It’s time for another Mount and Blade play through brother! This was so much fun to watch, it’s why brought me to your channel. I took a break from the game but found myself coming back to it and I need to brush up on some of your knowledge again. They’ve had some patches and updates since your videos though and they have new perk points on the perk trees. It would be nice to see an updated video and play through. I did a warrior style before and now I’m doing a half warrior/half merchant style play through. Always fun mixing it up! Just a suggestion. Have fun and keep up the good work!
Did not know you could do that with companions. Picked up 2 surgeons and im getting 2 soldiers healed a day now that im clan level 3. Keep the vods coming, very helpful!
The 2nd healer you bought for cheaper had a medicine skill of 60 but it was red, that means she is capped at 60 and will not level up any higher. The best surgeon you can get is a Scholar, you have to speak to them first though and hear their back story because a Scholar will either have a high medicine skill or a high engineering skill.
When setting the Clan Role do not use the left/right arrows to pick the role - you will overwrite other party members roles when clicking through them. Clicking directly on the role selector opens a drop down menu which lets you pick a role. Also, unfortunately the medicine skill only improves when resting in cities with wounded party members (only tested once but this is also mentioned in the "How to learn" tip). Meh.
@@JimRFF So apparently it already got fixed: They party surgeon now gets Medicine XP regardless of whether resting in a settlement or being on the road. No other party member gets XP though. Makes more sense, even though I think the skill tree is going to be tweaked a lot during EA :)
Another very informative video! There have been some saying this game is just Mount and Blade with better graphics. The stuff you have been demonstrating shows that is not the case. While I have only owned the game a day, I love all the enhancements over the previous game(s). Thanks for the vid and keep them coming!

I made a ton by first waging my 1000 in a tournament. Get 20 guys to a high lvl by eating looters and mountain bandits. Quartermaster the shit out of it. Invest all money in ranking troops. paying wages and food. Then join a faction as a merc. And go eat that factions enemies caravan routes. like 5k per victory. only to kill 20-30 mid tier fighters. But that faction will hate you. Not gone trader but im sure as sand faction starting and purchase a caravan will earn you a ton more.
workshops can be broken but they put in a limit. so its not 20k per day tho. for 0 uppkeep. But another great like tier 0 early early money is to never sell weapons. Sell armor. invest in hardwood. make coal. Smelt them down. suddenly a 20 denar blacksmith hammer in raw material is 300-500 denars.
Might be related to their weird presets. For combat-focused companions, their skill levels are way beyond the learning bar (making them get little to no xp) and incredibly high level (e.g. Lv 100+ weapon/riding/athelitics) resulting in a huge xp requirement. Not forgetting that because they're AI, they aren't getting 50~100+ kills like us or surviving for long (unless you leave them standing still) in huge battles. So unless you're leveling some low level thing easy to see (e.g. Rogue for party leaders or smithing), you likely won't see them gain a level for hours.
Great videos man. Looks like some of the tricks in this video have been patched as i just picked up the game recently, but still very informative and showed me several things i hadnt discovered yet as far as customizing companions. The game is lacking when it comes to showing you the level of details you can get down to, but its still early access so thats understandable and actually a bit of fun as i continue to find new aspects every time i play.
Hi, would you consider preparing a tutorial on the use of tactical troop commands? Things like the F1/F3 charge etc. Recommended placement of archers vs inf?
I found that if able placing ranged troop on a hill with infantry im shield wall just below. And cavalry in a flank position in wedge formarion on the side. works 9/10 as long as the enemy come for you. and as long as your not a bunch of peasants vs knightd and they outnumber the shit out of you.

I really enjoy thay every stat has a function other then just a + to dmg. hp or map speed. each tier gives you completly new ways to tackle problems.
Eeeehm.. the Companions are constantly spawned, they have „classes“ that are determined by the „surename“ they got, and no you can’t see all of the wanderers in die encyclopedia... while playing you meet more and more... I can’t be the only one who has seen this, right?
Aaron Fluegge and that’s what I don’t think... i thought I saw like 1 companion of each „surname“ in the beginning of my run, and after 20 hours, I had atleast 20 more 😄
They almost never leave in my campaign. I think everything he says here is wrong. Most these characters are just bland placeholders till the game gets fleshed out more.

