I'm running a Patreon campaign to help cover time/effort costs associated with video capture and edit. www.patreon.com/thorium ...any support is welcom. I do charge yearly so while signing up might be a hassle, it need not be a financial burden. Thanks for any help, -Gord

If the FAA were run like the NRC we wouldn't have a single airplane flying.

When everyone in the chain is an avoider you're likely to avoid... i.e. do nothing. Nothing ever got done by doing nothing. Imagine if we had been using and refining Thorium MSRs for these last 50 years. Then someone comes in a proposes a LWR. They would be laughed off the planet.

tritium would be best stopped from leaking if it is captured in a chemical compound, for that you would need some kind of a sheath containing an reactant which has affinity to chemically bind hydrogen.

      Done for candu reactors.

So if we stick with the outdated LNT thresholds tritium will be an issue. If we update these regulations to real science, not so much. The NRC will fight tooth and nail to maintain antiquated regulations if it helps them destroy new nuclear.

Worse still such an admission would demonstrate the basis of much of their over-regulation of existing nuclear to have been utterly wrong.

On thresholds google : "DR John Gofman his life" According to Him threshold is an (1) electron hitting/crossing a living cell (1 hot particle in the lungs °...) . Keeping fission/activation products " in " ... what about environmental permits for radioactive substances activities and cumulative effects? Ultimately everything gets " out " starting with used fuel already a huge amount ... °DNA damage tracks

Doesn't have to be an issue if your fuel salt doesn't contain LiF or LiCl, even if the lithium salt is enriched to a very high Li-6 purity, Li-7 will still produce tritium.

Talk about analysis paralysis. Next generation must mean 30 years from now. The Chinese are reputed to have built two of these in 2 1/2 years and have them running. Dare I ask if anyone has attempted to look at their stuff?

to be fair, the government doesnt want them, so if you make the laws strict then it costs too much todo it and the return is so low its bad, just like efficency, anything above 50%~ efficent the government can classify and hide it from the public when using patents .

The American aircraft manufacturing industry started building on “acceptable” safety. Ask Boeing just how well that’s going.

What an executives consider acceptable and engineers are two different things.
