lol same. I hate playing it, but whenever I run with "comp" Rec players, they wanna play zone. It's dumb. Zone should be a strategy you employ when needed, not just play it all game every game just because. Our last game we were down 20 by the half, but did we switch to man? Nope.
Never understood the concept of letting them go baseline 🤦🏽♂️ all your help is inside. You don’t have help on the baseline especially if you get beat. I’m just curious. As a coach I’ve always taught don’t let them go baseline. I’m curious on your guys opinion.
Always work to keep the ball out of the middle, no matter if you're playing zone or man. The side line and the base line act as 2 extra defenders, so if you're teaching man to man principals with help defense and rotation on the backside, forcing the ball to the sideline/baseline is the easiest to help, rotate and recover from. Allowing the ball in the middle will get you cooked
@@cod_bino_yt1824 the main thing to remeber when playing zone defence was brought up a lot in this video and is what should be kept in memory is to keep the ball outside the interior, you have to force the ball to the corner so more defensive pressure can be applied by one of the bigs who are guarding the interior. so you have to guard the player on the side closest to the hoop so it forces them to pass to the corner. its really easy when you get the hang of it and very effective. also remember that the people on the interior are also there to assist on contesting a wide open player until you get there. hope this helps
why run zone with kids of this age? teach em to play man!!! other than that, its a problem, that the help is turning its back on the weakside, have em set up like in man. peripheral vision to take away cuts and crashes for rebounds

You essentially get the out of bounds line as an extra defender.
