Since I started using this method for my chips and pitches I am much more consistent. One thing I do differently is to pick a spot several inches in front of the ball and look at that during my swing and make sure I see the club head go over that spot. This ensures I follow through and I don't get ball bound. I also use this technique with my putter.

I started doing this a while back and I find that it really helps me keep the ball on the target line. It can be used for longer shots too. You can still take a pretty big swing without any wrist hinge and you'd be surprised how far a pitching wedge with a 3/4 no hinge swing will go.

MrKydaman thanks for watching and yes I agree you can definitely hit it farther than you think.

Starting using with driver, definitely lost distance but whatever man I play muni courses a 230 drive into fairway consistently is fine, then same sort of stroke for iron or hybrid and ur damn close to on without really worrying about speed...obviously on a big open hole I'll hinge my wrists and go after it, but narrow fairway this is a great swing

Good advice! Any tips for lower body movement during the backswing portion of the no hands pitch? It seems to me you don't rotate much that way, but you do let body release well going forward. Is it ok to let hips rotate some in the backswing?

Nice vid with easy to understand instruction. I love the contact I get and the feel is great with this technique but as a former wristy wedge player.... do you simply rotate the forearms fanning the clubface open to get more height...swing is flatter is what I'm trying to say to achieve higher softer shot and dealing with longer rough? Did that make sense? thanks and great vid.

I use the Runyon chipping stroke. 2 years ago, I started hitting pitch shots with the same stroke, which basically what this video shows. It works quite well.

Thanks Maggs - great demo and will take note. Patch - I used the Runyan chipping method with good success - shot my 3rd best score ever - after practicing for 1 hour. However, Runyan pitching worked nowhere as well so I will try Maggs' method. Did you try both methods?

Body pitch vs hands pitch vs hinge hold and body. I use all 3

Would I use this for 80-100 yard pitches? Currently pitches have no consistency.

Omg, a 3 minute video on how to do something. Brilliant! All the other videos are 25 mins!

What is the best distance to target can you use this pitch? By that I mean, is this a 30, 40 or 50 yard pitch? Yes, I realize it depends on how hard you hit the ball, but I want to use this as a feel shot rather than trying to hit the shot In control rather than a full swing. thanks

I can use this swing up to 70 yards if I take a lower lofted club like my PW. You can hit a lower lofted club than that, but it'll probably run out some. An instructor taught me this a couple of years ago and I had the best short game of my life. But then I decided I wanted something fancier. Just went back to this early this month. Had a fun day toady at the range just testing shots with everything from my PW to LW.

You still have slight hinge on the backswing, maybe not consciously but it's there

No, that's not hinge, that's forearm rotation. Looks similar but it's not and radius remains sane

      Same not sane

When I try this my right elbow stays on top of the left and clubface is shut

This is the only way I can hit pitch shots. I struggle more with 40-50 yards than with a 3 wood off the deck

      @Maggsgolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

If those are your only issues you are doing pretty well. Check out my shallowing video to help with your 3 wood off the deck

being tall and having a tendency to be on my toes this is impossible for me to hit good shots. With a lot of the right hinge I am dead accurate and my lateral movement is a non issue.

    For me, that's a chip.

people use different definitions for chip and pitch, so I fine with calling it a chip:)
