Thank you for heeding our advice and not speaking over the video!
Pro tip... skip back a few seconds when ta restart... so ya don't miss anything!
I’ll second this. It really helps the video. When you stop and talk just hit back one a few seconds so we don’t feel like there is a break in the flow of the song.
Your reactions are great and thus will add a little notch up for the experience.
Agreed
I approve this pro-tip
Ren has a lot of happy songs (Ren has a lot of EVERYTHING songs) but if you want to focus on mental health try CHALK OUTLINES (LIVE), HOW TO BE ME (LIVE), DOMINOES (LYRIC VIDEO), SUIC!DE, DEPRESSION, DIAZEPAM, INSOMNIA, HERETIC, PENITENCE, DO YOU BELIEVE and CRUTCH. I'll think you'll be impressed.
Yes to all of these songs ❤
This is a perfect list!!! Yes on all!!❤
I concur
Ren ‘has a lot of all songs’ 100%, there’s so many layers, but the thing I’m always left with is his moral compass is pointing in the right direction. Fame, money, power, these are not the things that are important…kindness, family, friends, consistency…that’s what we should be focused on. Sorry had a couple of drinks so am on my soap box 😊
yes to all of this and add in Seven Sins
You did a stint on generational trauma id love your take on the tale of jenny and screech by ren if youre up for it 😊
The would be great!
But if you do it, be sure to get the video that has Violet's Tale included as well, to close out the trilogy.
The pig comes from George Orwells Animal Farm it represents many things to do with rebellion, revolution, betrayal from the animals perspective against the human masters, much like our struggles in this new modern world with authority, corporate greed (including big pharma) and mismanagement, government intervention in normal society etc.
Animal Flow is another of Ren's brilliant mind at work.
Thank you for this, I had no idea about the Pig. I'm so into Ren right now he's such an artist and a truth teller and I REALLY appreciate the insight into Animal Farm. I am going to check thaat out next.
Much better flow on this reaction. You can be really good at this, glad you listened to the feedback!
I saw your reaction to Hi Ren. Props to you for responding to criticism. I thought some people were mean. Criticism should always be constructive. They were not nice or constructive but you took that & responded in this video anyway. That’s not lost on me, so I am subbing.😁
Thank you for all the wonderful feedback! As for the speed of the song, we had no idea the song was slowed until a lot of you pointed it out. But, in the future we will definitely double check that.
Did you get that he was bitten by a tick but misdiagnosed and told he was mentally ill instead?
@@itsakittyting This is the 3rd video and man she's just hard to watch. I don't think she really listens to the song...
Loved your thoughts on this piece. Thanks for sharing ❤ Hope you'll do more of him!
There is exert from Zack Sang interview on youtube where Ren discusses what the pig mask represents. If you search "Ren reveals the meaning behond the pig mask" you should find it
Really enjoyed your insight into this video! I think you would really enjoy Chalk Outlines, Dominoes and Seven Sins as well. Looking forward to more Ren reactions ❤❤
you should do Ren and chinchilla chalk outlines live next or how to be me live also Ren SuIcIde and for Joe
I believe the pig is connected to the book Animal Farm by George Orwell if my memory serves me correctly.
At 6:10 ... lol! Who else has been thru that? Docs don't care to listen, don't even hear your complaints!
Tick tock... watch the clock! Get them out asap!!!
Soooo Real!
Really great insights and sharing if your personal philosophy ❤
One BRILLIANT reaction! We the Ren-Army going to go with you on this journey.
Me: Clicks on therapist reacts to Sick Boi
Also me: begins taking bets on who flips the table first, Ren or the therapist watching that example of therapy.
About the Pig Man - Ren's words in an interview: "he's like an uncomfortable companion that represents greed, my illness... He's been there for so long that he's also my friend in a way.... like an ominous character the thing that's always there with me on this journey".
