You need to have a means to ensure that the ball remains in firm contact with the powder charge. Your ball appears to be a rather loose fit, and may roll forward in the bore. An air space between the powder charge and the projectile functions as a bore obstruction and can damage the weapon or a catastrophic disaster. You are probably safe at 24 grains 3fffg but at larger charges in long guns or pistols could be deadly. Try either patched round ball or flax tow.
Yeah I got some wads but they didn’t fit the barrel when I would ram them in with the ball. Gonna have to get different sizes and see which ones fit best.
@@b-man6765 Pillow ticking or muslin patches would probably work best. You can buy them precut or by a large piece of fabric to cut yourself ------- in a pinch I have used cotton balls (just make sure they don't start a fire)
Forgot to say you should lube the patch, to make it easier to ram as well as to soften the fouling in the bore. Borebutter is a common store bought lube. But any natural fat or oil can be used.
Reliable function. Is it historically correct to just drop the ball on the powder and ram it? That would certain speed up rate of fire on the battlefield.
It certainly does make reloading faster, but typically it’s not recommended. Wads help with keeping the barrel clean, and better tightness of the ball in the barrel. Historically, yes, people would load them like this, but only if they didn’t have paper cartridges, which you can find several videos about.
Please don't load from the flask like that. Take the time to make cartridges or use a powder measure. Your right hand will thank me.
As will the barrel he’ll stop scratching too.
Although it's about a hundred years later when this pistol came out, it reminds me of a pirate pistol lol.

How do you like the gun a year latter? I am thinking of buying one
It’s awesome, it’s really fun to shoot. I did not regret buying it for sure
@@b-man6765 thank you, I think I will buy it.
