    This channel is gold. I need so many of these tools and my
    Company won’t purchase them because I’m the only one that will use them and they are so freaking expensive. I can’t wait to make this thank you sooooo mich

      thanks for the comment:)
      this is a very cool tool...bear in mind it is not the equivalent of a $5000 5 gas analyzer...but it will sniff out any hydrocarbons if present

    I hear the excitement in your voice during testing. Well done. I like the gadget. That's the way to go, diy homemade functional tools. YES.

    You may want to consider this tool for commercial purposes. Considerable value in your invention. Many possible uses for it. Very well done and thought out.

      I'm too old to seek and defend patents:)
      All being shared. It's the only 1 right now, but this channel is VERY global and in a few weeks there will be units 3D printed and build around the world. I get satisfaction from that...

    • @oldwrench4213
      @oldwrench4213 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Understood. As a holder of several patents, your analogy is on the mark. Age does make us less aggressive in pursuits. I still produce new ideas, but am too damn lazy to deal with lawyers. They cause more problems than they solve. 😁

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And it's a double edged sword...we tend to only be concerned about others infringing on our patent and the cost of defending it.
      What if (inadvertently) we infringed. There's so much stuff out there maybe we'd get sued. And that would get expensive.
      I can either get buried with these ideas or share them while I'm still breathing. That's how I look at it:)

    After your demo test I was hopefull the head gasket test might work, clearly it does! At work I often use the blue chemical based test for combustion products in coolant. This new gas analyzer project will defiantly get the dust off my soldering station . Thanks so much for all your work !

    what do you think is the cause of CO2 detection in the known good vehicle? I’ve often wondered about this and I have used 3-4% as a low threshold for failing headgaskets.
    I’ve tried to find information about what other processes can cause CO2 to develop and came up empty handed other than carbon based life breathing and the burning of hydrocarbons.
    I don’t like testing for hydrocarbon in the cooling system because I do not know what kind of product have been used to try and stop a leak. If those products had a small amount of HC then the test is invalid. On top of that many vehicle I’ve tested with confirmed headgasket failure show CO2 in the cooling system but show no HC. The only ones I’ve been able to detect HC on were vehicles that has excessive unburnt fuel cause by a misfire.
    Thanks again for the great tool and test series.

    Parts are on order.
    Will use a M5stack that I had around waiting for an application.
    So there is a direct readout on the unit.
    Will also try to reduce the air volume involved to reduce time for measurement up and down ramps. Is there a need for the relative large volume ?
    like avoiding airspeed at the sensor ?
    Thank You very much.

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      there is no "air speed" at the sensor...small air pump only draws 2.8L/min ... just right, I think ... especially with the water separator modification (pictures in download folder)
      by all means, take the basic concept of HS101 BLT GAS and run with it, improve on it...all good with me:)

      we have to take the % numbers with a grain of salt ... I did my best to calibrate to 15% @ tailpipe (if MQ-2 had 7 minutes warm up time)...more warm up and less warm up can change this...point is it detects and we can get a feel for strong or weak presence...

    • @theGADGETSplaylist

  • @Grunter123
    @Grunter123 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow, that is brilliant Denis. Confirm you could still make this build & link by BNC to Loto instead of 101 & Bluetooth?

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      we'd need separate power to the MQ-2 module...too demanding to be powered through phone USB...and that's where my concern would be, not sure about MQ-2 sharing ground with lithium pack AND with LOTO/phone USB...
      maybe OK...but that would be my concern, Grunter...
      It was our talk about head gasket testing a few months ago that got this project from the back of my mind (where it was for 2 yrs) to fruition:)

      @@Grunter123 MQ-2 seems to do as good a job as MQ-7 with carbon monoxide while also excelling at detecting hydrocarbons which the MQ-7 isn't much good at
      MQ-9 is a whole different animal, cycling from 1.5v and 5v ... not friendly to the HS402/HScope method