I Think companions are also generated randomly, the last name is always going to be associated with their specialization for some reason. This is an interesting decision from dev's, I like it! Also I think their traits apply only in dialogues and the like, I am not sure they have a reaction on your decisions, also it seems they don't fight anymore (as in Warband), what a relief!
Yeah turns out none of the heroes you showed had the same attributes in my game so it seems to be random, so people will have just have do their research, witch i might add you did a fine job of showing us how to do :D
If you want to crank up your own skills you can always assign yourself to get the camp specific bonus xp. Quartermaster will give bonus steward xp for food variety
Hi, any chance you could make a video about leveling the Charisma related skills? Charm and Leadership just refuse to level for me, I'm usually over 65 Morale through food variety and stomping all looters on my way but leadership doesn't increase. And Charm doesn't seem to level either after doing missions for people all day.
I got allot of steward ship by stocking up on food. going in as a merc for a faction. then when they raise an army i join. since normally the npcs are terrible keeping there men fed. So you get constant message of.. sharing food with starving army. and increasing steward and relations with the lords in that army.
this happens when you assign roles with the arrows, this is because whenever you are clicking through the roles, it auto assigns them to whatever one you have clicked on this then takes the role from other companions. To avoid this, use the drop down menu each time. Hope this helps.

Tom B Danny mentioned that you can make a separate party for your companions. Slight problem with this is that I haven’t unlocked this option yet. So I’m doing the solo strategy and have companions. Instead of the separate party thing you can just order the companions to retreat at the beginning of each fight. Seems to be working
Companions are bugged. There's a good chance they won't actually appear in the encyclopedia listed location. My advice would be to snatch up the first scout and surgeon you encounter just to get those critical party slots filled (you can always upgrade later). After that, cruise around at your leisure and pick up any decent companions you encounter in taverns. They only cost between $300-$3000 to hire, so it's not a huge loss if you need to dismiss them later on.
I toggled off the automatic companion skill allocation option yet the game is still giving them skills WITHOUT MY CONSENT. Not sure if it's a bug or what
hey so there's this quest down south, aserai territory, noble wants his daughter found. Isna the Wanderer is her name, let her go! she's an absolutely amazing companion!! in the games where i don't get a willowbark spawn on day 1 i go straight for her (and any other "the wanderer" that is in game). I've got one save file with Isna on +5int +5soc, she's either my healer or quartermaster
That saving before and loading save file again after to get random stats better isn't working anymore. At least not for me. I've done it for one companion 20+0 times and it's always identical even amount of money he ask. I think devs thought it was an exploit and they patched it. Please confirm it. Love your content!
@ESO do new companions appear after time? My list of wanderers is like 1/3 of yours and even the patch didn't change anything. Appreciate your tutorials by the way.
Yeah, it's something I still don't get why there isn't just an icon for the encyclopedia in the main 'campaign screen' it's silly, in my opinion, they should add it, Warband had the notes section easy to reach, in this it feels like they didn't even want you to have access to it... my tip, check the controls menu, there's a quick hotkey you can use to access it instantly.
Yes you just press N, i honestly did not check until now though. They need to make it more visiable and exsplain how you can search for people in the tutorial. Or even outline WHO you should talk to in a list.
I have found Lath the Scholar to have a 122 healing skill and he has stayed at Jamayeh Castle for over a month in game. I cannot find him in the castle dungeon, Hall or wandering within the walls of the castle. Any suggestions as to how to locate and talk to him about me taking him on as a companion?

