I actually like sanding on a nice classic car …. I had a buddy back in the 80 s that said to me , “ it’s hard to get excited anymore , I do it every day at my job “ … keep doing what you do in your garage and I ll shut my face now …
Sweet video, I've never bought acrylic blocks since I have a lot of scrap sheets of varying thicknesses and just diy them using duct tape fold as a handle, once they warp like that I've found it is not worth messing with since making a new one is pretty quick to do on the table saw, I cut the bent ones to smaller blocks. Durablocks are fine for most things but it's easier to mess up a panel with them in my opinion, especially since I am still pretty noobish when it comes to making a straight "one piece" looking type of car.
Is it slightly curved do to the old adage "There are no flat panels on a car"? That slight curve would be better on the roof than a truely flat block... wouldn't it? Thanks for the update!
The flexible blocks like the long 1/4” one with the tape handle are what you want to use on a curved surface. That big kid block was ment to be straight.
But there are flat panels. That’s how we learned these blocks were not flat, the ends were sanding and the middle was not, unless more pressure than you’d want was applied. Thanks for watching!
"Ahhh, fuhc THAT 120 BS...😒.....just get the 80 OUT, and get ta blocking!"......JK 😏.... But yeah, I HAVE worked for them kinda guys that swear they're a "restoration shop" with NO friggin CONCEPTION of good ol 120 grit....I came to find that it works GREAT for finishing lines/etc as well....😏👍
Check out a new block called Black Diamond it has rods in it. It looks like a good block I bought the kit so whenever I get to the Chevelle I will have some. Later looking good
@@SYFGARAGE Tried out my Big kid blocks today I don't know I think I'm going to stick with my Durablocks I've been using them for many years it's what I'm used to 🤷 I'll keep fuckin with these Big Kid blocks but can't teach a old dog new tricks 👊
@@taylorh3930 block something out with a durablock, then re guide coat and block it out with one of the big kid blocks, see what shows up. I still use durablocks, but i also use big kid blocks, luckys blocks, pieces of wood, sockets, pretty much whatever works lol.

Awesome. Making your own blocks is the way to go!

Yes. I have big kid blocks and lucky blocks. They are a game changer when you get used to them.

No more Linear blocks?
I don’t like the handles. I prefer the lucky blocks.
Riveting content lol, but still learning on every video. Thanks for the lesson.

Commenting for lawnmower coldstarts, primer how not toos and the allmighty algarithims...
Paint sticks make the best sanding blocks and they are free 🤫
Linear blocking tools, check them out.
I hate the round handles.
nice job
sweet
DA time , the ocean floor is deep 😁
Next vid will be using a DA to do it….
bad chad style
Good idea
Your plastic masking is inside out. you should be able to read PAINT THIS SIDE.
it was only on there to keep it clean while sanding the other car next to it I should have used the plastic that says ”PAINT NEITHER SIDE”
