I bought this welder 2 years ago. I figured it would do the little jobs around the ranch; especially for someone who has never welded. To be completely honest, I'm ashamed to say that I've been scared to weld. Seriously. Until now. Thank you for such a simple, yet thorough instructional. No terrible music. No kids asking why, no dogs barking, bonus hottie. AND YOU SHOWED WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE BEHIND THE MASK!!!!!! Thank you. Now I can't wait to start.
This video was a perfect find! In the process of research before I actually buy a welder similar to yours and this video seals the deal for me! It's hard not to be apprehensive when it comes to welding but watching a first timer really set me at ease. Glad I found your channel!
I really appreciate this. Everyone has a first day, and a different speed for learning. Teaching people new skills under calm direction and guidance is one of the best things that you can do for a person. How someone is treated in a teaching context has a huge impact on whether they will do it again.
You, Sir, are an excellent teacher. You have a common sense approach of knowing whet a newbie needs to know and hear. You describe precisely the actions needed. This from a teacher of many years. Keep up the good work!
So I am just learning to weld using this exact welder but all the video are these pro welders who have been doing it for 20 years. I am so much better. I am very thankful for this video.
You are a good human being and the way you communicate with people is really good. Your teaching abilities are outstanding and your honesty about how welding helped you and your family socioeconomically advance is outstanding. Wait a minute, you already know all of what I am saying don't you ? Good job bro.
Seriously though, it changed my life. I welded up a bumper for my truck, and somehow a recruiter ended up with my phone number because of it. Changed my life completely! All for a silly "offroad" bumper. Thanks for the kind words. If I can help people and inspire them to find things they love to do then this has all been worth it!
I didn't really have high expectations on watching a welding channel, but I have to say, I learned a LOT and I had a really good time! :) You are an excellent teacher, you showed me in a few minutes what I might expect, I have never watched any welding video that made me feel I could do it. You weren't 'man-'splaining' either, she learned quick because you were such a good teacher. I wish that I had someone that showed me a long time ago. Jessie is a REALLY good student too, I really enjoyed her enthusiasm, and y'all worked well together too. I was actually 'rooting' for her! :) I was really into it, I saw her first weld then I was 'a little' afraid that she might not do as well, but she sure showed me. :) VERY informative, and VERY entertaining, I really loved this, I wish y'all were a weekly show! I'll subscribe to you AND go and see her channel too! Thank you, and also, I also love the channel name, "Strange Garage" has a really good sound to it.
Jesie is great, absolute sweetheart to be around! I would absolutly do a weekly show if it were possible. Maybe someday. I'm glad to have the opportunity to exceed your expectations. Welding has changed my life, and I hope I can help others realize how it can change theirs. You can do this. Just be patient and practice. I was not talented the first time I welded, but after years of practice, I'm a REALLY average welder, lol. Cheers!
Great training day video. I've owned my CE wire feed for many years and have used it to do horrible, unspeakable welds to my old vehicles. But after watching this video it re-inspired me to break out the old welder, and to sit around and just practice random welds. And thanks to your advice and techniques, I may actually be able to get the hang of this wedding thing.
You are a natural teacher, much like Mike Festiva, who also has a YT channel for welding and other DIY projects. I've only been welding for about 7 months with my HF Titanium 125 FC welder, but I've watched several of your videos and you've helped me with the basics. Thank you for the great content and the excellent instruction. Liked and subbed, please keep up the great work! 👍
Awesome job Jesse! Great video bro. I wanna thank you again for helping decided to get the Chicago electric. I've been welding a ton since last year, hasn't failed me yet!
You are killing it on your channel bro. I told you that you would be successful! Keep doing what you're doing! You're welcome man. These welders help so many people get started with welding, glad I could do my part.
Appreciated - Of all the channels I've visited, none are what they claim - starting places for newbies. I'm seventy and have never touched a welder (my wood shop pales some commercial places, on the other hand). I went to various sites trying to figure out how to run a flux welder (why invest in gas when you're just learning, and who knew mine would take gas?). Not one told me how to strike an arc with my wire feed. I, finally, figured out the arc would start automatically, if I just touched the metal and pulled the trigger. So, thanks for getting to the start. SIDE NOTE: Interestingly, while helping a friend, I watched a pro, who bad mouthed wire feed systems as garbage. Meanwhile, sites talk about the flux core wire feeds used to build sky scrapers.
Very cool! You've inspired me to blow the dust of my Harbor Freight 90A and try again. (I'm one of those amateur hacks that tried to weld a few things then gave up). I didn't blame it on the welder necessarily, but I didn't keep practicing on that welder either.
Permaculture Newbies I picked up a 70a Campbell Hausfeld, and the only reason I’m not still trying, I ran out of wire...lol... The only person That never succeeds, is the one who gives up