Lovely reaction. Its heartening to hear a therapist who understands the common approach so many of us have experienced is damaging. I'm here commenting on most of the reactions to this song I can right now particularly because Ren is having some copyright issues (not of his fault) with one of the beats he purchased and the video has been taken down and they're greedily trying to claim upto 100% of the royalties for his whole track "Industry is cutthroat" - oh the irony. I just wanted to bring awareness on his behalf

I loved finding your channel. I am an EMT but I also my psychology degree (trying to get my masters done). I have a lot of health issues and PTSD, severe anxiety etc. So as someone who deals with this, works with all of this and studies all of this and I love learning as much as I can, I think music is the best way to learn about most things but especially this. I subbed and look forward to seeing the fun 😊 Ren is great for mental health conversations as a few others. But you can’t miss with Ren 😊. Welcome to the fun world of him……and chinchilla 💗🙏🏼🇺🇸.
So good to listen to your professional insight, it was most interesting. If you had a room full of amazing musicians, actors , performers and songwriters all in different musical genres , they could all be Ren , he is so multi-talented it is hard to comprehend sometimes. I would love to hear you do Chalk Outlines Live ( must be the Live version ) with Chinchilla, it is so special. Ren in his band The Big Push and along with many collaborations are all MUST watch videos, my favourite being " Penitence" with Molly McKinna, closely followed by Humble and Ocean.
Thanks for taking us on your Ren journey!
Absolutely loved your reaction!!
thank you for reacting to my favourite artist ever sending big love to you and James from the UK ❤❤❤
I really appreciate your perspective on this! Would love to see you react to more Ren. There have been some really good suggestions in the comments already! And THANK YOU for not talking over the video ❤ Ren’s lyrics and visuals have so much meaning, he is so intentional. Don’t want you or anyone else to miss anything! Would really appreciate you going back just a few seconds after a pause too. I’d even be interested in seeing a second reaction to Hi Ren. You had really good insight into the overall theme/message but I feel like there’s so much more you probably missed. No one catches everything the first time anyway! 🙂
The pig man is feature in a lot of Ren's video. This fella is a multi talented musical Phenomenon (is that spelt right:). Always attention to detail is every aspet to create his music. For example. Even down to the way the synth in this is slightly higher in the mix when the therapist is speaking. Making her words difficult to hear and so you strggle a little to hear/make sense of what she is saying. Almost, as if mirroring Ren's/a patience state of mind/experience in this situation at times. And, yes, as others have commented. You have to do the 'The Tale of Jenny and Screech' Trilogy. It's imperative you do them in order and together:):) Glad you are pausing and I have subscribed:)
I was critical of your reaction to 'Hi Ren' and in fairness can see that you have taken on board many of the suggestions made by a lot of people on that reaction. I enjoyed this reaction and your own reflections.
As a little tweak to your game, scroll back a few seconds when returning after a pause, this way your audience and yourself will find it easier to reconnect with the flow.
Ren hasn't been specific about the pig people he has stated that he prefers to leave it peoples interpretation. but as you progress through his catalogue it will a lot more sense.
Understanding the pig will come over time and watching his catalog.
For me it comes to 'the darker side of self' and/or the comfortable self.
Rens' stuff is open to your interpretation.
Check out chalk outlines and some of his older stuff like diazepam.
Do Ren reactions and you with expand your views.
I'm here for it.
I started writing a long comment, but it got lost with a computer issue and had no energy left to start over. I will say that I appreciate your comments on this Ren performance and I am quite impressed. And thank you so much for this reaction. I would love to see more.
REN is a rabbit hole you will get lost in. Hes AMAZING!
Yay! More ren! If you want some more songs from him that focus on medications and/or mental health, check out chalk outlines (live), diazepam, and dominoes, to name a few 😊💜💜
As long as you stop the music to talk, the Renegades will hang with you.
Many of us have or are currently going through something related.
About the only time they get touchy is when someone talks over Ren or is openly dissing him.
Great insights and a solid reaction!
👍👍👍👌 Looking forward to more Ren Reactions ✌️♥️🏴.
My thoughts on the pig (I have no more insight than you) , is the thing he talks about in "Hi Ren" after the "News Flash" part.
I think he talks about the root of evil, which spreads to the doubt in people, and even society as a whole, and probably more that I can't think of right now.
It's so nice to hear your perspective on his songs!
Much better, that was awesome.
in the broader view, the pig comes from George Orwell's Animal Farm attaching all the satire inherent in the character. the would-be leader that wants to become more like his oppressors and eventually goes against the other animals in those attempts. The other view that i always saw was that of the "pig-butcher" and the irony of a butcher that slaughters other pigs. he makes another cameo in Hi Ren and Animal Flow.
