How to Use a Clinometer

  • The Clinometer is a super important trail building tool. Using one to plan your trail will really help keep things under control. This video explains how to use one and why it's way better than eyeballing your slopes.
    The trees and hills can be deceiving and make what you think could be a gentle grade actually very difficult. By using a Clino in the marking stages of the build, you prevent future headaches from both a drainage and riding perspective.
    Most importantly, this tool keeps your trails sustainable.

      I did venture into Malaysia on a few occasions but I only ever built trail in Brunei which is where I was living at the time. Been doing trail design Stateside off and on since 2021 and it has it's own challenges but it's nowhere near as difficult as the tropics.
