Hi there. You are correct. We remove the slide to make it easier to manipulate during filming. We would also recommend removing the slide before using a sight press or putting the pistol in a vice. But it is not a necessity. Thanks-
We generally do not mount the optics on the instructional videos because there are so many optic and footprint choices we do not want to confuse the matter any further.

why did you remove the slide for the installation? Looks like it can be done without disasembly?
