I'd have no problem with seeing Walsh's performance at SC worlds as swimmer of the year material in a non-olympic year. But we can't pretend that the Olympics isn't what every swimmer has worked toward for the last 3 years. Especially since we witnessed some jaw dropping accomplishments despite the less than ideal conditions at Paris, there's just no way SC performances can trump that imo.
For the Abbie Wood first international individual medal, it's her first at a world level. She's medalled individually at Europeans and Commonwealths before
Something very worrying is going on with Bath and McNulty. For the past two years, their performances at major championships have just not been good enough. E.G. Jacob Peters has been on a very steep decline since European SC champs this time last year, I mean how has he gone from saying 3 weeks ago that he was targeting the 21.75 previous 50 Fly WR, to not even making the final in either the 50 or 100 at the World Champs? Gammon and Freya both said they were disappointed with their performances at World Champs too. Even swimmers like Guy, Richards, and this year Ed Mildred have recognized this and have all improved once they made the move away from Bath to Ryan Livingstone. McNulty was arguably our best coach for almost 15 seasons from 2008-2021, but it's time for him to retire imo and the whole Bath setup needs a revamp.

Just watched Summers 400 IM and Free and 200 Fly .. on the fly she holds her head down for the first stroke on every fly turn but on the freestyle she breathes out of every turn .. Surely she should have better skills than that on the freestyle ?

FYI Summer breathes off the turn in the freestyle, every time...
It's a really bad habit that literally slows you down .. i'm still scratching my head why her coach hasn't sorted that out yet
