Enjoyed the vid! I've been on this trail so many times, this time was the easiest! Tip for first timers; at places there are trails on both sides of the river. Be sure to watch the other bikers at bridges to go the right way.
@ Jose Aguilar the trail starts off the 91 freeway and Green River, by the Golf Course a dirt lot is there to park and you will see the bike trail!!!! it takes you to Newport Beach
Is there any big inclines along the river trail.? I'm planning a trip from los Angeles to lake elsinore. I just want to know what the terrain looks like out there on a bike.
Probably too late for your trip but to let others know, it's dead flat with the steepest inclines being the road underpasses. (A joke.) Bridge 3 is not more than 2.5 miles from the Santa Ana rivermouth, by the way. Plan to hit the beach NLT 10 AM otherwise you will have a headwind that gets stiff around 3-4 PM. The good news: coming back in the afternoon with the (tail)wind will make you feel like a cycling god! Enjoy!
San Gabriel, Coyote Creek, Santa Ana, Rio Hondo. They run along the drain ditches and are really just repurposed maintenance paths so they are super flat. My legs got weaker from riding them all the time years ago because I never challenged myself with climbs. Not making that mistake again.
im in downtown brea.. wonder where the easiest spot to cut in on the trail for me is. only one i know of is by my childhood home on tustin ave/riverdale at the circle k
was thinking of doing this and saw your video. How long does it take to go from green river santa ana trail to Huntington beach and vice versa? On google map it says 4 hr one way.
fenix0green It is 30 miles one way, so if you are slow and average 10 miles an hour, it will take 3. If you are quicker and go 20 miles an hour, you'll do it in an hour and a half
Dude, that looks really cool.. thanx for tge upload.. cheers!!
