These Fortnite “Optimizations” Are Killing Your FPS

- I'm going to show you guys the truth about Fortnite FPS optimization guides and FPS boosters and prove with real evidence that these fortnite videos will not help your gaming pc or gaming laptop performance in fortnite battle royale. These Fortnite Optimizations such as disabling game mode, xbox game bar, or core isolation might actually increase frametime, decrease fps, and increase ping and input lag depending on your personal gaming pc.
Obviously I'm not a PC genius but I have a budget gaming laptop and I'll be able to give you guys actual information about the impact of optimizing your system compared to people who spend 2000-3000 dollars on a PC that performs like a $1500 pc. - เกม
Not optimizing will also kill your pc from all the shitty windows bloatware that comes preinstalled. But i agree with you about how LeStripez knows absolutely nothing
I also agree with ur comment here im going to try doing more research to figure out how to properly optimize ur pc
just use atlas os
@@Dryashs Atlas os is just stripped version of windows
@@lecctron right decision is to probably get tweaked by a PROFESSIONAL (an actual one). You can tell them to even keep some windows features. I've seen so many kids spamming tweaks and corrupting their OS
@@Yuvi4pf the worst one yet is the bios one it was an app that just lets u “tweak” the bios

Wise words sir
they fall for it easily because most of them are kids, they see the clickbaity thumbnails that say 999fps and instantly click on the video thinking they'll get 999fps lol
When I went out of full screen I was expecting to see at least 200k likes on this video but why only 6??? Dude you’re hella underrated

bro thank u so much, please make more on stuff that actually works man, thank u bro u got a sub
i'm glad you made a video about this, i had known this since like 1 year ago and i was quite mad nobody was talking about it
doing one of the things will have a very minimal effect but doing all will have a noticeable difference
Yea one thing these optimization TH-camrs take advantage of is first time pc/ laptop owners not knowing how specs work. The amount of “overclocking” I used to attempt to do was crazy
All anyone ever really needs to do is the basic optimizations for their hardware, ultimately your performance is only ever as good as your processor and gpu

3:10 what HW Accel does is that it utilizes your GPU to accelerate some tasks. Since Fortnite is mostly a CPU heavy game this won't affect your performance, UNLESS you are getting bottlenecked by your GPU
Was somehow hurting my fps a bit even tho im usually at 60-70% gpu usage
it does affect though because if ur having cpu bottleneck then the gpu takes some tasks off of it.
Either way hw acceleration does affect frame times/frame pacing and this can be more important than raw fps in a fame like fnite where lows and smoothness are more desirable
@@JosephRodgers-kt5nt exactly
Hey, great video, just wanted to say that when you make changes to registry, you must reboot the PC to actually finish the change.
Yea my mistake
What you said in the description is exactly what viewers need to understand watching people like these 2. You can only improve FPS, ping and input lag based on what you have available in your PC and your internet package. If your monitor can only reach 75 refresh rate, cranking all the visual settings to max will not make it run better. I've done this and i get lower fps because my monitor cant process all that information in a timely manner. Jerian releases a Boost FPS video evertyime there is a new Chapter of Fortnite. Not much changes from chapter to chapter, so his videos get a bit stale. Either way, you are limited to the hardware in your system and the technology available to you. I'm sorry this went on a bit. Couldn't get all my thoughts straightened out. Great explaination of what works and what doesn't. Very helpful!
Its funny bc the description is literally js me spewing out keywords for the youtube algorithm but glad u thought they had some truth to them lol
Yea honestly optimizations and tweaking don’t really have a huge impact. The only 1 setting that does boost fps that I’ve seen with my own eyes is XMP/DOCP. Other than that everything else doesn’t really boost fps. I even played Fortnite without installing gpu drivers and honestly it performed the same even after I downloaded the drivers. ( did this for fun, I always download drivers and keep pc up to date)
I guess people like to do as much tweaking and stuff to at least have a stable fps such as 144fps on low end builds.
I remember that a couple TH-camrs did optimization videos and included an fps boost pack downloadable link. Unfortunately it was a scam just to take control of peoples PCs and ransomeware attack etc.
Great video btw! 💯💯💯👍👍👍
Great video, I loved it. I agreed with you for the most part of the video but the ItsJerian video actually helped me improve my fps by a lot. I don't know which settings did because I just did most of them but they did. I think it might be different depending on the specs you have.

