More recently Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. It’s weirdly comforting, extremely enjoyable, beautifully shot and the ending is somehow both extremely violent and wholesome. How it handles Sharon Tate is honestly kind of touching. For me Tarantino’s best

      Couldn't agree more.
It's a very comforting movie especially the scene where cliff booth drops Rick at his mansion, drive back to his trailer park home and just makes food for himself and his dog.

Honestly I think Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is incredibly comforting, which is strange because I actually think a lot of that comes down to the bland direction from Chris Columbus.

Lol that’s an interesting point. The scenes definitely feel lazy and sort of episodic, but I think it’s what gives the movie charm. Prisoner of Azkaban on the other hand I think is the complete opposite, it’s a way better movie but doesn’t feel as nostalgic

Dazed and Confused / Everybody wants some. Both are just great representation of my high-school/college experiences. Richard Linklater seems to really understand the simplicity and angst of these misunderstood, repressed and impressionable young adults and his films are a love letter to that period of life. Some of the greatest hangout movies of all time, I love them both 😊.

"Ferris Bueller's Day Off", and a lot of John Hughes-scripted works for that matter .... it's a coin with two sides. In the 80s Hughes captured a teenage spirit and communicated layers to the experience that hadn't been seen before in the teen comedy genre. However, he also had blind spots. One of them I find glaring is the handling of Ferris's sister Jeanie, whose behavioral patterns come across as weird and disjointed. What is she trying to accomplish? The film tries to provide an answer but it feels incomplete. Jealousy within a family can be a powerful dramatic tool, but the characters have to first feel human which (frustratingly) Hughes's writing was otherwise pretty good at.

E.T. - although I haven't seen it in ages. I just remember feeling great after watching it the first time.
Moneyball - just a great uplifting movie and not just for baseball fans. And it's currently available on Netflix.
Metropolis, the 2001 anime. I'm not sure why this movie isn't discussed more often. I love the contrasts with the cartoonish characters, the intricately detailed backdrops and the Dixieland jazz.

I don't think I really even know what a "feel good" movie is. When I need to feel good I tend to put on music or films that tend to ramp up my negative emotions until they simply play themselves out. Having said that, Field of Dreams tends to relieve the unresolved tension between myself and my late father. The only thing we really had in common was a love of baseball, and FOD never fails to reduce me to cathartic tears.
Love The Apartment, btw. Possibly my favorite "comedy" film ever, but that's more due to its sheer excellence as one of the greatest films I've ever seen. Billy Wilder and Jack Lemmon. A cinematic match made in heaven.

One cut of the dead!!! Is it a formal masterpiece? Hell no! Were talented people involved? No! But damn, someone had a very good idea that allowed them to make a very nice and original movie with the few means and talent they had! It worked like a charm on me! It made me feel so much sympathie towards them all! It made me laugh like a kid and even love humanity for Christ's sake!!!
To me there are only two issues :
    - The first one is not even really one : you just got to be aware the first part is deliberately awful (so you won't stop right away and instead have fun seeking all the weird elements and try to figure out why they are in there)
    - That extra shot on the father/daughter pic at the end was unnecessary and I took it as kind of an insult...
No other issues to add! It's quite flawless! Watch it, try to figure out, have a good laugh and smile until the next day!

Oh and of course Forrest Gump! It has been more than ten years since my last viewing but I'm planning on watching it again very soon. I bet it will have the same effect it had on 20yo me : I'm gonna spend half an hour crying until I have left a huge puddle of tears on the floor! But it's all good! I'll feel like everything is possible and will probably do something I should have done before. I'll be pure, I'll be love itself, I'll be a child again.

@1:39: Indeed, Maggie, you should *just keep saying that Rex Harrison is your "rapper of choice".*

Foul Phil - Suit: My tummy hurts!
Greaser Greg - Suit: What did you eat?
    Foul Phil - Suit: Everything!
Greaser Greg - Suit: That makes sense!
Ali Gator: [looking at stuffed alligator, gasps] My God! It's Cousin Charlie!
Valerie Vomit: [Valerie Vomit, finds her hamburger wrapper empty] Ali, you ate my burger!
Dodger: [to the Garbage Pail Kids] I don't think you're ugly, exactly.
Valerie Vomit: You wanna suck face?
Captain Manzini: Did you get the blood of a toad and the eye of a newt?
Dodger: Nope. The pet shop's out of unicorns, too.
Captain Manzini: No wonder there's no magic in the world today. You can't get the ingredients.
Dodger: [starting work unloading a crate] Do you sell much of this stuff? We've only had two customers and they didn't buy anything.
Captain Manzini: Patience is a bitter vine, dear Dodger, but it bears sweet fruit.
    Dodger: Huh?
Captain Manzini: That's from the Greek. It loses a little something in translation. Now, let's add a little sparkle to our merchandise.
    [hands Dodger a feather duster]
Garbage pail kids movie for me😎

The Coca Cola Kid. Directed by Yugoslav Black Wave Dusan Maravejev. The sexy Greta Scacchi & her mate Tim Finn ( Split Enz , Crowded House) soundtrack. MDMA in Dec. is best time. Eric Roberts doing his Kung fu form. O'Lucky Man by Lindsey Anderson. Malcolm Mcdowell starts as a coffee worker in a silent film. HIs hands are cut off by the boss & he is reborn as 70's coffee salesman. He keeps meeting the same actors & actresses playing different characters . Featuring the young & hot Helen Mirren. Great soundtrack by Alan Price.
I saw him do the soundtrack in rare U.S. show at Great American Music Hall in S.F.