Hello I am commenting on most reactions to this song as I can right now because Ren is having some legal issues and the video is down. I just wanted to bring awareness!
Me too - have just suggested on my RENactions! FB page that we all do this and shared this lovely reaction to it.

@@Veeliscious Thank you! 😊
Thank-you for sharing ^^
The Money Game Trilogy will probably appeal to u if your evaluating priorities. Or the Jenny and Screech and Violet Trilogy for artistic vision...the pig is used in this, The Hunger, Murderer, Animal Flow, and more....he has explained it a bit but also wants to leave it to individual interpretation as well
"There are no cures in medicine, just trading symptoms in a chemical lottery." Ren has a deep back catalogue of magical music and his message is very important for where we find ourselves right now.
I love the depth of your reviews! Thank you!
If you're eager to find peace and tranquility, might I suggest floating meditation.
If you can access a kayak, canoe, row or sail boat ... you can do floating meditation.
We do a simple tea ceremony, set an intention, and ring in the meditation with a singing bowl.
We often float for an hour in complete silence - immersed in our environment.
Magic
Napoleon was one of the animals more equal than others... (Animal Farm) So it kinda shows for me, how Ren suffered, when not taken serious in the (health) system.
Your comment on the meds hit me a bit. I didn't have the issues Ren went through, but depression, anxiety and a pre-existing PTSD all combined. Was quite a mess in 2020 and saw a psychologist and psychiatrist for the entire year. It took 4 attempts to find a meds combo that worked for me but in the meantime one of them made me constantly have tachycardia (hello side effect) and an ECG showed I was at risk of "sudden cardiac death" (hello side *grit teeth* effect).
BUT after finding the right meds for me it silenced the worst of it and levelled me out. I say to people the meds didn't 'fix' me but they bought room for the psychologist to work with me on finding ways to fix me. The 'coping skills' Ren refers to in Hi Ren.
It was a rough ride though getting the right meds, and I know that I was luckier than most (your 31% stat).
Anyway, here's to everyone going through this crap. Hang in there, one day at a time.
New subscriber. You have only the first glimpse of Ren. MUST REACT to Hi Ren, be prepared for emotions.
You have many questions for Ren, he is more down to earth than I think is humanly possible, from his songs like this one, HI Ren, tales of Jenny screech and violet, even in his Diss to king Dotta (his reply to king dotta in a Rap Battle) , he has one of the best messages given in such an absolute guineas, beautiful, melodic way. That I am only just now realizing how intelligent he really is.
did that already, but may be not what you expect...
This was written to speak Ren's anger at the years of not being really listened to.
Occasionally being treated with a dismissive and patronising smile and attitude.
He is very aware of the years that were lost to a physical bacterial disease that could have been reduced with correct treatment
He pretty much researched and pushed his own path to diagnosis
Ren's original experience with his label sound frim interviews to have been good
Unfortunately he was too ill to make music and it was a mutual parting
Maybe his more recent experience with industry has been different
Thank you for taking on board peoples comments and continuing to react to his music
Ren speaks about the meaning of the Pig in an interview with Zach Sang. There is a short clip from that video called, "Ren Reveals The Meaning Behind The Pig Mask." The whole interview is also worth watching for those who have the time.
Ren does a couple of short lyric videos that are worth checking out. I'd love to see your reaction to them both, they're Insomnia and Depression.
Ren voices the pain I have endured my whole life but never was able to put into words - Sertraline gave me a very rare form of cancer and nearly killed me, so say no to meds!!
Thank you! Ren stated the Pig is his dark side and illness. His companion.
Hello there! Just came across your Chanel and enjoyed the reaction. I highly recommend you react to a Norwegian artist named Aurora. I would suggest you watch Through The Eyes of a Child (Live Vevo UK Lift), Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1) Live, and It Happened Quiet (Live at Nidarosdomen). 😊

The pig can mean whatever we want it to mean but Ren sees the pig as his disease. Thanks for this reaction.
He is keeping the "pig" symbology to himself, but I noticed it tends to pop up when the "system" is bearing down on him and he tends to conclude he is part of that system as well so the pig can even apply to himself.
Please do Chalk Outlines live version with Chinchilla. It's a great commentary on depression and treatment with SSRIs, not to mention a stunning showcase of Ren's and Chinchilla's singing.

