Nice to see an old school combine for a change. It's a shame they don't make combines for the smaller farmer anymore. Overall you did a very good job of filming, but you might want to change how you end your videos. Just turning the camera off is not a very good way. Maybe give a closing "statement" and say goodbye for now or something. What part of Iowa are you in? I grew up in South Central Iowa on a farm in the 60's & 70's, and then moved to Cedar Rapids and lived there for 28 years, and now I have lived in Arkansas the last 14 years.
The prices of these new combines are insane, and smaller farmers just can't afford them. The least expensive ones are $400,000. Back in the early 80's you could buy a brand new JD 4420 for $53,000 including the heads. It's a shame they don't make affordable farm equipment for the smaller farmer anymore.
If you guys had a newer combine that could run a bigger flex draper, would you run it on the ground? I know you guys like mowing the stubble just curious.

Oats are very light, and that's why they don't flow. Corn and beans are heavy and that's why they do flow. Also oats are not hard shelled like corn and beans, and that affects flowability also.
@@iowadairyboysFarms We are thinking of starting to raise oats in our rotation. We are a continuous corn rotation for the reason of a constant feed source for cattle, but was interested in starting just oats not seeded with alfalfa every third year for rotation do you feel the oats help in disease and insect cycles in your corn crops?
I put a ton of hours on 9500 and 9600 John Deere combines. Awesome machines!!
Looks like a good harvest. Nice to see the 9500 cruising thru the oats!
Nice video did you ever grow wheat for hay and straw I’ve seen them get more straw from wheat when I went up to North Dakota
Yeah but no one around here would buy wheat seed they want oats
I combined my Oates over weekend. Yield wasn't best but wheat wasn't either this year. Mine tested 11.6 with a 33.8 tw

Can’t tell ya how long I’ve been waiting for this video. Always one of my favorites. Keep up the great work!
Had it filmed for a while just had to find the time to edit it.
Great video once again Eli!!! Seems like you move along pretty good with that smaller head on there. Should get some pretty good straw out of it too.
Nice. A family friend just got a S790 to replace his 9760STS and a very aged 9650.

Very good task 😃, i like those things.
Do you feed the oats?
Ya
Nice views looks like a good day #WorldsOkayestFarmer

If we had a flex header for this combine we'd probably use it
Why wouldn't you just cut your oats lower if your going to bale the straw anyway ( why?) Then have to cut it shorter with the disc bine?
Not a flex head so cant get it low enough anyway
How many acres of oats do you guys do? Have you guys ever swathed them and used a pick up header?
50ish acres
Nice video. Greats from Poland ;)
Now you'll be itching for days. Lol
Do you sell some oats or do you feed them all
Sell a little not much
Question what kind plants are those in the field?
sr loko ragweed
How many cows do you all milk?
50
😎
Nice video thanks for sharing
Nice video
Ragweed means good land. Eaglegards...
those are horse weeds
Dave, we call those horse weeds but the proper name for them is giant ragweed.
Why don't you put a vibrator on the outside of the wagon. Hit the vibrator and the grain moves.
Dont have one or heard of it
@@iowadairyboysFarms My hopper for the corn boiler has one; works good.

No way that’s dry if you have to shovel them out. Dry oats flow like water.

What was the test weight on them?
30.5-32.8. Not good at all this year. I think that hot week did no good for then.

@@kentbeyer6470 Yeah probably. But your going to get WAY less feed out of oats and its not really a full season crop.
@@iowadairyboysFarms True thought about following up after oats with like a 90 day forage sourghum for chopping. Thanks again for the info!
Can you do a face reveal
I am surprised that combine can handle that huge head. How wide is it 8 foot or 10 foot?

Don Crap I have a 9510 and it handles a 20ft head fine
@@isaacschute6761 The sarcasm blew right over your head 😂😂
@@isaacschute6761 It will handle a 20ft head but the baler won't handle that big of a windrow. Hence, the smaller grain platform.
turn the music off
Guess what drones dont have mics. And if it did all it would be is wind. So unless you want a video with no sound
