      That's awesome to hear, cheers for letting me know. Goodluck in South Lefroy - it's been hammered all season but hopefully there are a few big ornates around out there

    Just got back to Perth from Margaret River,went to the coast, such a religious experience, that's the only way I can describe it, I fell in love with that area,and now I can't wait to get back there.

    Great series mate. I'm an absolute beginner and some of the techniques will definitely come in handy. I'll hold off on the snare for now and see how things go.

      Thanks a lot mate, appreciate the feedback. Loop could certainly come in handy if you are going after Red's 👍

    Epic Video mate! Man, persist with the cray loop chasing Western Rock Lobsters, once you get the hang of it, it is 100% worth it and you can slide onto a cave and loop them easy. You're definitely right about Tropical ones though, I wouldn't use a loop. We will have to go and do some training sometime man haha! This video was so good and comprehensive though and points out many of the pro's and cons of general lobster hunting! epic video man!

      @TheOutFit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha thanks a lot Legend! 100% I need practice with the loop! Hopefully we can get out there sometime soon

    Chris, great session (and I agree with your perspective on spearing). For a "beginner", you're presenting a good deal of information. Cheers.

    Great video Chris. I've watched you catch so many of these and never having done it myself, I've often thought of the best way to go about it. I'll definitely be giving it a go, once I've ordered my chainmail gloves 😉 ATB

    Catching red rock lobsters with a loop can take a good few seasons or years. Once you get one it's a good feeling and you're usually dialled in by then. I find I hardly use a loop now. I use it more as a tool to block, scare or scoop crays towards me and use my hands to grab them. Love the cat and mouse game with crays sometimes I'll spend over 20-30mins on one tricky cray 😂 Great vid

      So true! And the harder a cray is to get the better it tastes at the end. Cheers!

    You are required to clip the centre fin on the tail to show it is a recreational cray, which cannot be sold.

    Been looking for a video like this. been spearing a few times over the years but never caught a cray. going to make a proper mission to get some now. only thing is your Aussie water is much calmer and clearer that the east coast of South Africa so hope I can spot them.

    • @TheOutFit
      @TheOutFit  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's so good to hear - 100% give it a crack just mind the White Sharks. Goodluck!

    • @destination_lost
      @destination_lost ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheOutFit white sharks are more prominent in Cape area of South Africa. East coast we mostly have bulls and tigers. But there’s the occasional white now and then. But yeah, eyes are peeled for them 😂

    Spearing crays is not sport or sustainable and I congratulate you on calling it out as an irresponsible practice.
    Definitely one of your better videos. 👍
