Yes and here are some to consider…First Ray Emery’s boating accident. Second, Dany Heatley’s car crash, and not sure what the team name but I believe it was a Russian hockey team plane crashing and killing most, if not all the whole team. Also, 1 more the Broncos bus crash in Saskatchewan (i believe it was that province).

I pass the school that pelle crashed at every day, I live near it. My uncle was also the surgeon who work on him that night. He had to tell Ed Snider that he wasn’t going to make it. Very sad

I was 16, living in Minnesota, a huge Quebec Nordiques Fan, and envious of the Flyers have Pelle as their Tender. We had Danny Bouchard but Pelle was such a great young talent. My friends and i were just gutted at the news of his accident and passing. Absolute Legend🙏🏻 Best I've been able to atrain is a PSA 9 of his rookie card.

@@JetsHubDo you think Pelle could’ve helped Phily win against Edmonton in 1987? Or was that Oilers team just to much to handle and the Flyers can thank Hextall for the carrying he did to bring them back from a 3-1 deficit

    • @jihoffman27
      @jihoffman27 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I don’t think Pelle would’ve helped them win in 87 because the Oilers were that good and so was Hextall in that series (he won the Conn Smythe that year). Now, if Tim Kerr doesn’t get injured, then maybe the Flyers score enough to beat Edmonton.
But the Flyers definitely would’ve won the cup in 85-86. They were a steamroller of a team. Even after Pelle’s death. But they collapsed in the playoffs - they just ran out of gas emotionally after such a trying year.

    Other ideas for your series.
Bill Masterson whom the trophy is named after is the only player killed on ice during a game. that might be one. Ace Bailey whom basically had a benefit game for him that eventually morphed into the all star game, was not killed but seriously intentionally injured by Eddie Shore of the Boston Bruins. Keith Magnuson of Chicago Blackhawks was killed with former Leafs player Rob Ramage at the wheel. Ramage charged with impaired driving. not sure if he was convicted. Now mind you this was after both players were retired, but the accident happened a scant two months after Dan Snyder's death. Humboldt Broncos bush crash in Saskatchewan happened in 2018 but there was another bus crash involving minor hockey league team Swift Current Broncos in 1986 in Regina. Current coach of the Sabres Lindy Ruff lost his brother in that accident (among four players that died). Joe Sakic survived that crash. Also the Maple Leafs Gardens sex scandal. Probably more but those poured off the top of my head. Oh and Tim Horton who tragically died in a high speed car crash

Yeah. If he called for a cab instead of offering to drive, maybe he starts the 1987 playoffs instead of Ron Hextall.

If this is the start of this series, great start but if it’s a 1 off, you forgot 3 that standout in my mind. First Ray Emery’s boating accident. Second, Dany Heatley’s car crash, and not sure what the team name but I believe it was a Russian hockey team plane crashing and killing most, if not all the whole team. Also, 1 more the Broncos bus crash in Saskatchewan (i believe it was that province).

Nah... I saw the Adam Johnson incident... I gotta call BS... That wasn't a hockey play... I'd call it, I dunno... Manslaughter... Reckless homicide... something along those lines...
BTW... Thought you'd mention Terry Sawchuk.. He died after a fight with a teammate ... Didn't he?

Without watching we all know the darkest story in hockey was the awful performance by the 2024 Rangers, definitely should not be seen by kid's, that not how hockey should be played, lmfao.

    Adam Johnson was murdered.
That was not a tragic accident....and how come you dont name the player who karate kicked him in his neck on purpose...?
Just like the mainstream media did when he was arrested...all the headlines and stories said the same thing "A man" has been arrested...
    A man?
Its a sport played in front of paying fans...and they wear uniforms...all of which have the players last name on it...they submit lineups beforehand...etc...etc.
His name is Matt Petgrave. And he did that 100% on purpose.
Now why would so many people go to such lengths to keep his identity hidden...completely omitting it from all of the mainstream media news stories....
    Why?
Because he is black. And its a disgrace how far we have fallen as Americans.

    • @davidlake5670

Perhaps the player was not named due to possible libel issues.

Settle down. You act like this guy is defending what happened. Sometimes there are legal reasons as to why he couldn't say it the way you wanted to talk about it. Grow up
