    instantly became one of my favorite drummers when i saw the "fish" video. great solo. musical, had a rhythmic theme, and expanded on it nicely from there. flexed his control, musicality, and chops through it all. great stuff. the return to the theme caught me off guard but impressed me.

    If there is one thing that stays consistent with all of Amir's amazing videos with Meinl, is the phenomenal sound engineer.

    I really do try to appreciate these kinds of solos but if you don't really go anywhere within the first 60 seconds it's very easy to lose interest.

    • @CullenCorley
      @CullenCorley 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I don't mean this negatively but that's on you, not on him. he's an artist making decisions and it's up to you to decide whether it is to you worth following... not up to him to "go somewhere." and I think the experience is very different, having something a little sparser like this rather than just beelines from beat to beat... the latter would be a very different statement. further, I think it's healthy, especially in this day and age of instant gratification, to follow an artist's vision and try to extend your acceptable time limits on excitement and expectation. that all sounds super hippy dippy... I just found this solo fascinating and partly due to how it rubbed against my first knee-jerk reaction, which you kind of summed up in your comment :)

    • @JohnnyEMatos
      @JohnnyEMatos 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dude, I thought the same. I lost interest in solos like Tony Royster's and Thomas Pridgen's, basically I lost interest for the go fast hit hard solos.

    First half is a bore, but gets groovy.

    • @matejfele9971

      This is obviously an exception, but 99,9% of drum solos suck because they don't groove.