The pig is a recurring symbol in Ren's videos. As someone mentioned, Ren has loosely connected it to Orwell's "Animal Farm" (about the time he released his "Animal Flow" video) but it comes up in various circumstances in other videos as well. Ultimately, I think the pig has to do with people using and profiting off of other people despite the damage that their actions may cause (like the pigs in the book rising up as defenders of animal rights, only to become the new dictators, using and lying to the other animals for the benefit of themselves). It's not always in the context of medicine (e.g. we see the pig show up again in his song, "Murderer," which is more of a hip-hop flex bop than a particularly deep, message-laden piece) but these videos about Ren's health and treatment struggles are where many of us first encountered Ren's use of the pig mask.
As you mentioned, though, in the context of medicine and psychology/psychiatry, the pig mask carries a bit of a "butcher" vibe. In videos like this, I think it's meant to convey the idea of medical professionals who don't really care about the patient beyond how they can make money from "treating" them. It's humans acting like animals and damaging other humans for profit or from a lack of compassion/interest. I know that's not all medical professionals, but, like many people who've gravitated to Ren's work, I've met a number of jaded doctors in my own journey who listened to nothing I said and just wanted to throw more anti-depressants onto the pile in order to cover the symptoms as quickly as possible instead of seeking the cause of the symptoms and addressing that. Why? Because it was the fastest way to turn-and-burn the room so they could get the next appointment in and make that money. Whether that's inspired by their own greed (if it's their personal practice) or because they're being forced to hit numbers by a for-profit healthcare system is case-by-case, but there's a lot of it out there.
If/when you get to Ren's "Money Game" trilogy, you'll see another of his recurring visual motifs: A money bag over the head, representing the faceless, interchangeable people being held hostage by "the money game" that we're all forced to play if we want to live in society. The only people we ever see out of the bags are either (a) the people controlling the money game and abusing the hostages ("Money Game, Pt.1"), or (b) a character whose story we're zooming in on ("Money Game, Pt. 3"), in which case it feels like a character in a play suddenly stepping out of the background chorus and becoming the protagonist for a while. Ren is a great musician but his videos are also very theatrical and he's not afraid of a good bit of symbolism to get his ideas across. I think, given what you talked about in this video (simplifying, minimizing stuff in your own life), you might really like the "Money Game" trilogy. The first one is a little more disjointed musically than Parts 2 and 3 but they all have some very smart, important things to say and address different parts of society's ills that are connected to money. Of the three, "Money Game Pt.2" is the one I'd be most likely to listen to regularly on a playlist (it's the most song-like), and "Money Game Pt. 3" is the most theatrical and was one of those moments where Ren really levelled up as an artist and storyteller. All are good though and I'd love to see your reaction to at least Part 2 and Part 3.
This was a much better reaction method by yourself, thank you for hearing.
Apologies for my harsh comments to Hi Ren, my frustration caused me to experience an itchy trigger finger moment, and before I knew it, I was firing off.
I offer my appreciation for your kind and patient reply to me previous rant, and I acknowledge your efforts to grow with us. After all, Ren is aiming to teach, enlighten, and illuminate. He's not asking us for diagnosis
😊
Chalk Outlines, Line version is next for your personal journey.
It's about the effects of medications on the patient.
I always felt it was more about treating the symptoms, not the disease.
I think Ren is continuing the message of the harm done by SOME doctors/therapists who (to him) "push pills" as the answer to those who suffer mental or emotional difficulties ("There's a pill for everything")........Ren has been consistently critical (and angry) regarding his own experiences with what can be considered medical incompetence......sung with anger and sarcasm ! ...........btw, I think the pig is a symbol of those professionals who put minimal effort in treating patients and appears in many of his videos..........thank you for your reaction !
I believe the issues of over medication (especially strong painkillers) isn't as bad in the UK as it is in the US especially, but it's still the most tempting quick-fix for medics to adopt.
His social commentary shines through his own difficulties - he never pretends to have a solution, just can't get away from the glaring contradictions/failures.
'Money Game (parts 1, 2 & 3)' especially addresses this & apparently concludes that if all the guilty must be punished, then we all of us are guilty!
Ren said early on that the pig as a recurring theme is for us to draw our own conclusions.
