I have a 2019 V-Strom 650 xt w/ owners manual. According to manual, adjust chain slack to 0.8 - 1.2 inches while on side stand (rear wheel would be on the ground). Center stand is good for cleaning/lubing chain. Hope this helps. Ride safe!
Hi, First let me say that I love your videos so keep them coming. I've had bikes in the past but am a bit too old now (70) but still have a keen interest. Regarding the vibrations in the bars, I've seen numerous videos on youtube of V Strom owners having this problem and a lot of times it was caused by fitting crash bars to their bikes. Apparently they can sometimes act like giant tuning forks and cause vibes. I know some people have put extra rubber washers at the mounting points with varying degrees of success whereas others have either removed them altogether or just live with the problem. Cheers, Graham from England.
I had a friend help me check this and he didn't think there was any play in the front end when we checked it but will check it again. Was thinking about going ahead and changing out the bearings no matter what before heading out on my long trip in August. thanks for the input!

Thank you for the info!!!
I agree that you should check the Steering Head Bearing. With front wheel off the ground see if there is any front to back play in the forks.
Thank you for the input!!! I am going to check this again with my friend this week
if I'm correct chain adjustment shoud be done with the rear wheel on the ground
Absolutely correct! I actually adjusted it again down on the ground.

Yep, crash bar definitely acts like a tuning fork as mentioned. May or may not be the culprit. Rubber washers may be a cheap fix.
I have thought the same also... Going to try that this coming week
I hope that is the case!!!
Hi, check the steering head bearing adjustment. It sure needs 1/8 of a turn. Hope this solves the shaking issues

do you have a manual for that bike? if not, get one!
I don't but I am getting one.
