I'm a journalist who also covered the story. In fact I quoted this very channel for some great insights on the attack! Based on that typo where they've said Internet Archive is up and running again after "it a ddos attack knocked it offline", it seems the journo was flustered and overwhelmed with this story. They were probably originally going to run "Internet Archive is up and running again after it suffered a ddos attack", then later pivoted to "Internet Archive is up and running again after a ddos attack knocked it offline". The fact this got through and also wasn't picked up in editing reeks of a time-poor, blustered crunch of a writeup. Happens to the best of us, but this level of misattribution is pretty bad lol.
Hi troy. Again this is the catch 22 thing: if you don't protect your privacy with some pseudonym or randomness factors, then your ID open to be used as by anyone who has access to it. If you do take privacy protection measures... it makes it seem like you've got something to hide/are up to/could be up to no good (as obviously a lot of crime happens via obfuscated means). Then there's the issue of being the product... anyone who is honest has or is paying the price of becoming a commodity and is lost in the confusion of it all. Including me... (and you too by the sounds of it) despite my efforts to learn and help with security where I can... anyone can point fingers now and blame some competing force as being the negative force thanks to the lack of trust and negativity fostered by the current state of global and local affairs. It f sucks mate.