Pretty sure you can, it's not just your companions thought but your troops as well since you can like order them and stuff. In fact in the beginning for most beginners your troops will be the one killing all the looters.
The companions are actually randomly generated. That or they are picking a small number out of a very large pool of potentials I suppose, but almost certainly randomly generated. Every time you start a new game all of the Wanderers are different. The nobles are set, but the wanderers are different. The Finding the Lost Daughter quest can actually have the generated characters there become hireable wanderers.
That and family feud quest. Once I took the character to another village to solve the quest but the other character wich I was supposed to talk in that village did not enter the quest. You just clicked on him to talk and he just started a normal talk, thanks to that the quest character became a companion in my party
Quick question: My trader leading a Caravan has level up, but it says cannot attribute without the companion being in the party... Do I need to disband my caravan to upgrade my companion trader? What to do, just wait? is there a better time to disband?
hi guys, im just asking if the scout,surgeon,etc (clan role) are needed to be in your party to work? or it is ok to send them to make caravans/army and there roles are gonna still work?
Are you sure that tactics and rogery of companions work on your party? Medicine and scout should work because of role in clan, but tactics and rogery don't have roles. And the problem about this companions is that they lvl up extremely slow - medicine is on it's maximum lvl, and she can get new points only in fight skills.
It's only for PC right now right? Saw on another video said was on PC and console early access but it's on neither console. This is the only single player (idk if multiplayer in this one also) that I'm remotely interested in
Sorry PC only. Don't expect a console port until 2-3 years minimum. PC early access won't be finished until a year from now or so according to early access from devs
Character first names are randomized per campaign, they stay recognizable by nicknames however. Also there's a bug that makes one radnom nickname always appear twice, and the second one will have a "generic background" story.
Plying Kenshi atm & watching ur vids. This game seem to be worth to dive in for big amount of time. But still I don't wont to lay my hands on M&B2 b'coz I want more content... more mods & etc. It is just on early access... Kinda rly don't want spend like few weeks to explore this game, then play it for 1 more month then getting bored and drop it. Also having not a lot of wish to check it again & again after each minor update. I guess I will have a patience to wait for another 6 months ... or even whole year.
Companions will never die, they just unconscious and will recovery later like you do. Keep it in mind that if you lose a battle chance are you or your companions will be keep hostage. So it is best to give them best equipment and let them charge in first during battle so they can level up, and tank for your troops
W yeah i know it is for other heroes, but it cost a lost to grown/equip the companion, so i don’t think any1 will have it turn on during normal play through
Someone on reddit showed how to enable the spawn of ALL companions, including the Aserai and Khuzait ones, by editing an xml file. Very easy and takes 2min.
The orange skills can't be increased beyond that point. Unless I'm missing something. Even when I add focus points. It doesn't move beyond the orange. So medicine will forever be locked at 60 if it is orange
What bugs me is its the 1800s and no offense to anyone but historically speaking woman were not heros, iunno just seems weird to me there's more woman then men for companions, don't get me wrong but history is history, good video btw
Dunno if you said it in the video, but it should be noted first names will vary, but family names are constant for given stats I.E. Frostbeard will always be the best scout and Willowbark will always be the best surgeon.
Leveling up companions without combat when they don't got stats or focus points is rather hard. for that healer I would use steward (clan role Quartermaster) to get some SP, maybe refining some charcoal for bonus SP and if it turns out to be rly hard to get all the SP you need, make the healer your scout (clan role scout). After all, every skill has a hard cap so you need to train your companions skills depending on their attributes and focus points before you set them to a role they are hard caped from training.
Hello, i have a problem with my towns production, its on minus 8 and my loyalty is around 40ish will it raise when i get it higher, also food is positive.
Awesome guide - HOWEVER, what are the correct roles assigned for? We know scout is scouting, obviously. We know surgeon is medicine. What are the other two? Quartermaster (leadership?) And the last one?
Engineer helps rebuild wall. build siege equipment and town Projects. Quarter master i think Maintain food so peopöe dont eat as much aswell grant xp boost tp train troops. By assigning a role you chose to use that clanmember with that stats and they will lvl it. So make sure to recruit companions with high skills and set them in the right.
Also having a member thats good in example Roguary allows you to send someone to just complete such quests. in a few days allowing you to focuse on other things.

Romar, you'll lose money for the first couple of weeks with a caravan, gold cost is 300-400 a day in wages.
spam army of poachers quest, get a wood mill at ocs hall, contiue farming poachers quest, then buy a caravan

SO I tried constantly reloading the game to see if the character traits do change, some actually don't for some reason.
i have this same issue, multiple companions have the same stats, thousands of enemies and hundreds of battles later....same stats lol, no fp or sp

You haven't it's all bout stat rolling them basically bc their surname determines their class

Pro tip: Clicking on the followers name in the tavern opens the Encyclopedia and you can see stats before you hire them.

