That is actually true about LRH almost never revising his first drafts. Some random messenger boy would show up to his place with some cover art for whatever pulp magazine he was submitting stories to and he would just crank out a story based on that. I remember buying that book because it was recommended by a person that worked in a Barnes and Noble. Couldn't finished the first chapter. Kept the book as a reminder to not pick up a book based on recommendation without doing research on the author.
Battlefield Earth is the only movie that Ive seen that’s so bad I actually enjoyed it because how much it made me laugh. John Travolta force feeding Berry Pepper rats while wearing massive stilts and a wig is hilarious.
Battlefield Earth was a great book, the movie may not have been the greatest, but it gave you a visual of the book which oddly enough made the book even better.
A friend gave me a copy of Battlefield Earth as I was recovering in the hospital as a teenager. Still enjoy rereading it on occasion. His other books weren't as good. The movie was a huge disappointment.

Not only did Top Cruise fly the helicopter but he did the corkscrew maneuver with it too. That move is advanced and difficult, and he did it in a canyon. Very impressive.
The book is actually quite good. He may not have been a good writer, but the premise and story is great. Especially the last chapters that the movie didn't have in it.

That is actually true about LRH almost never revising his first drafts. Some random messenger boy would show up to his place with some cover art for whatever pulp magazine he was submitting stories to and he would just crank out a story based on that. And he wrote so fast that he wouldn't tell the messenger boys to come back to pick up the manuscript when he was done, he would tell them to _wait_

Battlefield Earth was a great book, the movie may not have been the greatest, but it gave you a visual of the book which oddly enough made the book even better.
A friend gave me a copy of Battlefield Earth as I was recovering in the hospital as a teenager. Still enjoy rereading it on occasion. His other books weren't as good. The movie was a huge disappointment.
