Just discovered this TH-cam video. I did not know that Acadia had given Ron an honorary doctorate degree. I will forever remember him in the musical Kiss Me Kate, where I first met him when we were both students at Acadia!
Well said Bra, we are first and foremost where we are from, not defined by terminology created by settlers. And WE can choose how we want to be addressed, not someone half way around the world who does not understand our history and journey!
I put this on to show my kid what a great funny man Ron James was. Man, this was just terrible. He bombed, huge. It wasn't just the audience, his jokes were terrible and his timing was WAY off. Too many times he was fumbling for his next line. I don't know what was going on with him, but I hope he can recover.
...nothing wrong with his bits...was laughing hard here....he feeds off the crowd, and that crowd was shite...either too sensitive for a Ron James show (the likely problem) or just couldn't keep up...and he was slower than usual...see it more often nowadays....crowds are getting too 'weak kneed' anymore...lot of the best wouldn't likely go over as well these days....he was fumbling trying to figure out what was going to jar these guys awake...almost as if it wasn't geared to the 'right now' they just didn't get it....
This is my favourite guy. Hilarious. He has Trump bagged and packaged perfectly. Good on ya bud, for calling out the technology nerd. What a dead crowd. Must be too rapid fire ten dollar words for you Toronto. Wow, get a clown because you need to laugh. Poles firmly planted in most of them.
Either this crowd is full of shit and can't enjoy comedy (half-assed laughing and limp handed clapping) or they're told not to. I stand on the other side of Ron's politics but love every word that he says, and defend his right to say them. One of the funniest guy's around. Way to go fellow bay boy!
It's a corporate gig so it is probably not geared to pick up audience reaction like they do for comedy shows where they mike the audience ... Check their website to have an idea of the audience he had to work with: www.ideacity.ca/about/ (;^)
The crowd must have come from a casino where the had lost everything they owned. He did fall a wee bit hard in some areas but he’s pretty funny for the most part in my opinion.
I see dead people. Horrible editing with long shots of sad looking people interrupting the man we came to watch, short clips of laughing people is the norm. All the same enjoyable, thank you for posting it.
Seen Ron James in old 'Air Farce' episodes, liked his bits, & decided to look him up. This is the first video I watched. What a disappointment! :( He made his lack of respect for conservatives, Americans, & history pretty clear. I was put off early by his joke that southern Alberta was a place where jokesters like him are whisked off to have their wagons fixed by goons working for Stephen Harper. Now obviously, that was in jest, I understand. But if you're trying to get on the good side of an audience, exaggerating the malevolence of the prime minister & smearing a region of Canada (my home) isn't the way to do it. My hope is that he was funnier in his younger days, because his work here mainly reeks of liberal boomer angst.
Ron used to be good. This was a lame set. The American political stuff > from a Canadian< was pitiful. He should leave it alone. It aint working. And I doubt he will be around much longer.
Sorry , but all he does is put down people. First he came out all positive about Canada, and being Canadian, but then he switched to hating on The U.S. Many canadians love America and have many relatives who live there, so his snarky comments on their brother to the south was met with stares of derision. A good comedian must know his audience, and do a bit of research before putting his foot in his mouth.
thanks you Ron James that was one hard crowd. Keep the funnies rolling Ron.
Thank you ideacity for the opportunity!
Thank you for joining us! Hope to see you again soon!
You did great in a tough crowd Ron. Saw you in Sudbury in 2011 and I almost died!!!
@@distorted_imagination Hey, I was at the Sudbury gig, too!! Ron, you are the funniest!! (Btw, got the smelt joke, so not a lost cause.) ;-)
Thank you for gifting me tickets to tomorrow’s show Ron! Can’t wait to be there. It was an honour to bartend for ya tonight!
Learn something every time I watch this great Canadian Icon!!
Poor Ron, he did not deserve this crowd. He's fantastic, one of the best Canadian comedians ever
That was one hard crowd but for them their reaction was hilarious. They find human interaction and non-video interaction ... unique.

great show Ron James.
'If this coffee is a compliment, my wake up call must be a kick in the nut's'
Has that audience been anesthetized, or what!? Hilarious, as usual, Ron JAMES!
Well said Bra, we are first and foremost where we are from, not defined by terminology created by settlers. And WE can choose how we want to be addressed, not someone half way around the world who does not understand our history and journey!
I’d like to hear his opinion of Trudeau and the Liberals now!
Absolutely brilliant. If you want to know the true state of the world, they have a very unique perspective which includes a lot of the truth.

The audience killed his flow. As one guy said "lively as a graveyard, 12 hours after the funeral."

June 2020 now. What you have said has come to pass.
There's nobody like you, Ron.

Exactly. It messed up his flow.
yes tough crowd, but Ron knows how to get past that and make many new fans EXCELLENT WORK.
Helloooo? Anybody HOME ??? ... Jeeze, people ... SMILE at least, you just might like it ??????
Best intellect- comic in Canada. Better than all unfunny yankee wannabes. Am an AUSSIE .
yea , what a pack of stiffs...it's too fast for them to follow.
...and he was running slow...
Once you put politics in your comedy on a crowd that doesn't see your beliefs you loose your show hard .
It's not a bad crowd. They just weren't mic'd.
The crowd must have come from a casino where the had lost everything they owned. He did fall a wee bit hard in some areas but he’s pretty funny for the most part in my opinion.
If the potatoes have my eyes, they'll be so blurry they'd be sprouting prunes.
I see dead people.

Great show as always.shame on that crowd
Tough ass tight crowd but he played it well and let them know they suck lol
no matter how qualified & educated that crowd may be, they seem dumb to me.
8:02 Caught that. Heh flipped off his audience.
You'll never be half he man Donald Trump is with your hate attack with no backing.

what a slow crowd they did not get half of the jokes, what do they find funny there is nobody better than Ron
Maybe because most of his "jokes" are not funny, even if you get them?
What is wrong that crowd! Grow a sense of humor.
Must be fluoride in the town water supply. Makes them soporific.
Blame humor on the audience for being stiff the humor is stiff it's funny if you like that ,
True, Tories can't take a joke
Now I realize why you have fallen off the map
He preaches politics one sided, loved Ron James until he attacked Trump, not cool, not factual. 👎👎👎from a fellow maritimer.
He’s dead on about your nero
Ron used to be good. This was a lame set. The American political stuff > from a Canadian< was pitiful.

Not his best show...………..NOT the best Audience.

Stick to comedy and drop the politics.
With the way politics is today it is a big joke. He had a really crappy audience and they didn't seem too smart
not funny, sounds memorized, blunt opinion
Your opinion, bud. Comedy gold for me. Those ten dollar words and rapid fire genius runs must be too much for you.
Yep, agreed, way too wordy, not sense of comic... public is just polite... and this is supposedly the number one comic in Canada... that's telling.
Funny like Wayne and Shister ha ha ha oh stop my stomach hurts
Slow down please a bit
Wahwawahs stop it so painful not funny huh
How is he so awful really
Not funny
Stop
