This can't be true. I must be dreaming? I love plantain chips but hardly buy them cause they tend to be fried. This is definitely a must make. So good to have a healthier version that is done in just a few minutes. Thank you so much for sharing with us. 😃👍
After watching ALOT of recipe video, it was a pleasure to watch one that gives clear instructions from someone who is actually good at making them. I had to stop & say Thank You. Can't wait to try this.
Thank you! Thank you! I had plantains Fritos DAILY during my trip to Costa Rica for an entire week. For the past 22 years, I’ve longed for some. This vid single-handedly showed me how to slice them thin. You rock! SN: your boo is one blessed cat!
Thank you for the recipe and directions! After reading all the comments I may try the juice from minced garlic jar, and add some dill pickle juice to marinade the chips overnight in before spraying them down with oil. I just couldn't get enough garlic flavor in them. I also used seasoned salt and creole seasoning. I replied to the Otto who was experiencing the chips floating around in his air fryer as mine did this also. That seems to be a great indication that only one minute is left before they are done! Thanks again!
We call plantain, gonja in Uganda and I absolutely love it. Cannot wait to try this out. We usually roast ours on a grill. But this chips version is brilliant
Going to try this tonight 😮 I went to the Galápagos Islands for a service trip and fell in love! But lots of companies fry this in vegetable oil and allot of different oils that I try to avoid! And allot of salt! I can’t wait to try this out 🍟
Omg thank you so much for sharing this recipe! Plantain chips are so expensive to buy in Canada than ones sold in Caribbean, so I’ll definitely be making these at home from now on.
Oh thank you!!! I was so frustrated with my inability to make a decent tostone that I literally gave up. This is exactly what I'm looking for!! I'm so excited! And I hear you on the loud chewing thing... I'm not a fan of it but I'm definitely up for a good crunch! 😁
Trying this! I love plantain chips! I don’t like the price I pay in a store so hopefully I will perfect the dehydrating process. I’m so happy to see that it doesn’t take but 7 mins in an air fryer.
Awww...Maggie....what happened to..."What's up guys!".....so looking forward to your greeting....thanks for the great ideas about the plantain chips. Look forward your next video. Keep up with the great videos and great work. 😄👍
@@rackoflam Thanks Maggie for sharing your recipes and insights. How did you know do much about the nutrients from plantain and other foods. Very stimulating and educational videos. Always a joy to watch and re-watch! Cheers!
This is the first air fryer I have ever owned. It works well th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB and, if you use the proper supplied silicone tray, keeps the food separate from the oil\grease of cooking. I cooked pizza, hamburger, lasagna, etc all with good results. (I also purchased some paper inserts to cover the silicone trays, just not to have to clean the trays.) Recommended. Just make sure to REMOVE the PAPER INSERT below the air fryer tray before using the air fryer! And yes, I have experienced a bit of an "electrical"-type smell after cooking items. It seems to have gotten less with time and did surprise my nose the first time I smelled it.
@@rackoflam funny thing, I have a cheap air fryer and when i used a potato peeler to make the chips. the air fryer fan blew the chips around and they all came out all over the pan and curled up it little rolls. I gotta get a good air fryer lol.
@@ironclaw911 My air fryer did that too about one minute before the timer indicated that they were done. I'm not changing my air fryer, and if the mechanical timer doesn't work I still have the chips blowing around as a one minute (egg timer type) backup!
Helloooo.!!! Great recipe.! I just made them right know, they became crispy and tasty, the only thing was that they came out a little bit pale, turning white. What could be wrong?
Has anyone else tried this? Your vid got me all excited. Followed your temp and time and results were poor. Ended up needing to leave in there for twice the time just to get them crisp. But some were too hard while others were still soft. Could it be my air fryer?
Love the recipe when I use finely grounded cayenne/coco sugar to season. Do you have any recommendations for storing these tantalizing snacks after making a bunch Maggie. Possibly vacuum sealing? Or is it all in after making them? Am too busy to make daily and recently subscribed to your channel
Those are plaintain chips, they are not tostones. Tostones are thicker and are done as follows: cut a thick round chip, fry halfway, then flatten it, then fry again to finish it. Truly enjoy the channel.

Haganlo con la cascara saben deliciosos
Merci beaucoup. Qu'est ce que vous pulverisez avant de mettre les tranches de bananes.
Can I do this with apples ?
How do you like your Gourmia air fryer? I'm shopping for air fryer and don't know yet which brand to get. Thank you!
I loved it until it died 5 years after I purchased it, which is pretty long in my opinion
An easier way to peel plantain is to soak them in boiling hot water for a few seconds to a minute then do as the video instructs.
Can we make this in oven ?
Crispy and yummy 😋
Do chips/veggie chips cooked in air fryer deformed when cut in a shape?
You should line your airfryer with parchment paper.
I’m goin to try making this for sure 🍌🍌🍌
