Not only should they bring it back but make a full game revolving completely on the chao garden. I would also be happy to get a mobile chao garden.
I would as well, but only as a last ditch effort. I fear the micro-transactions in full titles as is - a Chao Garden app could be a let down.

Chao are literally the only reason I enjoyed Sonic Adventure 1 or 2. Because of them, i felt a reason to get things from enemies around the world. Including rings.
I would only play some levels because they contained cool animals like bats and whatnot. Now I just don't play sonic games because they don't have gardens haha

Me and my brother had 2 copies and 2 game cubes and went to our feiends place on the weekends and he had a copy and a gamecube and we would just stay up all night and play SA2. Was 20 years ago now

I honestly think they should bring back Chao Garden. it's a great game & would love Sega to upgrade the game, adding new breeds of Chao and more ways of playing with them
They could do so much, it's really just a matter of time before its return.
Chao's could easily be one of the most popular media franchises on the planet if they did it right. It could never beat Pokémon but that doesn't mean it couldn't be absurdly successful. It's truly astounding they've never expanded on it. The money they could make is off the charts.
When I was younger I always thought one day we would see Chao on mobile or Chao as playable character in Super Smash Bros. or Mario Kart.
Yeah, I really think they misplayed it. They're super cute and even have an "evolving" function that could open up so many doors. The unlimited color pool makes them entirely customizable, you could potentially even dress them. So much $ to be made here!

But I do think they know quite well howbeloved the Chao Garden is, specially since the Official Sonic social media pages interacts with the public with jokes and memes for the past 4-5 years.
Plus that animation they made is pure love for the little creatures. Definetly something is gonna happen soon!

Sega is stupid for not bringing Chao Gardens as a separate installment to iOS & Android.
This thing would be perfect for microtransactions & milking the cash cow - plus you could use your chao to battle the ones of your friends online...

I mentioned this in a comment on another video. The open world concept would be perfect for at least one Chao Garden. Heck, keep exploring and maybe one or two more could be discoverable on the map. That would be so cool if SEGA finally listened to fans and gave us our favorite virtual pets back!
@@vixenrevitup and since its open world, you wont be forced to back track for the animals or anything if you dont want to, you can probably just find animals about in the world
i would love a standalone Chao Garden mobile game. you could play minigames with your Chao to level up stats, compete in online races/karate to get rings, visit other peoples gardens, maybe even see your Chao through AR! theres SO many possibilities.

The chao garden was my absolute childhood I remember playing it for hours on GameCube, ps3, Xbox and now pc I recently download chao garden extended. I’ve been wanting them to bring it back for so long. Hopefully they bring it back soon, after all I’ve been replaying this game since I was 7 and watching my brother play it before that. I’m 17 now
Yeah the re-releases really helped remind me that even a game as old as this can nail a certain feature! It could be amazing even if it was only a graphical overhaul!
I have never played a Sonic Game since Chao Garden was removed and will not until it returns.

I feel like they had a perfect opportunity where they could have used the chao garden to flesh out sonic frontiers. It's not out yet but there's been no information and nothing on demos indicating chao gardens. You could have explored the open world and collected chaos drives or animals which would encourage people to explore more and give more objectives or goals to the open world, which many people are currently worried is empty and without many real goals or purposes for exploring.
I agree! I think it would have been perfect. Total missed opportunity if it goes the way we're thinking with no Chao garden.
I'll be honest, if we get a mobile chao garden I think I might hate that more than never knowing if we're getting a new chao garden. If it lands on mobile the experience will be watered down with microtransactions aplenty, and that happening would pretty much cement it in my mind that we'd never get another garden in a mainline game. I'd be more than a little heartbroken for something I loved so much to get completely... I dunno, trounced on? Kinda distorting the whole reason I liked it in the first place.
Honestly the Chao Garden could be its own standalone game with other ways to power them up like a little gacha machine that uses coins awarded after a race or dojo match. It just needs to come back
If they took this approach, I would prefer a mobile game. Even if it was freemium (though naturally, not preferred)

