So true! Many Garos lost employment and other opportunitites because of this road. I remember how we had to appear for exams at Shillong for Veterinary quota which was held just a day after the Medical Screening for Medical quota seats (held in Tura). And most of us couldn't go because there was Assam bandh. Very few students (only those who had access to booking private vehicles) could appear for the exam and lost out on the opportunity.
@@rsangma5377 I don't know about the situation of garo hills due to lack of media coverage but my question is what were the political representative from garo hills doing back then and also you guys had and still have favorable opportunities because the person holding the CM office for many terms is from your community. In my opinion, i would say that the lack of development in garo hills is due to poor political representatives.
@@factfinder1040 Having a not so good political representative may be true but i would like to enlighten you on one thing ~ Having a CM from our community or your community doesn't give any special treatment for us or you in any way. CM has to overlook the whole state and not just a particular community. In your perspective, are we supposed to think that a Khasi CM will only develop Khasi Hills then? Or that you will have favourable opportunities because of a Khasi CM? (just as you said that we have had favourable opportunities because we've had a CM from our community for many years ). Hope this cleanses your thinking.

Don't you think it's your right to question your elective representative from Garos what have they done in the past 50 years, what is their duty and their mandate to the people. My Garo brothers should also understand that not one CM has been represented from Jaintia hills since 1972. The coming of VVP under the leadership of Bah Ardent many people especially the poor uneducated are enlightened about the rights of the people that we are one who elect them in power it's their duty to serve the interest of the state not for their personal benefits. But we have the power to question these representatives boldly and not be afraid of these people who are in power.

I hv been in Garo Hills few years back. What i have seen many infra strutural development took place right from road communication well metalling no pot hole and up to the various government office were in place. Also few projects fully installed in Ampati like that of incubation centre. However compare to the life style of the people i think i make no mistake to say people many and many of them are realky very poor. I use to ask why no architectural residential building some said they dare not to construct because of ANVC those time which they might be on demand. How true i dont know but genearlly people are poor
