As someone born and raised in Midtown Manhattan, I still do not understand why anyone feels entitled to drive a car into midtown. The only vehicles that should be permitted are tour buses, public transit, taxis, ride-shares, and delivery trucks Additionally, bicycles should adhere to basic traffic rules which should be strictly enforced. There are too many pedestrians and they should be should be able to walk freely. Most streets should not even traffic, so pedestrians do not have to stop at lights, and most people can reach their destination more quickly.
We don't want to take our families infornt of those drug dealers you have on the streets. Go to the city in a car, eat then go home. No reason to go on public transport that does not even work.

Go to any modern city 2x our size, 10x our size and you will see lots of people taking fast, clean, safe and less polluting transit to get to work, no gridlock, less cars entirely or different types of vehicles like bicycles, scooters or buses.

I have some question regarding this new congestion pricing. 1. Is the charge only once for the day? If I make multiple trips in and out the CBD willI be charge each time or is it only once? 2. I drive Uber/Lyft and Lyft send me an email stating that my TLC vehicle is exempt and therefore I won’t be charge the congestion fee. I haven’t seen this stated anywhere that TLC plates are exempt. 3. I read somewhere that the rider will pay around $2.50 for taking a Uber/Lyft into the CBD. I’m confused. If this new congestion fee works the same way as regular tolls, then with my EZ-Pass will I be charged the $9 fee while the rider only gets charged $2.50? I still don’t understand how this all works.

First the city narrows streets and installs obstacles, now they are charging money because of so called congestion. Anyone who is in Manhattan during the week knows that traffic and congestion is caused by trucks buses and taxis. Not personal cars. The only place where traffic is created by cars is on the west side hwy north of 57th and the fdr drive
