Record no 34 Quick Release Vice / Vise Restoration

As you may or may not know I love record vices. I seem to have a rather substantial collection. I really wanted a no 36 in my collection however I stumbled across this no 34 in a boot sale for only £10. Since I love the design of this vice so much I couldn’t cover it in paint. I decided to simply clear coat and polish the essential parts. As you will see in the video it turned out rather good.
As I started dismantling I encountered some stubborn jaw bolts. After removing them with an impact screwdriver I went on a mission to source new replacements. Due to its shape I couldn’t source new parts. Therefore I had to attempt fixing it myself. After a bit of welding and sanding I had something that resembled a bolt.