Charm and Leadership just refuse to level for me, I'm usually over 65 Morale through food variety and stomping all looters on my way but leadership doesn't increase. And Charm doesn't seem to level either after doing missions for people all day.
I think keeping up morale with food actually levels stewardship.
I can't work out how to level leadership either....
release ppl instead of taking them prisoner. Thats leveled my charm skill 1 every time
I lvl allot of farm by sweet talkimg traders in missions. allowing captured lords to go free.

I got allot of steward ship by stocking up on food. going in as a merc for a faction. then when they raise an army i join. since normally the npcs are terrible keeping there men fed. So you get constant message of.. sharing food with starving army. and increasing steward and relations with the lords in that army.
You can also press N to open the encyclopedia tab.
Would it be possible to make a guide for battles? Having some trouble commanding troops effectively and you explain things about the game really well.
Lvl up tactics. Will give you more options. and allow you to deploy before battle amd set up more.

Companion roles are bugged. They are constantly auto switching to "none".
this happens when you assign roles with the arrows, this is because whenever you are clicking through the roles, it auto assigns them to whatever one you have clicked on this then takes the role from other companions. To avoid this, use the drop down menu each time. Hope this helps.

Tom B Danny mentioned that you can make a separate party for your companions. Slight problem with this is that I haven’t unlocked this option yet. So I’m doing the solo strategy and have companions. Instead of the separate party thing you can just order the companions to retreat at the beginning of each fight. Seems to be working

Companions are bugged. There's a good chance they won't actually appear in the encyclopedia listed location.
My advice would be to snatch up the first scout and surgeon you encounter just to get those critical party slots filled (you can always upgrade later). After that, cruise around at your leisure and pick up any decent companions you encounter in taverns. They only cost between $300-$3000 to hire, so it's not a huge loss if you need to dismiss them later on.
I toggled off the automatic companion skill allocation option yet the game is still giving them skills WITHOUT MY CONSENT. Not sure if it's a bug or what
My best companion is Kara The Shieldmaiden, she started with 10 vigor, 160 one handed/polearm, and 200 two handed...

hey so there's this quest down south, aserai territory, noble wants his daughter found. Isna the Wanderer is her name, let her go! she's an absolutely amazing companion!! in the games where i don't get a willowbark spawn on day 1 i go straight for her (and any other "the wanderer" that is in game). I've got one save file with Isna on +5int +5soc, she's either my healer or quartermaster
My fave part of this vid was the fact ESO’s head was above the body on the character screen. Dunno if that was deliberate, but I hope it was.
That saving before and loading save file again after to get random stats better isn't working anymore. At least not for me. I've done it for one companion 20+0 times and it's always identical even amount of money he ask. I think devs thought it was an exploit and they patched it. Please confirm it. Love your content!

So are you saying loading old save and hiring her will auto-gen new stats? Cuz sadly all the healers I have seen have a 0 int. Same stats on reload.

Yeah, it's something I still don't get why there isn't just an icon for the encyclopedia in the main 'campaign screen' it's silly, in my opinion, they should add it, Warband had the notes section easy to reach, in this it feels like they didn't even want you to have access to it... my tip, check the controls menu, there's a quick hotkey you can use to access it instantly.
Yes you just press N, i honestly did not check until now though. They need to make it more visiable and exsplain how you can search for people in the tutorial. Or even outline WHO you should talk to in a list.
If you make your companion as head of a party then you can call him to your army without spending influence points!
I have found Lath the Scholar to have a 122 healing skill and he has stayed at Jamayeh Castle for over a month in game. I cannot find him in the castle dungeon, Hall or wandering within the walls of the castle. Any suggestions as to how to locate and talk to him about me taking him on as a companion?

Pretty sure you can, it's not just your companions thought but your troops as well since you can like order them and stuff. In fact in the beginning for most beginners your troops will be the one killing all the looters.

