A prejudice that comes as both an insult and a compliment, and only someone with your experience can really help to elucidate everything. Your English isn't bad, you're totally understandable! I don't think that most Americans think of China as backward. Shanghai in particular is well-known for being a huge, high-tech city. There are a lot of temporary and permanent Chinese immigrants here in the US, so knowledge of China isn't that bad. For example, when I went to university ~10 years ago, quite a few of my classmates were foreign students from China.
yes, In fact, Chinese people like to study in foreign universities, but now the barriers to Chinese people in universities are becoming more and more serious. Chinese people want to study abroad, but foreign schools do not seem to welcome them :( But you should be someone who knows the real situation👍👍👍👍

@siguma4444 That is true, I had a friend who lived in Japan for one year, and because stopped practicing her English at all, when she came back her English was broken up.. despite living in America most of her life. Practice makes perfect, repetition is the best teacher. The good thing about the Internet is you can always find someone to practice a Foreign language with. 🤭
Yeah, I´m from Brazil and it´s kinda annoying seeing news from the Media that don´t match our reality... I see that the media makes more mistaken content about China than Brazil, but we also suffer a little with those biased news.
