    Thank you so much. I was so confused and needed help figuring this out for a class. I wouldn't have been able to get started without this.

      I'm in Phoenix. After setting my lat and long numbers I cannot get the background to change. Seemed so easy in the TH-cam, but mine screen will not change. Are you an expert?

    Hi David. Can you tell me hoe to lower the horizon? It's half way up on screen. Too much ground, not enough sky. Also, is there a way to display specific references like the meridian, zenith, celestial poles, ecliptic

    • @Eyesonthesky
      @Eyesonthesky  ปีที่แล้ว

      To move the horizon, you should be able to press the left mouse button, hold, and move the sky to what view of it you want to see.
      For the other aspects of what you asked, move your mouse toward the lower left. The pop out screen from lower left (not the bottom) has some options to click. Try the "Sky and Viewing" options then the "Markings" tab.

    Wondering if you can help. I can download Stellarium, but running it I get this message, a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. I have Windows 7 my system 64-bit I tried downloading stellarium 0.16.0 Thanks

    I've loaded Stellarium 0.21.03. The location setup window is a little different. I've added my coordinates, elevation, city name, region and made it my default. It is listed after a location reset is made, but when I select that new location, it gives me completely different coordinates. Any ideas? Thanks.

      Hmmm... I am not sure about that. I haven't uploaded the latest version yet. When I do I'll see if I can figure something out.

    I notice when Stellarium starts up, it points South. Is there a way to make the default startup view point to N? I live in Chile.

    • @Eyesonthesky
      @Eyesonthesky  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did a search in the User Manual and did not see anything. It's possible there is a way, but I am not a programmer, so I'm not sure. What I do know is that you can press "Shift" and then the letter "N" on your keyboard and that will instantly shift your view to north. So maybe just get in the habit of "Shift + N" every time you start it up and that will get you the desired view from the beginning. Hope that helps.

      @@Eyesonthesky Yes, thanks! I found that command and many more. This is great software!!! It's new to me, but I'll learn about it. And your videos are excellent and a great help!

      +lilmicro01 It's a great and very easy program to use; I'm making some tutorials on it right now to help users get started, and learn some of the more advanced features.

    My sky is frozen. Doesn’t matter what location I put in, it stays the same. Any suggestions?

      Might need to uninstall and then try reinstalling it. Double check that you have downloaded the correct version for your system too.

      I do not know the answer to that. You would have to ask in the Stellarium forum.

    This is like the quality from a smartphone. In other words cheap. The video is informative though and at least your not coughing close to the mic or have blurry picture.etc. So many ways it could be WAY worse.

  • @slap_my_hand
    @slap_my_hand 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should really think about buying a new microphone!

    • @Eyesonthesky
      @Eyesonthesky  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +StarTrek123456 It's not the microphone; in fact, I have several really good ones. The problem is that many of the screen capture software settings are designed to compensate FOR cheap microphones. So either I have to turn my signal WAY down low, and get a "lispy" sound, or the level is up in a more normal range, where the software "clips" the signal tops with a bad compression setting.
      The really odd thing I'm finding after trying about 6 different microphones I own is that the "cheap" ones' are sounding better than my "good" ones when I do this - probably because the software developers assume people are going to use cheap mics. That's been one of the most frustrating parts about re-doing my videos, is that the audio using the screen capture software is not anywhere near the quality I'd like. I'm working on fixing it though... strangely, I may need to get a cheap mic to do it...

    • @slap_my_hand
      @slap_my_hand 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eyes on the Sky You should use seperate software for video and audio. Audacity is free and many people use it, so you can easily find information about the programm online.

    • @Eyesonthesky
      @Eyesonthesky  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +StarTrek123456 I was trying to avoid doing that, because it's an extra step that adds time. Everything I'm doing in my studio at the moment is an attempt to make this more efficient, not less so. Doing audio separately is a step backwards. I have Audacity (I don't like it) along with a number of other means to record audio separately.

    • @slap_my_hand
      @slap_my_hand 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eyes on the Sky It's better to upload less videos with better quality than many videos which are crap. I know that it can be hard to do this, but it is worth it.

      +StarTrek123456 Are you saying this video is crap?