The insane thing to me is how much of the fanbase (and even some people outside of it) share the sentiment that chao garden should return yet it hasn't happened. Even a standalone chao game on switch would be amazing
I guess we're not as loud as we think? But for real, whenever someone talks about a Sonic game, I feel like Chao Gardens come up.
When I was eleven or so, a sega america developer came to my middle school. This was around the time that Sonic Rivals was coming out, and being a massive sonic fan, I asked him about it. He told me a little bit about game design, and then I asked him why there hadn't been any chao gardens in the last several games. He looked at me point blank, utterly shocked and said "You actually like that? I didn't think anyone cared about the chao garden." and proceeded to walk away.
I don't know if that was the opinion of one person, or the studio as a whole, but to this day I still cannot fathom having such an utter disregard for a feature that is so beloved.
Ouch man. That hurts me. Clearly he wasn't the only one who had that thought over at Sega, but maybe they know we're here and still looking for it.

I would buy a standalone Chao Garden game with all the gardens and mini games from the past games
Same. Maybe even at full price depending how desperate I am and how much they add.
I would love a Chao Garden game, perhaps something akin to the Chao Island Resort fangame, but of course in 3D. They could bring the Sonic Forces character customization, add a bunch of new minigames and competitions and add online multiplayer so we can compete against other people's Chaos, and of course, a full revamp of the Chao, with new color palletes, maybe even new types! They could even add a gene/ancestry system, and make the breeding aspect not complicated, but more intricate and fun. The Sonic Tesm can do so much with Chao Garden, and I hope they can see then potential in it. I feel like a stand alone game would be amazing, but also a part of me feels that if they do decide on making a Chao Garden game, it'll be mobile.
It being a free-to-play filled with microtransactions is one of my biggest fears when it comes to the Chao Garden, haha.
I think that's all great ideas! Having some sort of online play would be super fun. I imagine the competition would be insane.
And yeah, I would guess that microtransactions would be involved pretty heavily if we got a mobile chao garden. At this point a mobile variant may be all we can get, though!

I've said it multiple times, but I can't believe SEGA hasn't made a Chao raising mobile game. They could rake in SO much cash from a Chao Garden app, I'm serious.
Take SA2B's existing Chao system and tweak it with new features:
• Rework the Chao Adventure 1 and 2 minigames for mobile. Playing these minigames will raise your Chao's stats.
• Incorporate the animals and chaos drives as pickups within the minigames / rewards for completing a minigame.
• Add a new color of chaos drive that helps raise stamina.
• Implement the race and karate systems from SA2B, with changes as needed for mobile devices.
• Implement the kindergarten and black market. Bring the Jewel Chao and Moon Chao to the market for purchase.

I would even play it, despite a mobile variant being my least favorite option. It's a mode that's made for mobile - I just want to see it on console.
This could have been Sega’s Pokémon. So many possibilities with breeding, animal parts, special character Chao, mini games, etc. Single handedly extended the hours I played SA2 by the hundreds.
And I still think it's entirely different than Pokemon. They had so much room for growth.

Chaofun was always a monster behind the wheel.
Chao were so good at adding replay value to Adventure 2. Some people NEED that break from the action (especially if your new to sonic or haven't picked up sonic in a good while) and some people need a tangible reason to replay levels. A well executed chao garden was perfect for that.
It provided exactly what it was supposed to. A genius addition to the series.
I feel they should either finally make Sonic Adventure 3 or remaster the other two and make a much bigger chao garden (like do a weird combo of all the gardens the two games had?) and add a whole bunch of stuff to it like a few more games and such (and more character themed chao would be neat too not to mention have a method to get a Tails, Knuckles, and Amy chao without hacking the game lmao
See, and a remastered chao garden wouldn't be overly hated either. I feel like it needs an update and there are so many things they could add.
Character themed chao were so cool, I will always welcome more.
It would be cool to see it become it’s own thing somehow. I loved everything about the chao garden as a kid, but the mini games felt limiting. I always wanted to do more with the chao’s than watch them fight or race even if I was able to get them to be the very best. Having the chao as a little tamogatchi on my Dreamcast memory card was really fun too.
They really can do so much more! I would love to see them implement some new ways to utilize our Chao!

