  • Full re-pack of a Bosch 18v 4ah, 5ah or 6ah battery pack.
    This type of pack requires spot welding and soldering to replace the cells.
    The factory cells are Samsung 30q cells (in the 6ah pack) with a 3000mah capacity and 20a discharge rating. The replacement cells should not have a discharge rating of less than 20a

    Can you show any lights on why my battery do not make contact with the drill battery connection, when pushed into place ?

    I have an identical one that flashes an LED on it and does not charge. The batteries are good. What is the problem?

    Do you end up hanging onto the old batteries for minor replacement? For example if you come across 1 pack with the bottom corner with water damage. And you pop 1 spare in place of it. Or is it that usually you just repack and replace all cells?

      I myself replace all cells but if someone want a me to do 1 cell (and provides it), I'll do that.

    Hello I enjoyed watching your video! Did the same half a year ago. Both packs will not load full. Wenn i testet the cells. I found out that the charging process is only charging the first cells in series to 4.2 V the 4 cells behind are not charging. And staying at 3.7 V. Anybody any idea?

      I've never compared single and double packs but I know that using doubled strips will reduce the heat when using the pack on high draw tools.

    Hello. Is it possible to replace original cells, for example 1500mah 20a, with 3000mah 20a?
    Is there some sort of protection on this battery from switching cells?

      @spinnanz  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes it's possible to fit cells with a higher ah rating.

    If you put 10 cells with 3000mah,how much amp the battery pack will rate?

    • @spinnanz
      @spinnanz  ปีที่แล้ว

      10 cells will be 2 rows of 5 cells. Using 3000mah cells will give you a capacity of 6ah (6000mah).

    If you made this video for learning purpose that's ok, but in the real life buying 10 brand cells (plus accessories) will cost near the same or even more than what you would spend by buying a new Bosch battery.
    And now Bosch make the Pro Core one which uses the latest Samsung 21700 cells which make the pack smaller.

    • @spinnanz
      @spinnanz  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In my country an 18v 5ah bosch pack will cost me $190 for a 5ah. 10x 30q cells will cost me $137, so I can make a 6ah pack.
      Thats a 27% saving and get a 20% larger battery.

    Are there any drill batteries (in your experience) that lock up the BMS when you remove the old cells ??
    The Milwaukee one you recelled obviously didn't , but I've heard that Makita batteries BMS will stop working if voltage is removed during re-celling.
    Thank you for a great video.
    PS - you didn't show this Bosch charging after this re-cell.

    • @spinnanz
      @spinnanz  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've had 2 Makita that were locked however when they became faulty (with the original cells inside) the owner tried at elast 3 times to get them to charge on the charger. I've heard this can cause the BMS to lock. A set of 4 after market BMS's are around $25 for the set.
      I have repacked working but worn out Makita with no problems.
      I couldn't show this Bosch charging as I don't have a Bosch charger however I waited until the owner confirmed with me that the battery had done a full charge/discharge before I posted the video up.