Power options don’t affect fps much but they do heavily impact latency, especially some advanced hidden power options like the time check interval
I actually got more fps in game when i used ultimate performance will post abt it
@@lecctron ultimate performance definitely is the best baseline power plan, lots of people have covered that though, go a step further and use powersettingsexplorer, then set the processor idle time check interval to 5000ms. Makes your video unique and not just for the sake of being unique, it’s actually a good tip
yoooo thx man u r mad underrated keep up the good work!
When I used to play fortnite in chapter 2, I was so gullible i did everything that LeStripez said like "download this, download that" but in reality, that tweak that he said made my games fps so inconsistent so when i deleted it I was so confused, "how is my fps so good now". That guy doesn't know what he's saying.
great video but at 2:39 changing that value isn't as simple as 16 or 18 there's multiple values you can test and depending on the game and your system specs it can increase fps i use 15 it gave me about a 50 fps increase in all games
We dont optimize it for fps we optimize it for less delay and better response time
well that doesnt do jack sh8 for input delay.
@@Hpr-hq7cg depends on ehat optimization u do
I think the motivation of this video is really nice, theres so much misinformation about pc optimization out there. However, without any actual benchmarks your video doesnt provide much more value than the other mentioned ones. I get that this takes a lot more time but i think it would have proven your point much better. Wish you the best
U are right im going to test the fps in replays next time with actual ingame factors without the uncontrollable variables
Cool video thanks a lot for testing them
3:06 from my experience it depends on your specs as well as on what you playing. If youre being cpu bottlenecked then turning off hardware accel will put additional load on your cpu and its not a great idea but if youre being gpu bottlenecked then you should turn it off because you cant afford additional gpu load. 5:57 i know he wasnt talking about that but while higher polling rate might seem like a great idea its not always the case. If you have a bad cpu then drop the polling rate down to 500 at least, helps a lot, but again, only on bad cpus.
there’s a few channels that have good tweaks like khorvie tech and some of those tweaks need a restart to work

TY. If you have better Optimization from you then make a video. Its helpful
any settings that will lower system resources or options that give your hardware more power will increase performance some of these options may not give your pc any impact but on a potato it will
Ill try these again while disabling my gpu
@@lecctron its honestly depending on the CPU if your not maxing it out when playing there's not gonna be a difference but if its 90-100% usage when playing you'll see a huge improvement
So I tested some settings, and while some may work as in increase your gpu utilization, it won’t increase it any further if it’s maxed already.
In my case, using the win32 separator and disabling Xbox game bar tripled my fps from 100-120 to 300 fps maximum, with an average of 260 fps.
This boost made it possible for me to enable rtx too, running at 60 fps stable up to 80 fps with virtual nano and everything on to medium with zero stutter, which used to happen alot before even with these disabled.
Really happy, because it means that I don’t have to buy an expensive 4070 card to run fortnite.
I didn’t see any improvement in the Witcher 3 thought, because the gpu utilization was already maxed.
Goes to show you how badly optimized Fortnite really is.

the best optimization tips are just:
- have a pc, not a laptop, often it can avoid it to overheat and make the cpu not limiting itself
- if you want performances you need money, if you don't, too bad bruh
- almost all optimization are to the devs, stop arguing, complain to epic.
My laptop can run all triple A games from high to ultra settings at 60+ fps for only 800 dollars so if u can snipe a good deal on a laptop its worth it
@@lecctron Honestly I have to agree even as someone who is in IT, sure you can grab some amazing deals on pc parts if your building your own and have great performance but that also requires you to have the money for other things required. a way to tell the difference between good and bad optimization is to just see if the dude in the video explains anything, if it's like lestripez, where he just says "change this option to this because yes it will give you better fps" then don't do what's in that video, listen to the videos where everything is explained, what the option does, what that option changes in the way your pc works, etc.

3:i have a plan with geek squad wat do i tell them so they can tweak my pc properly
Ok I get some of your points but then again, some of these may not effect fps but they definitely effect input delay and the feel of your game I have tweaked for a long time and I see what you mean in some cases they basically gatekeep a lot of the actual stuff that helps and tell you the stuff that doesn’t really do much.
Yeah im gonna try figuring out what actually helps fps and ill test input delay next time too
unless ur on a potato pc these wont effect input delay
The win32 priority separation help too, the best value is 2a (hex)
It actually helps rly much because it changes the service priorities and memory allocation things

I agree, but doing regedits you need to restart for effects to be set
Yes i actually did regedits properly for my next video and got better results 🙏
best thing to do is to defrag ur hard drive if u still use one every month and stay over updated drives. If u really want better performance use a debloater like (atlas os + hone) and upgrade to ssd, better ram, cpu, gpu in that order
Great info i forget that some ppl still have hard drives 😭
u can als trim ssds (no trimming will not destory ur ssd only defraging will, and u cant defrag ssds in windows only trim using the optimize drives thingy)
I'd say cpu>ram for fortnite

it does not affect system latency.

