As I was growing up a couple of my uncles and cousins and they had a band and would play most of the honky tonks around the area here in York county in PA and some other surrounding areas and mother and father we would go with them and they would drink and at that point in time children were allowed in as long as parents were their as they would sing Hanks and Jr's and thats what got me hooked and I also found myself liking Hank and Waylon and a couple others when I was in my mid 20's couple of guys from work and I got together sisco he played lead I sang their was 2 others can't remember their names but one played base and the other did the drums after about 3 or 4 months later we were doing pretty good we played for the neighbors the wife at the time got a little upset cause she wanted play with us but couldn't play the guitar that good and started showing out and ended up making me quit but every now and then I sing but I sing to myself , I still listen to Hank and Elvis , I'm 66 now and still think about what if , I really do like this song and 11 Roses , raining in my heart , totally great music for a great singer

In the early '70's Hank Jr. struggled with depression fueled by his dissatisfaction with the direction of his musical career. He was highly driven to be #1 in the Music industry yet his career just putted along with no great notoriety of his own. He finally broke through the musical hump by recording a "new" album called Hank Jr & Friends. Prior to the release of that album, Hank made a trip to Montana to do some hiking with some friends. He was nearly killed on that hiking trip. After leaving the hospital in Missoula, Hank returned to Cullman, AL and lived with the family of his new Manager (and old friends of Hank's) until he was able to gain enough strength and confidence to live on his own. Meanwhile, the new album was released and received little attention... Once Hank recovered from that Mountain fall accident, he was as driven as ever to be a musical success. He decided he would play his own kind of music (unapologetically) and let the chips fall where they may. In early 1979, the family tradition album was released and Hank Jr's success continued to grow for decades afterwards! This appearance on Hee Haw occurred just prior to the beginning of Hank Jr's well-deserved highly successful Career; finally, after about 20 years of hard work trying to establish himself as a true Singer/Songwriter/Musical Entertainer!
