He decided he would play his own kind of music (unapologetically) and let the chips fall where they may. In early 1979, the family tradition album was released and Hank Jr's success continued to grow for decades afterwards! But I wrote this at a particularly terrible time in our relationship when she was on the verge of leaving me. I was an abusive, drunken asshole who used my PTSD from the war as an excuse to get away with a lot. I haven't drank in years and we ended up becoming pretty successful with work and have a house and whatnot now.
