- Something funny about this is the fact that during the editing of this video, I feel like I changed my mind about some of these. Maybe it's a day-to-day kind of judgement? Perhaps it comes down to how I'm feeling that day. Some days I will love some of these and they feel very "me" and then other days I will think they are stupid and dumb and ugly. I hope you enjoy this for what it is (self indulgent embarrassing content where I contradict myself more than a few times).
I hope this also encourages any artists who struggle with "finding their style". I'm a firm believer in just drawing however you feel like in the moment, and that eventually, you'll find a "style" through experimentation and having fun with it.

It’s so fun to see how you as an artist viewed yourself over the years. It’s also baffling that what we think we look like changes so frequently
this is so nostalgic and inspiring. i like the kind of ebbs and flows of how we feel about our old art like... sometimes we hate older art because it's old and not as skilled, but there's a sweet spot of a certain time ago where we loop back around to liking it because it's so different and we remember how at the time we were so proud of it.

the first E tier drawing was so fun it made me kinda sad when you put it there 😭😭 i know it doesn't look like you but I thought your line confidence really helped bring the shapes out! this is also inspiring me to do more self portraits... i want something to look back on in the future!

In all my years of painting, I’ve never done a professional looking self portrait (despite using myself as the model in basically all of my paintings) you have inspired me ✨✨
I started drawing again with 25 or more, im so jealous to see your evolution and how different do you perceived yourself through these portraits, and all the fashion and trends that were happening those years, now i have the need to draw myself more often and see the difference in the future. Feel so sad for the Jamie Schwarzenegger Green one, it´s one of my favs!

I love seeing how different all your portraits are, I'm the total opposite! Had a mohawk for 12 years, I'm wearing the same (increasingly ratty) band shirts, I just found a self-portrait from high school that looks virtually identical to the me of today 😅 Not sure if that's a good thing!
But self-portraits are great to do, you can always do whatever you want because it's your own damn face and they inevitably reflect whatever you were going through at the time.

This video reminds me of how I've always had a charcoal drawing from college art class that I've considered the most accurate self portrait I've ever done. And I showed it to someone fairly recently with the obligatory shy "idk it might not be very good but I like it" and they were just like "yeah this is bad it doesn't look like you at all"

I'm glad that you actually made a tier list video and it wasn't just a joke! This was super interesting! It's neat that you have so many self-portraits throughout the years--I could not make a video like this because I basically only drew myself when it was a class assignment, so I barely have any. Which is too bad, because it's cool to see how your self-perception changes throughout the years.