I used the tiny garden on my Sonic Advanced to intensely/rapidly train my chao in SA2. It was technically faster to grind with.
Loved the tiny garden, I just wish I could do more with my chao there. It was perfect for a GBA minigame, though.

I think Chao could compete with Pokémon if done right it encourages raising/ strengthening and customizing chao and it baffles me how sega hasn’t done this yet with the success and popularity of them.
Comparing it to Pokemon is a bit steep IMO, but they could certainly do their own thing. The chao race and karate was super original for the time, as far as I know.

I play this game back on gamecube and spend a lot of time on the chao and never knew all the things that you can do with chaos, now these days I have it on my xbox and im hook to it again, looking forward to do many things that I didn't knew back in gamecube, anyways I hope they can bring them back soon enough.

It would be cool if there were a spin off chao garden game where you can take care of chao and you can put in a previous chao by syncing in sa2 or SA1 and sonic advance. New chao breeds: mystic chao can fly and carry mystic rocks called mystic toys.

it is possible, but it is not the focus of the next game, since it only serves as if it were a "pou" or "talking tom" that has on cell phones, taking care of a virtual animal, I would like cream the rabbit to appear in this game, I think it will not be a playable character, but being an extra character in the story, I commented this because they want sonic frontiers to surpass sonic adventure.
I would love a game just entirely based on Chao garden. Idk how they would do the gameplay loop without the Sonic portion but I will say whenever I think about coming back to a Sonic adventure game, the main thing that interests me is the Chao garden.
100%. I haven't even considered another Sonic game without it. Well, that's not entirely true...but I WOULD buy them if they had the garden.
Two years later and still nothing on the Chao front. Its a shame, chao are incredible but if anyone wants to try something new based on the Chao Gardens, look up Poglings! Its recently finished its kickstarter campaign and blew itss goals out the water. We should get it in a year or two on switch!

I got a modded Gamecube, borrowed my sister's GBA and cleaned off my Sonic Advance GBA cart to find my favorite chao, a Sonic chao named Hope, still kicking.
I've had him since I was a child, lost all of my other chao due to formatting (my own fault, messed up when using a JPN Gamecube), and although he isn't an all S rank superstar, he's my most prized possession.
I know I couldn't theoretically bring him along on a new installment, but I'd love to see a modern take on the garden, maybe with a Tiny Chao Garden companion app, online racing with friends, that sorta stuff.
I just pray they don't ruin it.

With how some past masterpieces were ruined (Rollercoaster Tycoon comes to mind) I also really hope they don't ruin the Chao garden. Maybe that's what they're afraid of.

I have a feeling this might be the case especially after us finding out through emails that sega was planning a Sonic adventure 1 and 2 remaster but decided against it after how the Sonic boom games were received. It’s either going to be Sonic adventure 3 or they finally decided to do these remasters
In terms of a new game with a Chao Garden, I think we should instead have a Pokémon Home-like approach with a Central Garden that is basically it's own game and a Cloud-Crossplay function and every future game could be developed with a link in mind, to use Chao as Power Up-Sidekicks floating behind you and in return send Rings and other stuff to the Chao-game. That would be awesome and noone would need to begin raising their Chao in the next game from the ground up, like Adventure 1 and 2
Not a bad idea! I don't even think you need to include the chao as a power-up for people to be interested, but it will certainly captivate more audiences that way.
@@PlasticWalrus Oh, the Chao floating behind you in each game and having special abilities based on the stats is the most important thing for me! I'll never play the Adventure games without the Chao Gameplay mod again, I love having my little favourites around me :)

