Depending on your writing, you should adapt the form of the Greek letters such that there is no confusion. My x is not curved at all, so it never looks like kappa :)

What about digamma? I guess the digamma function doesn't come up a lot, but I think it still counts as a Greek letter.
It is not a letter of the modern Greek alphabet. However, you are right that sometimes it is still used in mathematics.
