Also Vani Kapoor played the role of a Transwoman in the movie ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’
Rubina 𝐃𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐤 took a bold step when no one in the country was even remotely expecting a woman to do such a role!! In fact, for a very long time in the serial, approximately about 15-20 episodes the viewers didn’t even know that the serial was about the concept of LGBT Community!! I distinctly remember the audiences kept guessing what was the secret that the mother was keeping from the society about her ‘Daughter’ and why the father hated his own child to the brink of literally trying to kill the child!! There were guesses that probably the child was illegitimate or maybe some superstition involved where the father thinks the child is a bad omen or something!! But none of the audiences have even imagined in their wildest dreams that the serial was about Transgenders and the child was a Transgender hence the father constantly tried to kill her!! People of the nation went bonkers when the secret was revealed!! The director and actors kept the plot line a secret until about 15-20 episodes building up the tension and then the final reveal was crazy!!