Not sure if its already been answered, but Ren said in an interview, the pigs in his videos come from the book, Animal Farm by George Orwell, and represent his demons as well. He doesnt have a label and claims he doesnt want one either. Tysm for sharing!
Empathy for the patient is definitely important and missing from the system. Mental health isn’t covered on most insurance plans which leaves the majority without help. The focus is on how much money can be made, rather than helping people.
You seem like one of the good ones, hopefully you’ll spread that and bring some needed change. Left is best. ☮️☝️❤️🌍
nice reaction..but im not sure if it is just me,,but the playback speed of sick boi 😇😇when doing your reaction seemed a little slower than normal...maybe just me
Maybe she does it too try to defeat the copyright system? I know Ren doesn't do copyright strikes, but a lot of artists do...
yes it was slower i already informed her.
Thanks KUJOBEATS for the music Ren raps to - th-cam.com/video/yRDxHFYrGmI/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Please dear Ren will never put a claim on your video he wants that everyone can hear his music, so please you can play the original songs as is.
I dont think this is as true as it once was.
@@Hello_I_am_Jeff nonsense he will not change that. He loves the reaction channels and he wants to spread his music in the way they are intended.
Yep, he still regularly does 1-on-1 interviews with reactors
He wont copywrite strike anyone but his team wont let reactors freely go monetized anymore. Too many people just jumping on the money train putting out fake reactions for clickbait entertainment. @@jolandafrijlink6103
He has repeatedly said that if reviewers get a takedown or copyright strike, just email him. He'll get it fixed.
To me the irony of the pig-butcher represents the attitudes of modern capitalism, especially in the "health care" industry: profit at the expense of others
the pig is sort of a mix of symbolism, animal farm, lord of the flies, but also society in general, hypocrisy, greed, gluttony, complacency... we could probably go on for awhile with what a pig butcher can symbolize, but ultimately it's the ugly underbelly of humanity, but not just limited to a grand scale, it could be applied to something as personal as the soldier 'just following orders'. the important part is to understand that it's a fluid analogy. while Ren has made some appearances more overt (ex. see the whiteboard at the beginning of animal flow), he's also stated he wants to stop short of explaining it, and let the viewer decide it's meaning.
I would love to see you react to Tom Macdonald. Great reaction!!!
Ren didn't reveal the meaning of the pig, deliberately, for a long time. He was enjoying hearing people's theories, on what it represented too much. He also believes that an artist creates their work but the viwer/listener/reader completes the work. He eventually revealed it's multi-faceted meaning in his interview with Zach Sang. An interview which I think you'd find fascinating btw and in which Ren is as raw, honest, open and engaging as ever! :) The pig, on the one hand represents authority and the 'machine'. Whether in the medical industry, capitalism (partly inspired by Animal Farm) and politics. It also represents his illness. His illness has been a constant source of pain and suffering but that's the point, it's been with him constantly for 13 years. He said that he doesn't just hate it and want it gone because it's been a constant companion. Like an old friend, or part of himself. He's been seriously ill and in pain for so long, that he finds it difficult to imagine life without it.
Definitely check out the Zach Sang interview. It's an hour long but worth every minute! I'd also recommend his video response to getting 1 million TH-cam subscribers called 'Defining Succes - 1 Million Subscribers'. It's a LOT shorter and was made when he was in a bad place but it's equally revealing. The treatment wasn't going well, he was incredibly homesick, he was having a 'brain fog' and the side effects of the heavy medication were really hitting but he felt he had to put something out in response to the milestone. :)
As a bipolar Marine OIF veteran with ALLL the PTSD and a boatload of medical issues....yeah this song is dead accurate.
Ren's doctors are portrayed as Literal Pig-Headed Butchers. I think he might have some unresolved anger.
Please react to the big push wade in the water/Nina simone/trouble so hard. The big push was one of the bands Ren was in. It's a live performance on the streets of Brighton ❤❤❤

Yes it was i already informed her that Ren doesn't put claims on his music when reactors play his music.

I think there should be a hashtag #iamren
So if he's doing high ran and his left shoulders, the devil is right. Shoulder is the angel. Wouldn't this be the confusion in between the two the rambles scramble of the mind on which side to choose?
