What is the speed of your motor? I don't know why but I always thought that was a metal disk you had on the sander. Thank you for all your great videos! BTW I'm feeling better now that you have at least a splitter on your tablesaw, I'd cringe watching you rip without one. Keep up the good work!

Great project but did we really need to see you fine file fitting that long?

Poetry in Motion: Just love your precision and workshop skills!!! What is the name of the adjustable steel protractor you use in this project and do you have a set of plans for the sander? Cheers from Down Under

Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. This Adjustable protractor I still have from my training. It was not new as i receive it. It's 30 years old for sure.
Australia? I've always wanted to go there.

No worries at all - and don't be deterred by some of the petty comments made by some viewers who obviously have nothing better to do! Do you have a set of dimensions for this project; it would be really great if you did? You could even sell them to interested viewers as other TH-camrs do? Yes Australia is a really great country (and I live in eastern Victoria - East Gippsland) but we are in an extremely bad long lasting drought pretty much country-wide and the present fires are totally unprecented with huge devastation that eclipses your country in total area burned!!! Cheers again.

The one question I have is this.....how many RPMs are these motors turning at??? I have been watching a lot of "how to build a sander" videos and NOBODY tells you at what RPMs there motors actually run at!! And in some cases some 1 horsepower or even a 1 and a half horsepower motor can run at insane speeds, which makes me ask this question!!!!
After all as it stands currently I have three motors I could use for a build like this!! One motor was salvaged from an old Craftsman table saw and disassembled because I couldn't find parts to put it back together (like a rip fence or even a replacement miter gauge) that motor spins at around 1750 RPMs which seems a bit fast for a belt/disk sander combo!! On the other hand I have another motor that came off a Craftsman Air Compressor that spins at something like 1285 RPMs which still seems pretty high for a sander BUT the one thing about that motor is it has a shaft sticking out of both ends of it, which is odd for an air compressor motor, but could be used to power a "combo sander" like what I just mentioned with a belt sander on one end and a disk sander on the other end!!! And like the table saw motor it is a 1.5 hp motor.
My third motor is another air compressor motor that turns at around 2500 RPMs and is a 2 hp motor off yet another craftsman compressor. I got it as "payment" for some work I did on a friends storage shed!! It runs amazing, but honestly not sure now what I can use it for!!
Lastly I do have a forth motor, that is a 1/2 hp motor that came out of a furnace and was the blower motor to move air around. The shaft diameter isn't very big but it runs well for what it is and spins the slowest at just 980 RPMs!! I am not sure why it turns so slow BUT it had a huge "bird cage" style fan on it so I don't think it needed to turn extremely fast anyhow to push air around!!
But again nobody talks about RPMs of their project motors and they only mention horsepower!!!

My motor has 1100 RPM's I the motor runs faster you may burning the wood while sanding. I would use the one with the 980 RPM's.

Ótimo trabalho, mas infelizmente o vídeo ficou acelerado demais, ficando complicado acompanhar o seu raciocínio/execução.

Your videos would be so much better without that annoying music. Just explain what you are doing.

I think using a file might have worked better for doing the keyway

    Why no narration???
You should redo this with your explanation and republish using the same video

Thanks. Yeah i know. This was at the beginning of my TH-cam career and i thought it would be cool. In newer videos are no music anymore.