Hey Taylor, hope all is going well man. You're an awesome trainer and your welding skills are incredible. I recently had a commercial gate repair welding project and had to weld up some steel supports for a car I'm working on. I'm so glad I watched this video and went back to several your videos to refresh my memory on how to properly weld with the Harbor Freight 90 AMP Machine. Thanks Taylor!
Thank you for this video... my husband is going to teach me how to weld very soon and watching this has helped me understand the concept a whole lot better. Frosting the cake said it for me. Thanks!
You're very welcome! The first time I ever used a piping bag someone said "why are you so good at that?" I told them it was just like welding. You'll do fine, good luck!
Thank You for doing a vid with a lady. I think many women want to jump into the game and vids like this are great at demonstrating how easy it is to start..
Couldn't agree with you more. I knew my channel was mostly guys, and "guy talk" can sometimes be off putting to ladies. Especially when they are trying to learn something new. Thanks for watching!
I just got the titanium 125 flux core welder from Harbor Freight, if I ever get over this cold I can actually start playing with it and doing some welding.
That is really helpful, I'm gonna try it as soon as I get a chance. Is my 1st time ever welding and I'm trying to make a smoker or of a water heater and when I try to weld all I get is a bunch of little balls. I think I might have to adjust my work feed speed
New to this flux core. Never heard of letting the Flux Core Nozzle rest on the metal while dragging it. Thanks. Were you using the cursive E pattern which the newbie video's suggest.
I really liked the video. I've had this same welder for several years but have yet to use it because I was concerned. Ready to try it now. I wish you could put a filter over the camera so we could actually see what you are seeing when welding (I didn't read the other comments to see if someone already suggested that). Other than that, thank you.
great video. i learned a lot from it (seeing as i've never mig welded). 2 questions tho', is there a reason why you didn't recommend that she use both hands to help steady the line as she moves across the parts? also, i know you mentioned in the video to keep this welder's speed set around 4 or 5 out of 10, but are there any other settings that we need to know about or is this particular welder so basic that it only has an adjustable wire feed and nothing else?
Good mornin' buddy, i'm building a minibike chopper frame from scratch this is going to be my first welding project, I'm gonna give this harbor freight welder a shot, thin wall 3/4 structural tubing on the backbone and 1/2 tubing for the rest, do you think the wire that comes with the machine would be sufficient for both types of stock?
Well, I just realized that I'm attracted to women doing welding. Plus she welds better than most people teaching welding on TH-cam. Thanks for the tips. The helmet thing was great. I'm just learning, and that would of screwed me up for a while. It's the simple things sometimes.
It's funny, all my grinders at work have the paddle, and I hate those. Mostly because you can ONLY hold the grinder at the paddle. I like to hold mine lower. Better grip, less fatigue, but that's different strokes. Obviously the switch ones are more dangerous though.
Well she did way better than I do. I have a Lincoln weld pak HD and I still suck so it's def the person not the welder although idk if mine is considered much better than an 87 dollar one. You guys are using thicker metal than I have but I constantly have the wire "stick" to the work instead weld or I just get little beads sprayed everywhere. Being electric is it a big no no to touch the metal you are welding? As in could you get shocked? Occasionally I get puddles and the weld starts to look good but then it'll stick again or I won't be able to carry the puddle. It's a constant start stop for me which results in crap welds. Mine has 2 green switches 1 and 2 high and low and I never understand what they are for. Generally real thin metal I put one or both on low and thicker I put them on high. And for wire feed I turn it up and down to see what fits. I am utterly ashamed of my welding skill. I have burned right through thinner metal like a 55 gallon drum I tried welding to and then turn it down and can't get a decent weld. It is so weak and falls off. Sometimes my wire won't even come out when I pull the trigger so I crank the wire feed up then it starts to move and I turn it back down. Perhaps an issue with the machine? All I can say is I am impressed at what she did and I must be able to do what she has done too?? Perhaps I need thicker metal to practice on first. Ugh. Thanks for the video sir. Maybe I should try practicing again rather than walking by it in self disgust. Lol.
I can't speak for that specific welder, but inexpensive machines in general have irregular feed and heat pretty often. How good is your ground, and is your metal clean? Sometimes a welding machine just sucks...
To add my 2cents as well, I have a cheap one with the same 2 switches. It fights me a lot as well. I do pretty well with much more expensive welders, but my personal little one has definitely sucked even after upgrading the grounding clamp. Oh and even on low I burnt through my truck bed.
Great Job Jesie! Do you not think that giving her proper knowledge of the type of welding she is learning would be of importance? You know Metal Inert Gas, FCAW, TIG, and ARC would be a start versus Wire welding and TIG Stainless? You can't assume she won't pick up a welder on her own and not know her arse from a hole in the ground... You are a very patient teacher it seems just need a dictator like myself to okay your course syllabus! Stay away from Stainless Steel Tips...........
You are not only really fricken smart, but you are also an excellent teacher. Thanks for all the great videos.

