no she actually sang this version during the dangerous woman tour and again during the sweetener tour (also during the sweetener session before sweetener came out)
came back to this video to reminisce after listening to the live london recording 🫶 was always a little bummed out we never got the studio record of the og version, but now i guess we somewhat do!
This version is great but the new one really makes the song stand out cause it has such a huge meaning .
She used to enunciate so much. I'm guessing her vocal coach suggested to loosen up on her enunciating and to use all that breathiness to appeal to RnB audiences because her voice was too broadway style for that genre.
knuxfan23 Or the people she's been working with care less about making sure she's being the best possible singer she can be and care more about making sure they can squeeze as much money out of her as possible.
TheRealConcertKing Well, it is the style of RnB and Pop, you've never heard an RnB singer sound so broadway, it doesn't work well in that music. She's evolving musically I think, but I'd like to see her implement some of these techniques, she doesn't have to get rid of all of them to keep her current sound.

TheRealConcertKing But yes it is, look at almost every RnB singer. Their consonants are more slurred and they don't say everything how it's written/supposed to be said. This is a stylistic choice/something that they've always had a problem with.
She obviously didn't have a problem with enunciation back then, so it's obviously stylistic.

If you guys were wondering, it does take a while depending on the artist. It takes time. You can't just write and record songs and push them all together. You have to do the cover art, the name of the album or leave it nameless, editing the songs, promoting the whole thing. There a bit more to it than this but you get it. You just have to think about how long it really takes.

Her voice sounded best here for this song. Clear articulation and modulation. Tone is pretty and healthy sounding. Odd ending choice to drop an octave but interesting.
Idk her articulation was good but she’s way more agile now and her breath control is also way better. Furthermore her transitioning from chest to falsetto is way smoother.
