[182] How to decode the ABUS 165/40 with my new method 💡

I played around with this ABUS 165/40 quite a bit, and then I found something that I have not seen mentioned in other videos so far.
Maybe this helps you to retrieve your lost combination, or maybe it just helps you to decode this for fun.

This is a fantastic method. I am finally feeling like I can get somewhere with this lock. I understand it's operation now and what I am looking for. I can only practice for a short time and then rest my hands and fingers because of arthritis, but I will keep practicing and let you know how I get on. It's a kind of relief if you don't apply tension with your fingers but use a string - after you found which barrels lock at even and uneven positions.

It is just a minor thing that I found, but it seems like all ABUS 4-wheel combination locks are affected by that (see also video [185] where i show this multiple times). The technique I show here could definetely use some more finesse, since it is just a brute force attack using indirect feedback. I think if you mix a more direct feedback method into the process you can get the locks open super quickly. During dialing I sometimes already feel "good numbers", but for sake of this video I wanted to keep the dialing process "dumb" and just continue "brute-force".

Hey, very interesting 🤔 I don't know if they changed it at some point to a poorer build quality or so. Sometimes, also usage over several years can help to smoothen out the tolerances, making it harder to decode. Where do you live? Maybe you can send it to me as a challenge 😅

Man kommt nur bei allem leicht aus dem Ruder, was nicht zum Schulenglisch zählt. :D
Das Problem ist nur, dass die meisten deutschen Zuschauer nicht mitkommen, wenn Hintergrundwissen und Sprachkenntnisse fehlen.
Ich verzweifle gerade an einem 145/40, bei dem sich eine Walze rastfrei drehen lässt und zwei Walzen immer genau denselben Widerstand bieten. :D Ist vermutlich irgendwie defekt, der Defekt wirkt aber auch als Knackschutz. :)
Ist keine Hilfeanfrage - nur ein Hinweis, dass es so was gibt.

@@JoernR ja danke 😅 viele Begriffe rund um die schlösser kannte ich auch erst mal nicht. Lernt man einfach so nicht in der Schule. Mittlerweile kenne ich Dank dem ganzen YT teilweise eher die englischen Begriffe für manche Bauteile, als die deutschen 🤪
Oh, das ist seltsam, dass das durchdreht. Weißt du denn die richtige Kombination? Das hilft oft, um ei Gefühl für das Schloss zu entwickeln. Wenn ich bei den Walzen 1-3 auf eine falsche Zahl gehe, also keinerlei "Gate" dort einstellen, dann dreht sich Walze 4 auch ohne einrasten durch. Vielleicht ist das bei dir ähnlich?
Das sich Walzen ähnlich stark bindend anfühlen hatte ich auch die ganze Zeit, deshalb hat bei mir diese indirekte Methode besser funktioniert.
Manchmal hilft auch stärker spannen, um bessere Rückmeldung vom Schloss zu bekommen 💪🤔

@@LockFumbler - Rehoi! ;) Fachsimpeln würde schwierig, weil ich nicht wirklich vom Fach bin. Das eine oder andere Zylinderschloss kriege ich wohl auf, auch so ziemlich jedes Zahlenschloss, habe mir auch meine eigenen Picks gemacht; aber damit hört's auch schon auf, die Erfahrung fehlt.
An meinem 145/40 verzweifle ich. :D
Kombination ist bekannt, die Durchdrehwalze ist Nummer 3, die rastet nie beim Drehen, nur ins Gate und die falschen Gates. Klickt auch nicht beim Drehen, hakt aber dafür. Stärker Spannen nützt nix, bei diesem Schloss fühlt sich auch eine korrekt eingestellte Zahl nicht lockerer an.
Ist die silberne Variante - ich habe das gleiche Schloss auch nochmal in Messing; das kriege ich auf.
Wie gesagt - vermutlich einfach irgendwie kaputt. :)

Cool, dass du picks selbst gebaut hast 👍 da habe ich bisher fast noch gar nix gemacht ausser für das eine Kaba, da kam ich mit den normalen picks nicht zurecht.
