      The scene and show is dope but imo that quote was a bit cringe, it was clear that it was meant to get a "wooo" from the plebs that only remembered 2 names from GoT

    This version includes the part with the gold Targaryen Sigil. The way Ramin Djawadi uses cellos on these tracks is genius! I did the best I could to try and re-create them. I couldn't re-create that insane cello sound that sounds like a dragon's breath though. Hope you like it!

    Crazy how far we’ve come after the finale. The melancholy was representing Viserys’ apprehensive attitude towards to the throne but also how badly things would descend after he’s gone

  • @krystianzagorski8505
    @krystianzagorski8505 2 ปีที่แล้ว +50

    Jaehaerys is my favourite Targaryen king. He was both strong and wise. Able both in war and peace. But Great Council was a big mistake, as it created impressions that great houses have right to decide who sits on the Iron Throne, and Dance of Dragons is partially result of this.

    • @hypothalapotamus5293
      @hypothalapotamus5293 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was it a mistake or was the system of government, where authority was derived from burning people to death with dragons, fundamentally flawed? I'd argue the latter.

    • @duarte2
      @duarte2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hypothalapotamus5293 if ultimate authority is based on the ability to burn people to death with dragons, then you can't have a disconnect between that practical reality and the justification for power. The real kicker here were two instances of broken precedent. First, Jahaerys breaks the unspoken principle of Targaryan despotism being entirely unanswerable to anyone. This in itself is not too problematic since it helps solve the issue of intra-Targ disputes. Viserys breaking the established rules of succession in light of that, without taking serious steps to legitimize and strengthen his daughter's claim and delegitimize his firstborn's, is the second instance of broken precedent, and the one that truly spelled doom for all involved.

    • @hypothalapotamus5293
      @hypothalapotamus5293 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@duarte2 Why can't there be a disconnect? Why can't there be polite fictions to make rule more palatable? These polite fictionss are like putting a pretty facade on the front of a building, while the foundations and structural components are hidden.
      Let's look at the transitions of power during the dragon era of the Targaryens:
      There was supposed to be a line of succession, but Maegor had a bigger dragon.
      Jahaerys's regent, a stormlord, thought that he was better suited to rule. When Jahaerys came of age, he showed the upstart Vermithor and he fell in line.
      Really, the only time when the facade of consensus driven governance rather than dragon power won through was when Viserys's faction had rough parity with the Velaryons in dragons (the usefulness in the facade was that relationships were preserved well enough so that, by the time the Velaryons had a stronger dragon force, arranged marriages had reunited the families).
      Aegon and Rhaenyra resorting to dragons is not an aberration caused by decissions made by Jahaerys, but is pretty much the way Targaryens had done things since they had conquered Westeros.