I hope they don't make it a full-on active game. Some aspects that promote exercise are fine, but Pokemon Go pretty much relies on it.

fun fact, sonic heroes was planned to be sonic adventure 3 and yes they were actually planning to add a chao garden into that game. but sadly, they changed their minds about both of those.
Sonic Heroes was still a good game, at least in my opinion. Just could have been better with Chao.
What's even more frustrating is that the VMU functions could easily be put in a companion phone app, with better graphics and better features and even some gameplay, as long as they don't shove in microtransactions. It would offer a deeper experience where players could bond with their chao even when they're away from their consoles and computers.
I can't imagine that it never becomes a thing, it's too perfect. However there's a good chance they'll include some sort of microtransactions, sadly.
@@PlasticWalrus I don't know. They didn't include microtransactions in Sonic Forces and I was sure it would happen. The mobile games are infested with that garbage. But if they treat it as an extension of the game instead of a separate mobile game, we might get a nice experience.
@@Hynotama Sonic Forces does have in-app purchases though! Or at least it says it does on the appstore. We can only hope they treat it as a bonus game and not bonus revenue.

Think about a MMO Chao game where you run around looking for animals to collect and raise your Chao, go into other peoples Gardens, multiplayer minigames its simple enough conception to throw on any console don't even need it to be Sonic themed just throw in a some event sonic clothes to dress them up in

Funfact: Shadow the Hedgehog (game) was originally named "Sonic Adventure 3". That's why it was said that the Adventure series was not over.

The original 4chan leak for Sonic Frontiers (called Sonic Rangers at that time) mentioned a Chao Garden was in the works.

For 2021, The 30th Anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog should definitely bring back the chao garden. For years people have practically begged and begged for chao to return in it's proper form, and not just a camo or background reference. It's been nearly 20 full years since sonic adventure 2 which was the last game with a proper chao garden, they have teased and teased us with chao animations, hints and little nods recently, the fanbase have practically mastered the chao raising skills and is ready to raise them in a modern game on next-gen with all new features, breeding, stats and more. Lastly, people actually enjoy the sa2 story with sonic and shadow being rivals and everybody hunting for the emeralds to either save or destroy the world, with a plot twist of gerald robotnik and everybody becoming a team to stop the ark station from crashing into earth. Good.
It's still one of the hottest sonic topics even today and even myself would give up on everything sonic if the next game features no chao, and that's not a joke...

Simply put it this way, if a game company puts the time in to making their game unique and have ideas from themselves and the fans, then the game would be alot better and stand a better chance of being successful

I know there have been a few in the past, but it seems they didn't make a difference. Maybe a new one is overdue!
We definitely need another Sonic Adventure style game. They might think it's not marketable but I can think of a lot they can add and implement to the environments to make it catchy. Literally perfect time right now as there is a major lack of any decent arcade games that are all about the gameplay with a small story.
Everyone was hoping for it with the new Sonic game coming out :/

I also loved the Chao Gardens. When I still had my Dreamcast, I would walk outdoors to have my Chao with me all the times. I even brought it to beach, though obviously would sit in the shade while I was swimming, even when he was Swimmer type-- poor thing 🤣 I really didn't like how the Chao Garden in SA2 was shoehorned in and how it forced you to look for keys to unlock a chance to get into the level. I'm still wondering how the hell can I bring my Chao to the school on the SA2 version on Steam, but the rest of the game was a painful experience just to check if I could get my fix of Chao breeding like in the past.
Too bad there are still no news about a SA3 nor a Chao Garden implementation as of 2022...
Yeah, as more time passes the less hopeful I get. But surely they know there's a fanbase here. Maybe you'll be able to take your Chao to the beach again sometime soon!
honestly, surprised they didn't go the Pokemon route. this could have been a spin off that was successful
There were a ton of Pokemon Clones, maybe they thought it was too saturated?
If the took more development time in the game in general in addition to making a fully fleshed out Chao garden, sonic 06 would have been amazing

They need to make a Chao phone app for on the go care and play!