One thing you haven’t taken into consideration is the input delay that comes with a poorly optimized PC. Yeah maybe FPS doesn’t change but it might be delayed.
And what you said that nvidia control panel settings don’t change anything is just plain bullshit… those settings are where you get to choose whether you want to prioritize Graphics Quality or Performance.
1. regedits need a restart to actually change 2.all these wont give you +500 fps, they will improve stability, latency and might slightly improve fps and 1% lows 3.testing fps while looking at the sky is pointless
only thing that actually improves fps is overclocking, not having high temps and debloating windows (might not even make a big difference)
1. 8000 ppl already told me that
2. Its small but u can see that latency barely changes from 5-6ms
3. Thats the most consistent way to test ingame performance without uncontrollable variable factors
not only ingame latency but system latency, and also testing fps in replays is the best one im pretty sure, because you get the exact same ingame scenario with different settings whatnot, and also just so yk regedits and that stuff will almost never improve fps by a lot@@lecctron
@@snowyong testing fps in replays is genius ill try that next time thanks
the only fps boosts are ultimate power plan (you don't even need it just set your cpu freq to 100% and stuff) and performance mode on stretch res. I get around 90ish fps on my laptop which is 6 years old rn, as old as the game basically. I7-7500u, 8gb ram, 920mx, Crucial SSD (I forgot read write speeds)
Trying ultimate power plan next week ill update u guys how it goes
Kinda similar I have 17-7500u, 16gb ram, 1tgb and a Nvidia 960mx I get 90-120 fps
Ultimate performance plan is really not needed unless your cpu won't turbo to your set core clock speed in bios otherwise all your doing is forcing your cpu to run at max frequency and voltage 24/7
Some of these optimizations especially the ones in marrentm's video really help if you're on low end laptop or PC running on integrated graphics but rtx 3060 should run the game perfectly fine optimizations won't really affect
I actually got boosts on this laptop recently will post abt it
search jerryxoc and u wil have huge effect on impact on fps
On my old Pc, disabling game bar gave me like 80 to 120 more fps. on my current pc, it makes no diff
btw win32priority on stock windows is actually on 2 and its deal and there is a lot different values which work or not
also for the record nvidia control panel doesnt work after applying it without restarting the game first. if you change the settings while the game is already loaded then you have to restart the game for the settings to take affect. also if you didnt have prefer maximum performance then your gpu would be running not at its highest clock which in turn could negatively affect your fps. thats why its recommended to select the "prefer maximum performance" option in the nvidia control panel.
Ahhh ok i understand ill try that next video
usually you're cpu bottlenecked in fn and making the gpu run at higher clocks is unnecessary
if you're on a laptop like the author, it can even hurt performance bc the cooling solution on a laptop is shared between the gpu and cpu, and the gpu unnecessarily overheating can cause the cpu to overheat as well
idk what happened but ever since this new season dropped, im only getting 60 fps, I didn't change any of my settings or anything either
Some registry editor changes require restart
All regestry changes needs reboot, thats why fps was same in all steps with regestry

Thing that fixed it for me was always updating windows before booting up the game
hey can u test custom os like atlas os revi os and tiny 11 and see what difference they have on the game i been thinking about using them but i dont know if they will mess up my pc and stuff
Well, I've been using Atlas OS and honestly it performs pretty much the same as a properly tweaked Windows. I only really installed it because I had to reinstall anyway and didn't want to go through the work of remembering what optimizations I did. Besides, Atlas OS does actually have security now by letting you keep Windows Defender, so the security isn't nearly as bad as people claim.
The best way to learn how to 'optimize' imo is to learn from docs, github and discord and do a bit of trial error. I.e. read the ram oc github not ask 'hOw dO i OC MY raM?'
It is better to optimize the operating system in a safe, efficient way that does not remove anything from what you use, not to sacrifice everything but the gadgets that you are never going to use.
Also optimize your game to what you prefer, more fps less quality, medium fps medium quality, high quality low or normal fps, etc.
but moving minimal or compromising things from the operating system that together make almost no change or none will make your PC difficult and strange to use by changing so many internal things, which are mostly just influencers' preferences, and it also assumes that we have the same PCs (with an Nvidia, with a Logitech mouse, with enough power to support power unlocks) is supposed to be an optimization because our PCs lag and because our fps is low, not because we want to add a few fps at 300 or more fps than we already have...
