metal Alchemist : Brotherhood'. Cause it is relatively small in size and have a high plot. Hope this commet reach you even though it's a bit late on the matter. ' Grave of Fireflies' is a movie which you could watch too. If you want a psychological I would suggest ' Classroom of the Elite'. If it's isekai then ' That time I got reincarnated as a slime '. Shonen ' Naruto' is an epic, though it has a large scale of filler. But due to the anime ended a whole ago you can search for fillers and avoid them. Also it's a anike with high episode number upto 720 and as person who watched it I would say almost more than 200 episodes to be filler. One of the dark animes is 'Dororo'. 'Code Geass' simpley have a slow pace on the plot development but does have a great overall story and characters. I personally feel code geas to be better that Death note. If you can read ,mahwa is one of the best at that. As you are BTS fan I think I don't need to press on the matter how much Koreans can be talented. Korean manga or comic of anime is mahwa and it even rivals veteran mangas which has many fans. Like 'Tower of God ' is a Manhwa with cartoonic drawing and one of darkest story plots.
