I am a software engineer. Fixing the loading screen to display race for at least 5 seconds could be fixed within half a day of work.

It is probably more like 10 minutes of work, it's literally just adding a timer and checking it before loading into the actual game map, or two lines of code.

@@zxbc1 the fix itself, yes. But after that, you need to make sure it doesnt have unintented consequences (loading screen on single player for example), do unit test, code review, QA and push to remote..

@@davidpatry4195 The launching of the map mode (exit from the loading screen) is very likely already conditioned behind a synchronized check. You just need to add the check against the timer there and it's very unlikely to cause any issue as the existing check has already been thoroughly tested. With their proprietary code in an older game like this there's fat chance of screwing something up. With newer games that use a lot of third party stuff? Yes you will need to do new testing all the time. The problem with WC3 now however is that nobody who worked on the original game engine code is still working at Blizzard. So they probably have to actually go to the relevant code, read it, understand it thoroughly, maybe even check up on some notes and docs. In theory it would only take minutes even counting the deployment, but in practice these things don't, especially for 20 year old code.

​@@espada3074I'm wondering about that. This clip inspired me to try out SH FE with Saveorca's 2 grunt opening. It could be a good response to a FE. You can drop that expo really fast and then defend it with snakes, or you can be aggressive. You show up with a lvl 2-3 SH, 4-5 grunts, and start poking around their expo. They'd think you're all-inning them, but you've got an expo while tiering up behind it, and are there just to slow them down. It's not like they can ignore you, since you can trade expos and come ahead. And if they tower up hard, you might not be able to outfarm AM, but you're pretty close and leveling a much stronger late game hero.
The biggest issue I'm having is figuring out when I'm supposed to tier up. Also, I'm a noob, playing other noobs on bnet, so it might not be viable at high level.

My replays aren't going to help you out much, but I'll comment if I make a good one.
Large maps with an easy fe like lost temple were pretty good. Besides that, teranas and northern isles were decent because of good creeping routes for sh. I'll need to look into more routes, I've barely scratched the surface.
Merc camps are really nice in general, rock golems should be avoided.

Maybe its worth it to press print screen when the enemies race is shown and have paint up and tab out of the game to check the opponents race at the start of the game before you get your hero out, or maybe its to much of hassle.