Ren didn’t have mental illness he had and still has Lyme disease he was misdiagnosed for more than a decade, she and the pig represents your profession who doesn’t listen and are so arrogant, make the patient culpable for their pain. It cause severe PTSD to us patients
Play the video then talk 4:44
I didn't know you were the feature.
He's not a fan of the capitalist system of the world. He has other videos that touch on it like money game part 1,2 and 3. I don't know if I agree with that but I can tell he has an honest heart for people, that I get. ❤
#FreeSickBoi
For everyone who's wondering, the video got a copyright strike and now his whole album is in danger. Ren and his team are fighting hard to get it back!
Here is Rens community post about it:
The sickboi video isn't actually just a behind the scenes issue. This is getting out of hand I'm really sorry for everyone who wants to watch the video. This situation is so fucked and runs deeper than I'm even going to say yet. I was sold a beat with a stolen sample which was a fuck up on the producers part but I gave him the benefit of the doubt, producers sample things all the time, so I wasn't massively pressed about it. Partly because of this and partly because of a fuck up on either the publisher or publisher collection society's behalf kujo hasn't received his publishing which I was trying to resolve, even working with kujo on after he and his team removed the song from TH-cam as leverage. Now no one ever told me this situation was even happening or that kujo was unhappy which is a fuck up on both kujo and my lawyers behalf (but giving my lawyer the benefit of the doubt i was in brain damage treatment so he probably figured I didn't need the stress) . I was trying to work really fairly with kujo and even willing to take a financial hit myself on something I shouldn't have because of a stolen sample, but the situation has now gotten ridiculously greedy using legal leverage and unfair loopholes. Honor the original contract. I have receipts of our entire conversation in case any of you guys are in any doubt as to what is happening here.
I've given the person and company responsible a warning that I'm making this totally public unless they resolve it asap. This could affect the entire sickboi album because of greed. They can do what's right or you guys will loose a big part of something I worked so hard on while going through one of the toughest periods of my life.
Even now I want to resolve this amacably but when they're asking for way more than what was originally agreed upon because of legal loopholes it becomes very difficult to keep giving the benefit of the doubt. I really believe in principle and kujo being paid fairley for making the beat which i am chasing (even though its not my department its the publisbers so im going above and beyond here) but honor the original agreement don't start chasing more because the song is sucessful off the back of my own hard work
Acrually fuck it, lets make it public, they also pointed out they could legally claim 100% of all royalities on this song over a youtube content ID technicality and loophole in the contract. Sadly the way the legal system is weighted against small artists there may be weight behind this, so not only are they asking for more theyre threateneing (or as kujo says 'pointing out') that they could claim the whole thing if i dont agree to the terms. Can anyone here tell me if they think its fair they claim 100% when they sold a song with a sample wrongly taken from somehwere else?
Welcome to the music business everybody
This whole thing started because the publishers fucked up and didn't pay kujo properly.
Honestly fuck this industry man
Parasites everywhere
That is so unfortunate and frustrating for Ren and his team! I hope that it can be solved amicably, but it is such a sad situation that he has to navigate when he just wanted to create. 💔
@@delightfulpod It truly is, he doesn't deserve that 💔😔

The pig remains a bit of a mystery but it seems to fit all the "sickness" of the world.
Check out REN ready for you video.
the pig is the system
As you were saying how important your editor is, I could see the tip of a gun in the corner of the screen. What's that about?
if you decide to do Money Game trilogy,
plz do it in one reaction.
as 'Tales' should be done.
I was on the streets and I've been through everything that he's been through. And he is dying now. I live in a place where there is no shelter. Society was built for the rich to exploit the poor and countries we rape and pillage in the name of progress. Give me another pill 💊 tell me how I feel in another week or so. I'm about to be homeless. I did everything that I could buy the book. Still ain't good enough. We're dying on the streets even though we're educated. It's a complete f*** fest
Yes absolutely the psychiatric and psychology system it's completely f*****. I was given pills when I was very very young single digest there are no bands. And now I'm on benzos. Thanks a lot for ruining my life. But it's nice to see somebody like you who gives a s***
Any reason the track has been slowed down, ever so slightly but sounds off?
We had a technical issue we have since fixed.
The song seems like it's a little bit slow. Speed wise
Nope, Ren is a true artist. When asked what a song or lyric of his means, he asks what it means to you, and whatever you answer, he agrees. "That's what it means, yeah."