Does Scout or Tactics matter more for a caravan leader? I am thinking scout so they can be more aware of the surroundings.
The companions are actually randomly generated. That or they are picking a small number out of a very large pool of potentials I suppose, but almost certainly randomly generated. Every time you start a new game all of the Wanderers are different. The nobles are set, but the wanderers are different.
The Finding the Lost Daughter quest can actually have the generated characters there become hireable wanderers.
That and family feud quest. Once I took the character to another village to solve the quest but the other character wich I was supposed to talk in that village did not enter the quest. You just clicked on him to talk and he just started a normal talk, thanks to that the quest character became a companion in my party
Quick question: My trader leading a Caravan has level up, but it says cannot attribute without the companion being in the party... Do I need to disband my caravan to upgrade my companion trader? What to do, just wait? is there a better time to disband?
hi guys, im just asking if the scout,surgeon,etc (clan role) are needed to be in your party to work? or it is ok to send them to make caravans/army and there roles are gonna still work?
Are you sure that tactics and rogery of companions work on your party? Medicine and scout should work because of role in clan, but tactics and rogery don't have roles.
And the problem about this companions is that they lvl up extremely slow - medicine is on it's maximum lvl, and she can get new points only in fight skills.
I agree. My companions haven't leveled yet after hours of gameplay. And roguery and tactics are no party skills...
So how can I make my companions not attack? He talked about it but I didn't see him showing it...
It's only for PC right now right? Saw on another video said was on PC and console early access but it's on neither console. This is the only single player (idk if multiplayer in this one also) that I'm remotely interested in
Sorry PC only. Don't expect a console port until 2-3 years minimum. PC early access won't be finished until a year from now or so according to early access from devs
Character first names are randomized per campaign, they stay recognizable by nicknames however. Also there's a bug that makes one radnom nickname always appear twice, and the second one will have a "generic background" story.

Plying Kenshi atm & watching ur vids. This game seem to be worth to dive in for big amount of time. But still I don't wont to lay my hands on M&B2 b'coz I want more content... more mods & etc. It is just on early access... Kinda rly don't want spend like few weeks to explore this game, then play it for 1 more month then getting bored and drop it. Also having not a lot of wish to check it again & again after each minor update. I guess I will have a patience to wait for another 6 months ... or even whole year.
Companions will never die, they just unconscious and will recovery later like you do. Keep it in mind that if you lose a battle chance are you or your companions will be keep hostage. So it is best to give them best equipment and let them charge in first during battle so they can level up, and tank for your troops
There's an option to enable companions to die.
W unless you are hardcore player who do 1 life challenge, otherwise who is crazy enough to do that. . .

fun fact: Companions vary in each playthrough :-)… so best check your internal game encyclopedia pressing "N" :-)
Someone on reddit showed how to enable the spawn of ALL companions, including the Aserai and Khuzait ones, by editing an xml file. Very easy and takes 2min.
The orange skills can't be increased beyond that point. Unless I'm missing something. Even when I add focus points. It doesn't move beyond the orange. So medicine will forever be locked at 60 if it is orange
What bugs me is its the 1800s and no offense to anyone but historically speaking woman were not heros, iunno just seems weird to me there's more woman then men for companions, don't get me wrong but history is history, good video btw
Dunno if you said it in the video, but it should be noted first names will vary, but family names are constant for given stats I.E. Frostbeard will always be the best scout and Willowbark will always be the best surgeon.
In my game reloading does not change anything, f.e. the healer still have 0 against intelligence. Maybe they fixed it to not take benefit?

Leveling up companions without combat when they don't got stats or focus points is rather hard. for that healer I would use steward (clan role Quartermaster) to get some SP, maybe refining some charcoal for bonus SP and if it turns out to be rly hard to get all the SP you need, make the healer your scout (clan role scout).
After all, every skill has a hard cap so you need to train your companions skills depending on their attributes and focus points before you set them to a role they are hard caped from training.
Can you level up past the green portion for a skill?
Far as i read yes. But your focuse and stat increase the rate you gain up to that point.

We know scout is scouting, obviously. We know surgeon is medicine.
What are the other two? Quartermaster (leadership?)

Engineer helps rebuild wall. build siege equipment and town Projects. Quarter master i think Maintain food so peopöe dont eat as much aswell grant xp boost tp train troops. By assigning a role you chose to use that clanmember with that stats and they will lvl it. So make sure to recruit companions with high skills and set them in the right.
Also having a member thats good in example Roguary allows you to send someone to just complete such quests. in a few days allowing you to focuse on other things.
