Building HDO Beehive Covers

In this video we built HDO covers for the first time in early 2023. These are without a doubt our favorite covers. They stay completely flat and seem impervious to the elements. The smooth surface is also great for writing neat notes with lumber crayon. Also in this video Jordan goes through the hives on one of the first warm days of the season.

It's good to see you prime & paint your wood ware. I don't understand beekeepers who don't paint their hives.

We made that mistake in the past. We used a product called Eco Wood Treatment one season to try to get around painting our equipment. It didn't work well in our wet climate. Now we wax dip or paint everything. Thanks for watching!