The same goes even for something as consistent and symbolic in his work as the pig. I mean, I think we all basically know what it represents, but it's hard to narrow down to just one term or phrase. If I had to, I'd say something like "The exponential cycle of greed of late-stage capitalism" but it can mean subtly different things or different subsets of that concept in different videos, like in this one, to me it's more specifically representing Big Pharma.
Someone said something, either in a reaction video or an interview with Ren, I don't recall exactly, but basically, "Isn't it funny how many _treatments_ we have for things, and how few _cures?"_
Of course for many things we just haven't _found_ a cure yet... but for some things we absolutely have, and we just don't go to that as the default. Type-II Diabetes, for example, is a completely reversible and curable. It's preventable, too. But most of the time we choose to treat it instead, even with things we _know_ make it worse, like insulin injections.
It's not a conspiracy or anything... I don't think there was a meeting in a smoky back room where the Big Pharma execs decided to push insulin and Metformin and the rest, at the highest profit margins they could get away with. Rather, it's just a natural consequence of the misalignment of profit incentives with societal good.
In some industries, like manufacturing electronics for example, the basic profit incentive, which is to make the best devices as efficiently as possible, are pretty well-aligned with benefitting society, in that we get amazing devices for affordable prices. It's not perfect... the profit incentive can lead to things like planned obsolescence, environmental damage, forced labor, etc, so they need _some_ regulation, but overall it's fairly safe to unleash most of capitalism's ideals and let it do its thing.
In other industries, like healthcare or infrastructure, the basic profit incentive goes strongly _against_ the good of society. It's basically inevitable for the promise of continual profit and income from a treatment to incentivize treatments and disincentivize cures, so those industries (as every industrialized nation on the planet except one has figured out and implemented) are best if socialized or nationalized, or at the very least _tightly_ regulated (think utility companies for the tight regulation, vs. the NHS for nationalized healthcare).
Most industries fall somewhere in between, and need moderate regulation to maintain safety and benefit for society but also allow for the pace of innovation and competition breeding efficiency that capitalism can provide. For this, think of the air travel industry, still essentially capitalistic but highly regulated.
To me, the everlasting debate between capitalism, socialism, and communism is a false dichotomy (trichotomy?) The ultimate evolution of society, I believe, will converge on a sort of a la carte system, where industries and activities are evaluated and put into bins approximating all three systems. This is what the freest countries in the world are doing, and it's working _extremely_ well for them.
not sure but you seem to miss the point that the therapist in the video is 'misdiagnosing' his pain by telling him it's trauma, when in fact its the multiple effects of the lymes upon his mind and body, less so past trauma, although Joe's suicide did also have some effect no doubt.
video/audio is a little slow. doesnt sound right
Did you slow part of the video down?
Nice reaction🫶
I’m just wondering if any therapists, in that case you, learn something or improve their therapy after seeing songs like this or from any other artist.
Absolutely no offense, no one is perfect, failure is human. Just wondering if ren or other have impact not only by mental patients but by therapists also.
Love goes out to all of you
I think that his music captures the complex struggle of being human, having physical or mental illness, and living in a complex world when there are many things out of our control so it resonates deeply for so many. I have used his videos with clients and it has been really beautiful to see them feel seen and understood through his lyrics. Feeling seen and having a sense of belonging are so valuable to healing! I hope that you have felt that through Ren's music too! Sending love right back at ya!
@@delightfulpod
I went through many years ago. But I am still addicted to experience like that. As Ren said: it’s a dance that never ends. But for gods sake, I made my inner freedom and went off stronger
Can I make a suggestion? You are the Reactor and we're here to see your reactions but when you sitting in a little box in the corner we can't really see your reaction. We've all pretty much seen the video so maybe make your box a bit bigger and the music video smaller.
Is the Ren video in .75 speed?
There was an error when we uploaded it and couldn’t fix, so sorry! We are improving our tech gear!
I take a pills to wake up and I take 13 pills to stay awake anyways cuz I don't sleep. I'm insomniac so 8 + 13 really has 21 pills a day😮
The pig reference in all almost all of his music videos. The pig butcher the ironic. See it's ironic if you Google Batman and professor peg, you'll have a better idea of what the references all about. That's where it comes from😊