Watched tons of welding vids. This is by far the best instructional video for wire fed I've seen. Great job!!!!
That's a great compliment! Thank you! I really hope this video helped you out!
I didn't really have high expectations on watching a welding channel, but I have to say, I learned a LOT and I had a really good time! :)

Thanks for posting this, my daughter has shown an interest in welding and were going to tackle it together.
Shes got to be the most bubbly, positive person EVER!
Jesie is great, a dear friend!

Most excellent student. Listened well and always stepped up to a challenge. Well instructed without overloading her. Subbed.

She did good there are some people that you can't teach how to weld simply because they don't listen to what you tell them good job from both of you
You are an excellent teacher. Wish you were around when I took my welding class.
good job by both, she is a natural though and you do a great job teaching
Awesome young lady ! !
Keep learning !
Wow she did an excellent job! That was definitely impressive.
Very cool! You've inspired me to blow the dust of my Harbor Freight 90A and try again. (I'm one of those amateur hacks that tried to weld a few things then gave up). I didn't blame it on the welder necessarily, but I didn't keep practicing on that welder either.
You got this! Learn to carry a puddle and you could use any welder. That 90 amp was my teacher! Good luck!
Permaculture Newbies I picked up a 70a Campbell Hausfeld, and the only reason I’m not still trying, I ran out of wire...lol... The only person That never succeeds, is the one who gives up
You are an outstanding teacher!
Way to go Jesie, you give me hope . thanks for the lesson
Hey Taylor, hope all is going well man. You're an awesome trainer and your welding skills are incredible. WOW, did a great video so now I'm going to buy a Flux Mig and become a qualified welder. Thanks so much, Mike.
Kind of sounds sarcastic, I do hope you're being serious and it works out.
good stuff and great mindset, each one teach one. Thank you.
hey thanks a lot man for the honest simple explanation to basics of welding.
Thank You for doing a vid with a lady. I think many women want to jump into the game and vids like this are great at demonstrating how easy it is to start..

Well that looks better than most of my welds........
Gotta love it when you show someone how to weld and they throw down better beads than you 😂 Great video man👌
Gosh great video ! Im going to the garage now to try mine :) I need a neighbor like you Strange garage dude, lol :D Thank you soo much for the video!!
Good speed, good control... well done!
I just got the titanium 125 flux core welder from Harbor Freight, if I ever get over this cold I can actually start playing with it and doing some welding.

Wire speed*
My wife would definitely not allow me to have a friend like Jesse!
I think you're not alone there.
Mine either.....
She’s beautiful and has a wonderful personality.. a total catch
SHE WILL BECOME THE BEST AND THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WELDER IN THE WORLD...........
Put clamp closer its pulling current through the moving parts of the vice! Funny video love it!
New to this flux core. Never heard of letting the Flux Core Nozzle rest on the metal while dragging it. Thanks. Were you using the cursive E pattern which the newbie video's suggest.
I just weave it up and down, slowly advancing. No fancy tricks. It's similar to "walking the cup" when you TIG weld.
Great channel!!! Keep it up!!
I really liked the video. I've had this same welder for several years but have yet to use it because I was concerned. Ready to try it now. I wish you could put a filter over the camera so we could actually see what you are seeing when welding (I didn't read the other comments to see if someone already suggested that). Commented before watching the entire video. Glad you used the filter.

100% perfect for me, same welder and experience.
Just a question can this flux welder weld aluminum?
It cannot. It's pretty limited what it can do, but it's great for learning!
What about the ground what do you clip it to
I got mine for Christmas but I welded in high school
I've watched a couple of your how to videos. Can you give me an idea of how close your facemask is to the weld arc?
Dawg! Good vid. Hope you welded your way out the friend zone.
Yeah it's really about the same honestly. Just get lots of practice and it should end up fine. Good luck!
Strange Garage
Thanks Brother, i'll keep you updated on my progress however good or bad it might be🤣👍🏻
Wives are more tolerant than you think when it comes to hanging out with a beautiful friend. They secretly know that you don't have a chance with her.
Where did you get that helmet that’s she is using??
Ace Hardware. I think it was $25 or $30.
Hey Stange Garage. How to control travel speed? When do i start moving my electrode? are there any key principles you could proivde?
I personally don’t have the patience to be a good teacher, in fact I tested negative...for patience. Having said that, great job ...
what was the welder set to I've you did it other videos
Set to high, speed between 4 and 5. Works pretty well with .035 wire.
Well, I just realized that I'm attracted to women doing welding. Plus she welds better than most people teaching welding on TH-cam.
Thanks for the tips. The helmet thing was great. I'm just learning, and that would of screwed me up for a while. It's the simple things sometimes.
I didn't see the like to Jessie's channel anywhere. What happened?? Did you forget or maybe sje doesn't have a channel anymore??
I hate those grinders without the paddle switch: death traps.
It's funny, all my grinders at work have the paddle, and I hate those. Mostly because you can ONLY hold the grinder at the paddle. I like to hold mine lower. Better grip, less fatigue, but that's different strokes. Obviously the switch ones are more dangerous though.

Jessy Jobson 👏
I left my glasses on the bench because I see better close up without them. they messed up pretty bad.
So awesome, I can wait to get a house so I can learn to weld. I would like to build a PC case from the ground up.
I wanna see her stick weld.
All I saw was a hot chick in a welding helmet. Did something else happen?
What more could you ask for?
LOL!
LOL means laughing out loud!
They are not $87 anymore.
Today they are $99.
Lot of spatter.
Looks better than my welds, but then again I've always had trouble with a/c.
One word: Kemppi
pp
Show her how to handle your rod and watch out for splatter!!
