Loved how Badigadi, the man who laughs at all times, stopped laughing after Rudy asked if he knew a cure for ED. Like he continued laughing after telling Rudy he sucks at swordsmanship, but when he realized Rudy's sword ain't working he's respectful about that.
It seems you might not have realized but I'm pretty sure that when Rudeus ran into 'Fitz' at the market, it wasn't actually Fitz but rather princess Ariel wearing a magic disguise. And the fact that Sylphie isnt allowed to talk in public is so that Ariel's voice doesn't reveal her identity as it might not be covered by the disguise. I only read the first light novel tho so I can't be sure either tbh.
I decided not to mention that since I honestly have no clue whether that's right or not. But that would be very interesting if that was true. I wonder how did they do it?
@@chERISma Another thing was that Fitz acted as if nothing happened when she met Rudy in the library until he brought the topic up. I think if it was Fitz at the market, she'd apologise when she next saw him without being prompted.

Here's a bit (edit: a lot, not a bit) of info on magic cricles in general as well as the magic circles Nanahoshi has Rudy working on. There are 2 ways to cast a spell. Using an incantation or using a magic circle. Incantations are the standard in this time period, but circles do get used at times. The reason being that incantations have been shortened over time. Beginner to advanced tier spells especially have been shortened to the point they are useful for adventurers. As long as a mage has the leeway to chant of course. Magic cirlces have their own upsides. Most notable is the fact they don't require an incantation, only mana. This allows for a lot of different applications. 1. A magic circle for high tier magic can be used by multiple mages at once to share the burden for example. 2. Healing scrolls in particular are useful since their incantations tend to be long for the advanced tiers and the difference between needing an incantation or not can be a matter of life or death. 3. There are static magic such as teleportation circles and barrier magic which always require a circle after the intermediate tier. With the only barriers with incantations being closely guarded by the Millis church. Another thing to keep in mind is that magic circles can be powered by magic crystals unlike incantations. On to Nanahoshi’s research at last. As mentioned in the anime summoning magic is somewhat of a lost art, so Nanahoshi has to teach herself from the ground up. Which means testing hundreds of circles and trying to find out patterns between circles and their results. She had been doing this by using mana crystals she buys. But despite being filthy rich her supply of mana crystals is limited so she had to prioritize circles she believed would function. Which left her with a backlog of circles she has her doubts about. Most of the circles Rudy is testing for Nanahoshi are part of this backlog and most fizzle without summoning anything. Though occasionally they take more mana then the failures and end up summoning something like the black feather or an insect leg. Even the failures require a lot of mana though. Fitz stopped by to help occasionally but he said he'd run out of mana entirely after about 20 (failed) circles. He also said they take about as much mana as an advanced tier spell. When Nanahoshi called this research the groundwork of a theory of a theory she wasn't exaggerating. Since these circles are all meant to teach her the basics of summoning magic within this world. Whereas her ultimate goal is being able to summon something from her original world. Not just that, but also how to summon something and eventually herself to her old world. Which is unprecedented not only because it's transdimensional, but also because there is no precedent of summoning something to a location other than the circle itself.
For me this episode is not filler or didn't feel as much, because we actually learned something that may become important in the future, the question Rudeus had for the mana disaster had been already answer last episode by Nanahoshi, so the new task or quest is to inquire is how it works summoning, another type of magic that Rudeus doesn't master yet, he has already master fighting or combat magic the other two were healing and summoning, also the progress to revealing Fittz identity has come one step closer, that last part got me pumped up to their next interaction. Great video as always
I NEED to see an episode with Eris at Sword Sanctum, just as an extra or something please Also, the scene with Fitz ignoring Rudy could've been handled better like in the LN, he immediately headed for the library. The episode makes it feels like a bunch of time had passed between the events.

I'm not disappointed or anything, just something I noticed. Hope you have a blast with future volumes. To me it feels like the story just keeps getting better.

you should do a video about how when badi was watching rudy train swordsmanship he question the purpose not why a mage practice sword but in the eyes of badi he was just swinging a sword with no reason. that is because rudy cant use battle aura badi explains that battle aura is cover your body with mana to make you more resistant, faster and stronger. rudy say he doesn't get it badi say that there are some people like him. the reason is that rudy use magic so well because he understand the physics of how the world work he is later on seen trying to teach melding water and fire magic to linia he try to use the concept of how water evaporates from the ocean and then form clouds and rain goes back to the ocean through rivers but linia say that in the great forest in the rainy season water stagnates so she did not understand it. the same happens to him because battle aura It's more instinctive but doesn't have a clear logic to him he cant use it. also roxy in volume one say that most of the modern magic comes from magic created by elf, which make sense elf life so long that eventually they will probably understand how the physics of the elements work just by watching them through the years and eventually use magic whiteout chant. and the chants are for people to help them visualize the work of the spell. on that note nanahoshi hint that summoning magic is similar to a computer program that is why even if she doesn't no about programming since she has a vague idea of how computer programs work she is using it as a base to her investigation.
The beginning of this season was hard to get through because I do not enjoy seeing the MC be impotent and embarass himself on a daily basis and cry all the time, but the build up to the end of S2 part 1 was great. It made me immediately go download all of the LN volumes. I want to see him make Sylphie happy more than I want to see Rudeus happy. Lol.
So you're a sylphie fan... (I am giving you the stink eye) But Ngl seeing sylphie and her cute mannerisms was very nice to see for me even as an eris fan.
You mentioned that Rudeus didn't say an incantation for the magic circles for Nanahoshi, if I remember correctly the reason magic circles aren't used much anymore is because incantations were made much shorter (they used to be so long to the point where it was faster to draw the magic circle) however I don't believe incantations are used for magic circles, if they were it would defeat the purpose of making the circle to begin with.
Yes, that makes sense. Someone else in the comments told me the same thing. I completely forgot the way magic circles were used as it was actually explained in volume 1 of the light novels.
Yeah, I agree with the comments here. This episode FELT like a filler and mostly a build up for what's to come. But for someone who has read the light novels, I bet there is a lot of things here that will connect later on. I just don't know it yet XD
Possible spoilers below. It was covered in the novels by this point but maybe they will talk about it later. While he was talking to Badi, Badi mentioned Rudy couldn't use Battle Aura, and Laplace also had immense mana but couldn't use Battle Aura. Rudy not being able to use it is important later on, but so far the anime hasn't mentioned the concept at all, so maybe it won't exist here.
Kinda spoilers or not idk: The Fitz in the market was Ariel, not Fitz. She was just using a magic tool (I think it was a ring or something) to disguise herself as Fitz but it can only change the appearance of someone, not the voice. There's also a possibility of the magic tool not changing the eye color but idk the LN said that so I'm just going with it.
